Yeah I didn't know that was coming specifically, but I had heard rumblings of other advertising. That's great news!

Any idea about the utility of their token? Is it just for paying fees on their own network or is there any additional use?

Here's some info about it:

Crypto.com Coin (CRO) is the native token of the Crypto.com Chain. The Crypto.com Chain was created to build a network of cryptocurrency projects, and develop merchants’ ability to accept crypto as a form of payment. The Crypto.com Chain is a high performing native blockchain solution, which will make the transaction flows between crypto users and merchants accepting crypto seamless, cost-efficient and secure. Businesses can use Crypto.com Pay Checkout and/or Invoice to enable customers to complete checkout and pay for goods and services with cryptocurrencies using the Crypto.com Wallet App. Businesses receive all their payments instantly in CRO or stable coins, or in fiat. CRO is now available on DeFi Swap. Users can swap CRO, be CRO Liquidity Providers to earn fees and boost their yield by up to 20x when staking CRO.

So the two most important questions people are going to have aren't answered in this statement.

1. Is it their own blockchain technology or does it live on another existing blockchain?

2. If it's their own blockchain, is it Proof Of Work, Proof Of Stake, Proof Of Space, how does it work?

Native to Crypto.org blockchain, also ERC20 CRO (1=1 exchange) hosted on ethereum blockchain.

I need to research crypto.org blockchain more... it's open source permission-less blockchain (according to crypto.com), so idk what that means as far as PoW, PoS goes.

Maybe someone who knows more can expand?

"a fully decentralized network with high speed and low fees, designed to be a public good that helps drive mass adoption of blockchain technology through use cases like Payments, DeFi and NFTs."
