  1. Okay so a huge push after I got off work tonight, I'm back again to around 97% finished. I'll finish up the few rogue items I need to scan tomorrow, then it's just about tying up some loose ends, and then we're done. Should more or less be finished by the end of the weekend. Currently volume 1 is sitting at around 323 pages, I think it'll top out at around 335 pages max, by the time I'm done with the few things I need to tweak.
  2. Guys, I am missing a few photos needed for the first volume of Family Bits, as contrary to popular belief, there are some games that I don't actually own. I'm not going to post the list here of the photos I need, though there are two cartridges that I think someone here possibly could help out with. @NESWORLD Martin, I know you could help out, and maybe someone else could as well. I am looking for cartridge pictures of the following two Sachen multicarts. It's actually frustrating, as I used to have both of these cartridges, but I couldn't find them when looking through my gaming stuff back home. Anyways, I need cartridge pictures of these: Super Cartridge V.5: 7 in 1 Super Cartridge V.6: 6 in 1 Thanks in advance if anyone can help me
  3. Thanks to a slow day at work I was able to get mostly caught up. I sketched out some goals for the next few days, I'm hoping to get things mostly wrapped up by the end of the weekend.
  4. It seems these versions are quite popular to collect of all the regional versions, for some reason
  5. Nah, I'm fulled by beer, betal nuts, and Thai Red Bulls... We were at 97% on volume I, then I went and did something terrible, and added 31 more games to the first volume...although most of the text had been written previously for those games, I still need to scan stuff and take screenshots and what not, let's say that due to this setback, we're now sitting at around 94% complete, though the night is still young, so here's hoping...
  6. If cars couldn't do faster than 20 and people had to wear helmets, maybe more people would cycle instead of drive. Better health, less fatalities, etc... sounds good to me
  7. So has anyone here actually watched or gotten the thoughts of the Ukrainians, Russians, and those involved?
  8. Is it possible to do a breakdown / analysis of console hardware just by looking at pics of the motherboard and chips, or would someone actually need to have the hardware physically in front of them to analyse it? I have a bunch of Famiclones, and I want to open them, take high res pics, and discuss what's going on but I don't know shit about hardware, so I'd have to outsource that part to someone else.
  9. Let the people decide, the people living in the disputed areas.
  10. Awesome, that's great news to hear Good luck!
  11. Dark pictures, color breaking, I'd say it's quite possibly a reseal. Then again, I'm no expert, let's get someone with expert skill like @jonebone to weigh in on it.
  12. Well with the situation in Ukraine, some of the regions are filled with ethnic Russian people, who quite likely want to be Russian. Then there's the economic situation at play as well, those are the issues that are at the heart of the Russian situation. TBH, I can't say that I necessarily disagree with Putin and his ambitions here. The China situation is much, much different though, which is why I stated earlier it's apples and oranges. Taiwan has never in history been under the control of the mainland's current government, and even when it was controlled by the mainland, it was viewed as a haven for pirates, in a very very bad light. Furthermore, the majority of people here DO NOT identify as Chinese, especially the younger generations. That creates a very large problem.
  13. Finished up the thanks section last night. Also added a few more games. We're sitting at 97% complete on Volume I...
  14. No, we are not. Putin will stop with Ukraine, in one way or another. As for the situation with China, at the minute they have larger things on their mind, after finishing up the Olympics. They will watch Western response for sure, but it's apples to oranges. Even if they did start moving some troops, the West (America) would shut it down quickly. Rolling tanks across a field in winter time is easier than launching an amphibious attack. China will not bomb us, if they destroy Hsinchu, the chip factories will be destroyed... I'd be more concerned about a miscalculation from a trigger-happy pilot, honestly.
  15. Curious how Sachen stacked up compared to the competition back in the day? Have a love for the Chinese language and video games? Want to see pictures of copiers? Well then, you've come to the right place. In conjunction with the TV Game Foundation Formosa, I am auctioning off a set of 24 Taiwanense gaming magazines, dating from the late 80s to mid 90s. I didn't look too closely into the contents of the set, but there are pictures of at least one unreleased famicom game in one of the magazines, and likely there's also tons of adverts for kick ass unlicensed games and copiers and shit too. You get 24 Taiwanense gaming magazines from the 80s to early / mid 90s (classic era). Conditions vary, one of the magazines is still sealed, most are in average to good condition. Auction starts now, ends Saturday 26th at noon time EST. Shipping is $60. Opening bid starts at $300. I don't care where the bidders are from, but I only accept U.S. postal money orders or checks (from members that have a strong presence here). Any questions, please ask! I will not list these again, if they don't sell, they'll go on the trade pile or be sold locally. Edit: Found one more issue, so it's going in the set as well, make it 25 magazines
  16. More advertisements and even game information. Again from 1991, but let's examine: Here's a double spread, only featuring EA games. Let's look at how the games are advertised...yup, American versions. Next page more of the same, sorry it's upside down. Different magazine, more EA games...all referred to as "American versions", yet again. And yet again the same situation, this one has the EA logo even, and of course like the others, referred to as American versions. So of all the games in the shop, the only two that were sealed were the EA American version games, and the EA games were obviously heavily marketed and sold here, as evidenced by the photos I've been posting. Yet the game is considered a reseal, without even having the experts look at it, thanks in part because of...
  17. The locals here know nothing about sealed games (games here mostly were not sealed, until the disc era), furthermore, the locals here just don't care about these things. I would have quit my Family Bits book years ago, but the only thing that kept me going (aside from the support and encouragement from you guys) is the fact that I felt the information should be compiled in one source, and the locals weren't about to do it themselves. The book they did do was an embarrassment, and honestly I feel that I shouldn't even be the one documenting these games but ...
  18. Well, while I actually agree somewhat with both @Glovesand @FenrirZero here, I'm going to highlight the problem in it all. You guys are right, perhaps I should take a step back, similarly, @jonebone I'm sorry if you felt my attitude towards you was shitty; however, if something with this game doesn't change within the next year, I'm going to shred the shrink-wrap off, beat it with a hammer, and then bin it. It's got nothing to do with anger issues, rather it's to prove a point, just like I did with the Top Gun carts years ago. A. If you guys follow the thread, the whole "shitty attitude" began on my part right after the half million dollar sale. It was at that point that @jonebonepopped in and stated something along the lines of "I thought everyone knew it was a reseal", not offering any other comments initially. Now I don't know about the rest of you, but his answer definitely was made "without doubt", and to me that's a lousy thing to do to someone, especially when potentially tens of thousands of dollars are at stake here. B. When I talked to Heritage Auctions, they initially were eager to send the game over to Wata for grading, and to sell on consignment if it indeed came back as legit unused (not even necessarily original seal). Oddly enough, after Jone's statement and HA asking some "experts" (possibly even Jone himself), they now won't even look at the game. C. I don't have the money to send it in to Wata myself, IIRC they work on a tiered system for their fees. And that's where we're at. The magazine images I posted last night add credence to this being real, but in the popular opinion it's fake and always will be fake, due in part to a hasty statement made by a forum member that hadn't even seen the game in person, and likely didn't even know the whole story behind the game. So I'd love to have @jonebone come in here and have a more civil discussion about the whole thing, but until that time, it's hard not to view it as a case of "the expert making a 'bad call' to protect his own interests" D. As far as solving mysteries, honestly I don't care about that at all - it's like the Sachen games or the blue Chiller by this point. Even if the truth did come out, if it's not the version of the truth that HA, investors, etc want, then it means little. I just want to buy a house, that's it. Don't care about being a millionaire or investor or anything like that.
  19. Right, so I want to call @jonebone back into this discussion, and I will state the following to go with: if @jonebone refuses to comment or add input, I will take it as admission that what I say is true. I was going through the TV Game Foundation Formosa reference library tonight when working on Family Bits, saw numerous advertisements such as the following, advertising Electronics Arts games. Unfortunately the advert is from 1991, though it proves that EA was marketing their games here in Taiwan. Then I also found other advertisements, such as this double spread advertising EA games clearly as "American versions" (美國版). In the 1992 issue we can even see both the 92 and 91 John Madden games being advertised, sadly the advert only features "new" games. My point though is that the evidence is clearly pointing towards Madden 90 being released here for Taiwan market, hence me finding it sealed in the dust shop. Given the evidence, it's more likely than not that my game has an original seal. i provided the evidence, I also put forth a different sealed EA game in another thread. It it's all fake or not legit, I ask @jonebone to weigh in on it...let's hear from the expert
  20. I'm not particularly interested in sports games, though I've always felt this was a kick ass project!
