  1. It's refreshing when you see someone who got over it from the era and say something like that as a former Sega owner, not many even now will which is weird to a point. But you are right though GBA is more powerful than SNES and Genesis, it really is like though presentation wise a portable SNES with the only lacking part a non-dedicated sound processor and the lower resolution too. Those can be worked around, yet the output it's beyond those two, sprite pushing more on the level of a Neo Geo or Saturn, definitely pulls the same faux 3D way of making 3D the Saturn does when you get stuff like the V3D engine(VRally and Asterix) and BlueRoses (Wing Commander, Smashing Drive.) YEs some SNES games suffered, others didn't, and those who did, it was botched rush jobs, just bad/lazy coding. When you can counter a bad one with a good one you wonder, when you can see 3D games pulling what they did it's a larger WTF moment. The GBA was peak handheld until it got into trying to ape the burgeoning mobile phone market adding more area and a touch capability with the DS. With the DS, more post that, handhelds kind of lost their unique personality in a way, the gloves more came off because the clear restrictions weren't so much.
  2. Same here I was thinking of posting something of the sort on a couple things here. That lady in SA was just awesome letting that stew, learning about it, charting things, and then putting it out there fast and hard in the media so the usual clown car parade couldn't downplay or disinform about it since it wouldn't fit the narrative. And yet still as you said, petty shenanigans ensued because of the open honesty of that doctor who wasn't playing politics, just freshly learned medical science of it. And the other would be what you said, the whole Taiwan/WHO bs as they knew and knew before it got public(and outside the region when it could have been contained) but the WHO kowtowed to their buddies and buried it because being told to do so. There's no reason to ever hate on asians, hate on China, hate on the Chinese, but there is 100% reason to hate on the CCP with their nauseatingly evil party playbook run by what's essentially a presentator in chief (PRESident+dicTATOR) who's looking to control everything and everyone they can get claws into. Genocide, forced labor, re-education centers, torture, forced behavior, the list goes on.
  3. Somehow I missed this, getting Cubivore sadly for some years now is no small feat. Certain things I'm glad I held onto or recovered before GC got investor interested some years back. It's such a fantastic game, quite unique, right down to them retaining the N64 flavor (with Animal Crossing being the obvious other.) What got me was what were the motivations of Nintendo NOT releasing it, but also just happy they weren't so jaded about their own property as to not let Atlus do it which back then was huge. They just weren't as fuzzy as going in with another developer much, it's partly why Retro was so huge with them doing Metroid. Have fun with it, it's a gem, just like anotehr high ball priced one of simple design -- Chibi Robo. If you're looking for other weird ones I can give suggestions probably off some peoples radar.
  4. Wow so you're saying that defund the police central, the land of special zones and rampant idiocy when they gimped the cops caused..death?! I'm shocked, shocked I tell you. You know, I have a solution since the police are so bad. Thunderdome Let them sort it out in a large space.
  5. I wouldn't blame you. Normally it should make someone be a little concerned, but hakchi was so well set up you basically can't break the system doing it and it even copies the contents first so it's like a one click restore as well. Despite the not enough space for all NES games, it does allow for it, you can get a bypass USB port adapter and attack a stick drive to increase the load. At that point you're getting into whatever you care to stuff on it up to including (with some tweaks to hit full frame) N64. Really though I'd imagine 16bit cap at best.
  6. Wow that's hardcore, went from just collecting games straight to staples and concussions. It was quiet, nice to see you're back. Once you're not seeing double, you got some good choices to start on there. When you get to the shop card, do yourself a favor, find something unique or at least that isn't on physical media. It will limit the too many choices, and help find something more suitable. Last card I got, put it towards the 20 year old re-release of Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance which is a great game if you're into Diablo like stuff.
  7. Ehh you're underrating the PS1/Saturn-ish potential of the GBA. The problem isn't the hardware, it's either the less than competent designers, bean counter restrictions, or both. You can see some quality conversions both 2 and 3D from the early CD era stuff that works and looks great on GBA. SFA3, Super Puzzle Fighter, Mr Driller series, and into 3D with the V3D engine there's V-Rally (clone of Sega Rally 1) which on the tail end did a Gex/Spyro like game with Asterix & Obelix and another engine pulled off a PC conversion(well done too) of Wing Commander Prophecy. Legacy of Goku 1 and 2 are kind of disliked because of some bad design choices in how you attack/defend, not so much that the terrain, visuals, audio or the rest sucks, just some bad choices in mechanics. Shining Soul I've not heard was hated, but that the sequel (I owned it) was much improved and it really handles largely like a portable Diablo. Some SNES ports though while done great had others that over shadowed it with being lazy and badly optimized included in some cases but that's not the hardware to blame, it's bad people. R-Type III is a good proxy for fouling it up, but conversely Phalanx is amazing. While not a port at all the Gradius game that did pop up blows many out of the water and it's not alone. And that's your call on the second tier stuff, the Magical Quest trilogy on SNES were excellent and carried over to the GBA just as nicely (as did also Aladdin.) The FF trilogy though, largely were very improved, just some inconsistencies largely with the mode7 effects of the overworld, but that's hardly damning.
  8. I'd argue 6 is as much like 4-5 as it is a taste of what was coming with mega man x really. Diverted paths, extra gear, and so on...it's a sum of some added parts to create a unique whole that's a bridge between those 2 styles of game. I'd dare call it cheapening the game liking it to the past games really trying it up too conveniently in a package with 4+5.
  9. I'm tempted, have the cash on hand. Something about it really grabs me, and that something is the time period and the way the whole structure of the game works start to end on mechanics. it's not another tired ass boring re-run like SnS was a few years back. This one isn't just like ultrasun/moon fresh but really fresh. It's not just taking away the overly re-ran boring as hell wash rinse repeat gym battle junk with a thin story to barely tie it together. It went like US/M did, multi-layer story, no stupid gyms, but further yet, no trainers either...and further beyond that, it's live! I like the idea of not being just stuck, the capture mechanic is different, largely much of it is. It looks like a re-start almost of the style (I know it won't be, they're too scared to update it as dramatically as Zelda BOTW did to its vast benefit.) My only issue is time... I got a stack of evercade carts, some recent gamecube finds in the last week, random other goodies including some holiday period Switch presents that need teasing along with two LRG games that popped up in a box days ago too. I know if I jump to this it would get most my attention.
  10. DC seriously I'm staying out of it, not even replying to that CCP bot there, just dave, it was more nice letting those two go at it. I know well that's what it is and that the masking was meant as a catch all, not an outside barrier, as that's nothing new asian countries have done it for a long time when you get even a simple cold or fever. But you know you put it well at the end, wunderboy there still is trying to bait a fight with no inch of self control in his left coast politics and troll baiting. I'm sure this will get some stupid comment as a come back, so be it.
  11. I warned you to stop trying, it won't work. Clearly did not earn one of these as a kid.
  12. You know doing that is just going to feed into some circular trolling right? Some people just want to say others fall for the false when they're neck deep into it while suckling CCP cock basically. Just leave it alone, it's pointless both bothering and in being a wasted effort. Not like Taiwan knew what it was late Fall of 2019 and got ignored by you know... anyway, because of buddying up to the CCP.
  13. Do tell... you got me interested. What happened or what interview can you link?
  14. I wish they'd do a regionalization of Densha de Go I think it could be fun, I mean if they're worried, just do it on IOS and Android in english and see how many clicks they get for $5-10+ whatever they'd charge. I think it could work on that format too.
  15. I think I last posted a find in here about 4-5 days ago right? And amazingly it was Gamecube which just doesn't pop up much at all around here anymore sadly. Luck would have it, different location, and find part #2 and a semi-epic one at that all things considered. One of these I can't even remember hearing of let alone seeing on a shelf before, and got curious, looked it up and was stunned how much the crazy thing goes for, but hey that's the sad sick world of gamecube now right? I paid $50 for the pair with tax, the Animaniacs one was $15 before tax! Case rear plastic has a few linear defects, but the case art stiff and spotless, manual is crisp and never been opened it's that tough, game disc has not a mark on it too. The Zelda one a few little scuffy lines on the disc, manual is in great shape as is the rest... all around super win. Was lucky, just going as I daily do to half price on the way to kid pick up time, saw nothing on shelf, saw a stack of games behind the counter with stickers to go out when I discovered the toony one, then asked if they had more, a small stack of a few came from under the counter and there's Zelda. Win, win!
  16. Dodge and evade, you know the game when it comes to certain posts such as that, it's why i don't even bother to comment on the nonsense anymore. I've never watched batromo and watters before either, know the names and that the first one is female. Yeah shock, I don't watch FOX (been at least since the earlier Trump, irregular during Obama), CNN or the lot of them, I can, but I choose not to since I have Sling(for now, considering canceling that too.) Some just want to live in a sad pathetic fear bubble while largely many have just accepted things have gone endemic and moved along accepting the risk. It's basically the better choice at this point. Masks the last 2 years puffed up as a solution to then find out it was covered up the cloth ones really don't stop crap, it's just an attention diversion for a false sense of security. Fauci if you check the time line knew all well 2 years back given the emails that came out, you're right kissing CCP ass, and through a program funding the lab in Wuhan for gain of function too, fuck the lot of them.
  17. No that's what was promised, should all be what was intended, at least at a minimum. If I remember the games were essentially done or primed to be finished when that was kicked off some time ago, at least some versions of it at least. What are you so concerned about?
  18. I'm hardly playing a conservative talking point, largely given up listen to politician bullshit from either side on the matter as it's boring. Yeah so, that make were infected vs dead...and? Yup I sound cold, but I just really don't care anymore and I'm over hearing others try and play the fear card. Its very well hype, and disinformation too depending how all goes between whatever outlet you grab. The whole mess just sickens me.
  19. Ripped off, they were sold over a kickstarter so those who have them will try and likely go for scalper prices on it since the original run of the carts has come and gone.
  20. Isn't it possible to just use the NT to dump the game, but then copy it to a computer and use some app/program that can dice up the PRG and CHR files separately? I could have sworn I've seen something that does this in the past.
  21. No problem. Fcgamer tipped me off to something, good luck not getting hosed on a cart, but if you go to their website(I don't know it off hand) there's a true in every sense of it mega man sequel/clone game out since late last year called TROPHY you might want to take a peek at. Quality level from the clips I've watched is insane, and he said it plays just as nice as the capcom oldies too, so it's not just a pretty game with average wonky homebrew design/control issues.
  22. It's strange, I got new games yesterday, and instead for a few hours late afternoon/early evening what do I do? I fired up a Famicom bootleg I brought back from the dead, Super Fighter III which is the best made SF2CE clone for NES(FC) and then jumped to another thought was busted multi(FC again) and poked a few rounds into arkanoid on there. Then my eye caught the SD2SNES in the SuperNT and I put at least 2 hours on a few versions of Parodius of all things, and tapped a few minutes into a few Super Gameboy2 booted old 8bit gems. I need to get my priorities straight, but as much as it is, I hadn't had fun like that for awhile and wish I knew what motivated it since motivation is what keeps me off things for weeks at a time or more anymore these days (which I don't like.)
  23. I have the NES game too all complete, got it last year. I've been through most of the game, didn't finish it. I didn't think it was all that grossly hard until the late parts of the game so perhaps this built from the ground up NES version was made less sadist as I know I'm not some one shot expert at that. Control is great, audio visuals are high quality end of the NES spectrum too. I remember talking with Piko/Eli about this awhile back when it was kickstarted and he said the asinine difficulty was scaled back, challenge still yes, but not rage inducing with some new balancing and what not. I'd believe it because I got that far on the one I have. Of the versions I saw the NES one just blew me away the most, especially the fluid amount of animation frames Jim and others have, it's smooth like Moon Crystal on Famicom or Prince of Persia NES.
  24. I'm with fcgamer on that one, it's about the same here and has been well into last year. Even if the numbers for infection are up perhaps, deaths, and in particular tied to the current rager are very low, especially in the case of someone who didn't have a pre-existing issue that compounded it. Short of places playing the fear, woke, whatever you want to call it card they've not required the masks for a long time now, just warning signs about it being your choice if you haven't had shots. And that's the reality of it, you choose at this rate largely. The politicians are over it, and this state currently is split with a democrat governor who saw when it back off and it worked well enough when looking at the info when it's broken into variables of life, death, had shot or not, had issues or not, etc. It's mostly just a media thing, a control thing really now, probably in 2023 it'll fade after people get elected or tossed out in November.
