To be fair, he did say he would take the comments about pricing into consideration and hasn't really stated what he will price the game at after that. Also, I believe there are some hardware / technical difficulties with re-releasing it on cartridge, if I recall correctly. I'm sure it could be done of course, but could be a bit more challenging. Maybe a lot of people here prefer physical, but there are also other people who would be perfectly fine with a digital release - I may pick it up on steam just to try it out, depending on the price. At the end of the day though, anything that gets a game into more people's hands to enjoy, is always a good thing in my book. Whether that is physical, digital, whatever - anything that removes barriers to entry (and this game previously had the biggest barrier of just about any game) is a very good thing.

I can't speak for everyone - but I know my own comments about price were not really meant to be a judgment about what it is worth or whether it is a ripoff. I don't think $30 is an unreasonable price for a homebrew game. I just know that the current digital gaming landscape is quite brutal and competitive, and while Star Keeper has a special history for retro enthusiasts and the homebrew community, for people outside of that world, it may *appear* to be 'yet another' retro-style platformer on Steam, of which there are tons and most of which are very inexpensive. Ultimately, the dev/op will have the final decision and can price this however they see fit. I definitely wouldn't want them to price it too low and undersell themselves - so I don't really know the perfect answer as to what price is the absolute best. My earlier suggestion of what I "expect" it to cost, is purely based on experience with steam and what I usually see. Some publishers definitely choose to start high and lower, also - so that is always an option like we've discussed.

It's all good. I wasn't 100% sure whether you were teasing or not, and mainly just wanted to share some thoughts to be hopefully constructive for the developer.

I don't think this group is the problem for being cheap. In fact, I'd wager THIS group is probably the group MOST likely to pay $30 for the game to support a homebrewer. It's all about strategy and knowing the platform. I'm not making a quality assessment or judgment on the game, nor am I being particularly cheap, by saying that I think $30 is a *really* high price for this type of game on steam. Ultimately, it is the developer's choice to price how they see fit, and do whatever they'd like. I think some people are just sharing their thoughts as consumers of media on the platform, and what typically works. After watching the trailer, I would 'expect' to see the game priced on Steam at $10 or maybe $15. It's simply sharing an expectation given previous experience with the platform and purchases, not trying to knock the game or make an assessment on what it is 'worth.' For example, the ios platform is incredibly competitive, and you'd be laughed out of the room for pricing a game at $30. I know that's ios and a very different ecosystem, but it's just an analogy to express how the platform matters, especially given how much competition there is. Back to steam, the challenge will be standing out in a sea of retro-themed platformers, and getting people to bite the initial bullet. As mentioned above, you could always price it to start and then lower it later depending on the reaction. The only other thing I'd suggest for thought, is that pricing on steam does impact the expectations from consumers about the quality and amount of content they are getting. They will be much more strict/harsh on a game priced at $30, than say, $10. The reason that matters, is that people can be brutally honest in reviews - and if a game starts out with low or mixed reviews, it makes future sales a bit more difficult as it impacts search results, ordering, desirability, etc. However it goes, I certainly wish you luck with the project and hope it is successful for you!
  5. What I see in that pic is that a lot of fun was had! As for books, I don't really have a ton of them, but I do still buy ones that really interest me. I don't have any strict organization method, but I try to keep series and themes together. I don't have enough to really need to alphabetize or anything like that. I have lots of random things like artbooks and such, and I tend to just make those fit the spaces I have for them - I don't know that there is any specific organization to them, except for same series / themes.
  6. Reed - between the books, dvds, video games, etc. Do you have any walls in your home not covered with media? Not a criticism just an observation!
  7. Watching back this trailer is absolutely hilarious and definitely full of entertainment hah
  8. I think porting the game to Steam (or porting / re-releasing in any capacity) is a cool idea. For the people who really just want to play the game, that will at least allow them to do so and enjoy it. I know that what makes the game special is that it is a NES Homebrew, but at least having SOME option to play the game in some capacity, is better than nothing. Hopefully it is true / close to the original, that would be very neat.
  9. She was definitely a very talented and interesting entertainer! Much respect to Tina for what she accomplished and the challenges she battled to get where she did.
  10. I hate it cause you're right hahahhah! I never thought of it that way. But still, B just feels like the natural jump button. I haven't changed anything yet, but I may hah.
  11. Just to clarify - we made the entry process more difficult and turned the manual screening off. If we continue to see spam, we'll turn the manual approval back on and explore further. I just ask that people bear with us while we improve the system. Thanks!
  12. Really really enjoyed this movie. I gave it a 9. It was such an interesting movie, and he did a great job in a more serious role, which was refreshing and good to see. At the time, it felt so unique and different, and I loved seeing the story unravel and him realize what was going on. Just a super cool experience. I also *really* liked Eternal Sunshine and thought he did great in that too.
  13. We've currently switched to manual approval (temporarily), and will be implementing a few changes to the screening process to hopefully make it more complicated for bots. We'll try that out, and if we still have issues, we'll troubleshoot.
  14. So back to the spam issue - we are working on available solutions, but just ask people to be patient with us. The traditional captcha's and automated defense systems aren't as effective against current AI. We don't want to make it ridiculously restrictive and difficult to get an account and start posting either, so we have to find a good balance. To give people an idea of the severity - even after we blocked automated processes, just today we've had dozens of new account attempts pending authorization, 99% of which are spam. While we work on this, we are manually approving accounts - I'm reviewing those as they come in, but please let me know if you know someone directly trying to get an account and having any trouble at all. Thanks!
  15. Excellent interview! I really enjoyed reading it, and I love your philosophy on life. There are many aspects to things you said that resonated much with me. Thank you for sharing!
  16. Yep, tis fair. I'm a couple hours in so I've at least seen it enough to find out how it works. And I do have to say, it seems to be implemented well. It's not the actual building part I'm concerned about, that is fine and interesting. It's how they implement the necessity for it in certain spots, and if it feels like fun, or just another chore to get across the lake. SO far, I've enjoyed it, and is long as it doesn't hinder world traversal *too* much, then it is fine, and will likely enhance many things about the game. I don't want to give even minor spoilers, but I did really like some of the "traversal mechanics" introduced by having to craft things and use the environment to get from A to B. Some of them were already pretty fun. And to be fair, not overly complicated. It's not like you have to build the Lego Star Wars Millennium Falcon just to get from A to B.
  17. I'm only a couple hours in, but so far I'm liking it. I'm "concerned" I guess you could say, that I'll find the crafting / fusing a bit tedious (depending on how well it is implemented throughout the rest of the game) - but the flipside of that is that it definitely makes for some interesting puzzles and you can be creative in ways you couldn't before. I definitely like the "feel" of the game, and I like the new characters and story so far. I like that it is very clearly similar to BOTW and the same engine / world type, but it feels "different" enough so far for me, that it keeps things interesting. I'm too early to really give it much of a review or anything, but I'm definitely looking forward to playing more, that's for sure.
  18. @FenrirZero I'm not sure what your issue is with him, but your response seems way over the top, argumentative, and inviting negativity into the thread. There was no need for you to devolve to name-calling and continue on a diatribe against him for a comment in this thread. Please take that elsewhere and/or try to be more constructive in the thread.
  19. Sorry to hear Gloves! I'll consider waiting until Tuesday in your honor
  20. I have a regular edition scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Unfortunately, I'll be pretty busy this weekend so I may not have time to try it out, but I'll get to it relatively soon. A few people have received today even. Hope everyone enjoys and has a great weekend!
  21. I've seen a few of them and like the original of course. I saw the recent live action remake, and honestly, I thought it was decent and cute. I remember a lot of people having problems with it when it came out, but I enjoyed it.
  22. This game wasn't on my radar, so I had no preconceptions with it. I watched the trailer, and then I watched some live play of it, and while it didn't look like the most amazing game ever, I didn't think it looked like anything *horrible.* I mean, the people playing it from the video I watched seemed to be having fun and it wasn't some promotional video, it was just people playing. If the issues are technical, maybe they will fix it with updates or do a re-release. I've played lots of games over the years that seemed way worse, so I don't know it makes me wonder if the game is THAT bad, or if it somehow starts getting negative reviews and then people see those and it frames their opinions? I have no idea. Or maybe it's just really bad, who knows. I mean, I definitely won't be shelling out $70 right now to find out, but I would try the game later at some point just to see, if it was super cheap (which, at this point....it kinda seems it will be at some point hah!)
  23. Im looking forward to and have pre-ordered all 3 of those haha!
  24. I'm actually a bit surprised at all the Daft Punk hate, but to each their own of course. I loved this - at the time it was just so... idk, different. And interesting. I liked the animation / story, and I felt the music really molded well with it. It was interesting experiment and something unique, and I thought it was fun to watch and listen to. It has been a few years since I've seen it, but I'd definitely watch again.
