  1. Great thread. Here are my goals: Complete Nintendo Power set. After making a lot of progress in 2020, on something I never thought would be possible, I have about 60 issues left to go and I'm going to commit to doing this before the year is over. It won't be a mint set, there likely won't be an EON ticket or other Pokemon cards in it, but it will be the whole series. Continue collecting for Switch - not much to say here Complete the Mario Party collection - technically I finished this last week, just waiting for the last game to arrive Acquire Kirby's Dream Land 2 Acquire Warioland 4 to complete the Super Mario Land / Wario Land set Acquire an Etrian Odyssey Nexus cart to complete the Etrian Odyssey set Complete some other series like Ace Attorney, Korg across DS and Switch, every Sonic game on Nintendo consoles, Style Savvy, Cooking Mama and her spin-offs, etc. etc. Focus on strategy guides - I wasn't taking these seriously before COVID-mania started, now there are some that are really hard to find which I wish I had picked up before. Highest priority is Gotcha Force. Focus on unusual stuff - Been really enjoying picking up obscure variants lately, really don't need to be buying a lot of games this year, instead I'm chasing down some stuff I won't mention til I have 'em. Basically just looking for under the radar stuff, especially Nintendo-related.
  2. After spending 2019 just kind of randomly picking up games for the systems I had, not really having a focus, I decided to really focus on what I wanted in 2020 and see if I could land some "grails" (all CIB). I even called 2020 my "year of grails" as I had a plan of which games I was going to get (or which goals I was going to accomplish) per system. Here's how that worked out: GB - Kirby's Dream Land 2 - still don't have it, but I did land King James Bible which was my "holy grail" GBC - Shantae - gave up on getting it, then picked up the licensed repro from LRG, although I still don't have it in-hand. Also picked up Metal Gear Solid thanks to this forum which I had figured would never happen. GBA - Pocky and Rocky with Becky - never happened, probably never will happen. Shifted my focus later in the year to try to land some really obscure stuff and I did manage to land a DSI Software 2-cart release which I was very happy about. DS - Shepherd's Crossing 2 - acquired. This was my biggest purchase ever and I don't plan to spend this much again! Also landed a bunch of other games I didn't think I would manage to land like Magician's Quest Mysterious Times and Izuna 1 & 2. 3DS - Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition - acquired and with the pre-order bonus keychains too NES - my goal was a complete set of Zapper games. Didn't happen, although I did get closer to it. Not a big focus right now though. N64 - Mario Party 2 - didn't manage it in 2020 but I have one on the way finally. Also I'm done with N64 collecting, won't be keeping it for long. GameCube - Go Go Hypergrind - acquired Wii - The Last Story CE - acquired Wii U - wasn't really swinging for the fences here, I think my goal was to get Rio Olympics and I did Switch - Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime - was kind of just thinking of this as a joke and then I actually did acquire it PS1 - Klonoa - never happened, didn't manage to land any other big hitters for the system (like R-Type Delta), Finally just gave up on PS1 collecting. PS2 - Futurama - acquired, thanks to this forum PS3 - Railfan: Taiwan High Speed Rail - acquired Then I kind of branched out past games a bit, and managed to get a poor condition but complete Nintendo Power #1 and a Neo Geo Pocket Color (plus a flash cart, because I realized I really need to limit myself) which were both things I never thought I'd manage. I've also been working on completing series, and so far that's been going pretty well, I've completed a bunch of series and have some more that I'm still working on and close to completing. I had the realization halfway through 2020 as COVID-mania was seriously driving up prices that if I had decided to focus even just a year earlier on acquiring the higher end stuff I really wanted instead of just spending money randomly then I would have been much happier. I think I owe this forum a lot of credit for helping me to prioritize and think about my goals with collecting. Thanks everyone!
  3. Great find on that Trini. I once found a 32" TV and nearly killed myself trying to carry it alone. Ended up having to get rid of it because it smelled so bad of cigarette smoke too so I had to carry it TWICE. I have a 21" Trini now which is the biggest I'm willing to carry alone. If I sit close to the screen it FEELS like a 36"
  4. Late night $55 local pickup: which isn’t much of a deal, but I’ve had a really hard time finding Viewtiful Joe Double Trouble outside of eBay, and at least at this price I’m getting a better deal than just BINning it!
  5. Excellent story, thank you for sharing!
  6. Someone in a Facebook group sent me pictures of one they have from 2003. All GameCube and GBA games. I would love to find more of these.
  7. Imgur is back up and I have updated my post to link directly to the images
  8. Bought this for $30. Seller said his brother worked in retail and saved this from going into the trash. I know some of these pop up on eBay from time to time but it’s hard to find any info since old listings don’t get retained anymore. Can’t find many examples beyond eBay either. Pictures: My questions are: 1. Has anyone seen one of these before? 2. Does anyone have stuff like this? 3. Is there any interest in me digitizing this? For # 3 I am concerned about the possibility that Nintendo would not allow me to publish this online for wide consumption.
  9. Got this local deal yesterday for $50. Seller was asking $55 but when I showed up he said just pay $50 so cool beans. The box is missing the trays which is unfortunate. Also this model of Wii doesn’t support GameCube games. Bleh. But it will be good to bundle with some Wii games I plan to sell. I will keep one Wiimote, one nunchuck, and the 90 Great Games party pack. The rest I will let go. I’m just sad I didn’t get the soundtrack CD in this deal. Pretty sure I still don’t have it in my collection. Oh well!
  10. Today’s mail call: 2 hunts down. 1. Saw an article about a forgotten DS game and felt like maybe I should nab it before the attention caused the price to go up. Maybe it will, maybe not but I decided to see what I could find and saw this one listing sitting there. Made an offer on it and waited and waited and finally it got accepted without anyone else offering. The case has some wear but it looks like the cover art is not damaged, just a few creases. Might be a good buy, we’ll see. But I wish I had bought this for $9.99 back in the day! 2. I’m pretty sure I’ve been hunting this one for over a year. Each time I find a listing it’s either too damaged or too expensive. Finally I see a listing on eBay with no pictures so I quickly reach out and finally it’s a good one! It’s not mint, there’s some creases on the sides, back and bottom, but it’s pretty good for $25 and I do plan on keeping it sealed
  11. Annoyed. I finally got around to testing the PS2 that I bought locally on Dec. 8th and... it's broken. It freezes repeatedly shortly after starting up. Probably will be lucky if I can get $10 for it in this state.
  12. Feeling incredibly disenfranchised and unheard because Metroid Prime Pinball isn't on the list
  13. Wow, they really phoned it in on the french manual huh? Very different quality.
  14. I think I am only missing a precautions booklet but I need to know which one...
  15. Bump! Stuff has been moving pretty quickly so a bunch of stuff has been removed and I have stuff I still need to list... hopefully when I have more time! If you have something from my high priority list please let me know, I may be willing to buy outright.
  16. Dude, finding that Fire Emblem at GameStop is insane.
  17. $60 find! The box doesn’t have the tray and it was shipped in a bubble mailer but I’m still happy to find this colorway, with no wear at all, and NSMB2 is still installed! Will be a good console for my kids to use
  18. I would return that Age of Calamity and get an ESRB version but that’s me
  19. @drxandy I’m jealous, I wanted those Vans shoes but I didn’t get to them in time, was all sold out. I settled for a hat: I also have some other headwear, like these Super Mario 3D World promotional cat ears I got for free at NY Comic Con: This Plants vs Zombies Wall-nut beanie I got for free at Pax East: This pre-order bonus Rooster Hat for Scribblenauts: And this pre-order bonus t-shirt for Carnival Games: I have a bunch more but will have to post another time!
  20. Not at all. The later levels and the Super Luigi U expansion can be very challenging. Mario Odyssey is probably easier.
