I'll commit nerd sacrilege and say I think I was wrong to always dump on sports games as a kid. Hating jocks isn't a reason to hate their sports games. There's definitely things happening there that I What's worth hating is that they come out every year and that the used stores get flooded with them once they aren't up to date. Also the companies that make them get exclusivity deals and promptly stop making real effort. EA is a villain there but 2K Sports has their failures too, like the really terrible wrestling games that get pooped out with more bugs than Todd Howard's basement. I also dislike that sports games are the cornerstone of EA's empire of evil that slaughters good devs, and dislike that so many sports fans don't care at all and just shell out every year for diminishing returns, but I see their position; Get the best fangame ever for your hobby at a fraction of the cost of even basic fan merchandise. And if you're not into games then you don't care about some nerd's favorite company being bought out and gutted. It is what it is, I'd just argue for the exclusivity deals to all get axed so that they had to actually try and compete.

a rare higher mark for me. 9/10, only football game I could understand as a kid. Loved beating up players and throwing 99 yard hail marys for giggles.

Have you cross-referenced these pictures against other tarot card sets? Frankly I struggle to see the connection on several of these being the fact that they're presenting the same base idea, and that the frame around the cars is the same. If you could demonstrate that the shared tropes were unique to these two sets and that they wouldn't have been typical or common in tarot sets available in the 80s and 90s, or if you could get some sort of affirmation from the nights artist, then I'd be more inclined to believe it. Otherwise it's more likely to me that the cards were modeled after similar motifs and depict the same subjects than it was an intentional homage.

at this point it's zapper games that aren't duck hunt because normal people don't have tube tvs around anymore. Can't be well known if nobody can play it! On a more serious note, it's hard to say when we're on a forum that regularly plays every single NES game. Maybe journey to Silius? Lone Ranger would probably also qualify.

was it vs play? My friend and I made up rules for head to head competition in college. Also played a pure survival round robin at PAX West a few years ago. Unfortunately I choke harder than Cleveland sports teams in PvP so I never win when it counts.

sweet, one of my favorites. I don't usually have time for contests anymore but I'm definitely in on this! BTW, no reason I can't use 3DS virtual console version, right?

4, never liked these games. Also bothers me when Crash is called 3D when the gameplay is clearly 2D. Recall seeing it and Mario 64 and had no trouble spotting the real 3D game. Stuck to mega drive for 2D, better design and control overall.

Game Boy versions that were more fun than NES/SNES/Arcade?

I love both 8 bit Nintendo machines, but CV and MegaMan? You crazy. And I'm one of those atypical CV fans who likes the gb games. Only real benefit I can think of is they are shorter than the console ones, so they aren't as much of a commitment to replay. Preferring them outright overall though? Guess now I understand how people feel when I say Link's Awakening is better than Zelda 3. Dunno if I would count DK and kid icarus, aren't they all but completely different games? Like I would say the same about Golf except the first famicom game and the GB namesake are almost a decade apart (and it shows!) not to mention different courses and IIRC slightly different tuned physics. Thought the goal of this thread was for the same game released on both, like Dr Mario or Battle of Olympus. Maybe I am overthinking it however. -
Golf Grand Slam on NES is all Debussy music. Incidentally, how I discovered Claude Debussy. Though maybe he doesn't count since the classical era had long since ended when he was composing.

never before have i felt the need to see a drawing of Sonic and Tails fighting John Morris and Eric LeCarde.

got it, I was confused since the guide said "one of or all of" a given set.

@Splain should I post a nametag to show it's my Play it Loud system? Also, here's the links for previous GB contest posts. 2023: Thought I participated last year but I can't find the thread. 2022: Participation (completed 3 games) 2020: Participation (completed 22 games) ...I'll work on 2024 if life lets me. And if the Sox quit ruining my playoff runs.

EDIT: here is the Play It Loud GB ...can I just say "I participated in all the gb yearly contests" so I don't have to dig through forum posts?

This blog post appears to be a full playthrough of Quest mode. It's in Japanese, but maybe you can find something. https://g16.hatenablog.com/entry/2021/09/03/091847 -

George Clinton has done better, and never cared for Milli Vanilli (I can think of a LOT of 80s/90s R&B I would pick first).
