that's pretty funny, thanks for the explanation. got it. I'll use food judgment to proceed. -
I'm going into a possible opportunity to get a favorite game signed and I was curious, what kind of pen would last a long time on a game cart (plastic and label)? Since it's a dark label I was going to use a thin point silver sharpie, but if another pen has better hold then I could try and get one. This question may be anathema to many here (as we more frequently are trying to REMOVE pen, rather than add it) but I think in this case it's worth it to make the exception.

Take a Game, Leave a game: Gaming Box Train 4

is there any objections about including either 1) parts for things that might be useful to the repair person, or 2) stuff that almost completely works? The first is just loose parts from projects that I don't have a use for personally. My guess is its better suited for another thing. The second one I'm thinking of is an item that works 100% except the battery cover is broken. it would be fine if you replaced the battery cover, I just haven't been arsed to do it. Not sure if these two cases are okay or not. -

krimas 2023 VGS Secret Santa Reveal Thread!
koifish replied to Secret Santa's topic in Everything Else
My secret santa was @fcgamer and he truly stole the show. I had asked for a variety of different ideas with the idea that maybe one or two things would shake out, and he went and hit a huge amount of the list, with a lot of interesting input of his own as well. Snacks, drinks, taiwanese green tea and a tea set to match (!), several very cool homebrews, a genuine taiwanese famicom original, a giant pile of extra famicom controller button inserts (fixed my famicom pads up good as new!), a stack of super famicom games (including many horse racing/derby simulators as I had hoped for), an original taiwanese switch game (!), and if that's not enough, a signed copy of his book about the history of unlicensed famicom games! (To give a sense of it all, the papers on the far-left are full-size printer pages). It's a ton of stuff! I've had a great time exploring all of the stuff he sent, and it definitely blew me away to get such a generous gift. If only I wasn't such a lousy photographer then I would have captured the display more effectively. At this rate I might not even need to do secret santa next year; I'll still be busy with all the stuff I got! Once again, a huge thank you to fcgamer for his incredible generosity. -

I only realized after I got my own SS gift that I forgot to identify myself. Glad to hear that you enjoyed the games! I had a ton of fun picking out your items! My only fear was that I would accidentally pick an FC Game with too high of Japanese language needs; I think you should be okay on all of them though. Hope you have a ton of fun! -
Thanks, Mesen plays it well. Unfortunately, I do not.

World Court Tennis (TG16) Search Function
koifish replied to Crabmaster2000's topic in Guides, Analysis, and Reviews
Do you know if it is anything specific to the TG16 release as opposed to other regions? Figured I would ask to be certain. I also see this is nearly 2 years ago; Have you found out anything more? -
Yeah I'm with you @Sumez , I like the first final fantasy because it doesn't waste my time with big story arcs or with what the characters are feeling. I only wish characters were more disposable like in SaGa 1 and 2 or Wizardry, so if I decide to change my party it doesn't cost me starting the game over. I've only played the WS version of this to any serious degree, but it feels like a good game. You can tell why it became a long-running series from how the first one plays out. I also like how it incorporates weird sci-fi stuff, like Ultima and Might and Magic did. It's not a game I would run to play though, simply because RPGs are only so interesting to play for someone who prefers dexterity games.

The "Under No Circumstances Should You Purchase This Game" Thread
koifish replied to avatar!'s topic in New Releases
Sounds like the kind of game I would play. Horrible games can at least be funny sometimes. -
My point of controversy is that I absolutely hate the existing norms for game genre names. I have a short essay I'm working on regarding this point, that I want to post here (on whatever forum such a diatribe belongs on) but in short, I think video game genre naming needs an enema, and the community needs to basically rewrite the history of game genres from the ground up.

Of course, northern Kentucky strikes again. I should have known! All that good buckeye mail is sitting in a big vat of chili as we speak. -

I think something is wrong with Ohio USPS; Over the past year or so I've had multiple packages ship from Ohio and get delayed for several days without any explanation. Things ship from here and there but only Ohio seems to give me grief. I swear it's the Bermuda Triangle of US shipping. -
🎮 Do you like playing games on modern consoles?
koifish replied to FireHazard51's topic in The Gauntlet
You know, I wanna bring up one complaint about classic game download/stream offerings that is hitting me nowadays, which is that I can't port my old saves from some of these games. Sure, NES/SNES games it doesn't matter much, because they're short, or because they have passwords, but some of those N64 and even GBC/GBA unlocks would be pure drudgery to do twice, and I shudder to think of it if we ever have GameCube to contend with. I know it's basically impossible, and really I should live with it as it is and play the cart I have on the console I still own, but if you're gonna sell me on having N64 games, it would be nice sometimes to have an "I already did this shit" option and just get a 100% save loaded in. No way am I gonna have time to unlock all of the Mario Tennis star characters and extra courts a second time. Then imagine if you had to do something like get all the emblems in sonic adventure 2 again. Save me from that nightmare, please! -

After seeing it again for the first time in a while, I'm asking the important question; When are we getting t-shirts of this? Even just the sage on his skateboard would be sufficient for me. @T-Pac
