  1. Right?? Looks amazing. Just wish new NG games weren't so expensive. I understand it, just wishing haha
  2. The Saturn is amazing! When I went cart-only and traded in my consoles; the Saturn is probably the #1 that I miss. So many good and unique titles. Not sure it is above the N64 but it coulda been a contender! I did have the super expensive titles though, so provided that you are good with spending stupid money on cheaply printed CD's.. then yes, I recommend it.
  3. Hey guys, title describes it. You can only have 1 console per company - a handheld can count, but no naming your other would-be choices, this is supposed to be hard! Mine would be.. Nintendo - SNES Sega - Genesis Sony - PS1 SNK - MVS XBox - Original XBox (the only one I played) Atari - I've never played an Atari console NEC - I've never played an NEC conole Any other companies with 2+ consoles to their name that I am not remembering/aware? I admittedly know very little prior to the NES.
  4. Just beat Death Stranding last night! Excited to play the new Luigi's Mansion!
  5. I believe SNK to be now owned by a Chinese company, so they might even be 'licensed' consoles - admittedly am not sure about these as I haven't purchased one.
  6. I knew the Sonic game wouldn't save but wasn't sure whether the S&K would override that with its own save. It is certainly the Sonic cartridge, bahh. Do your guys' copies work? Admittedly not sure with the chip whether it dies on its own due to age or whether it's just wear and tear with a well-loved game cartridge. Appreciate the help btw
  7. Crap. So would it be the Sonic or the Knuckles that would need to be replaced or repaired in that case?
  8. Hey, so I have the two combined and working. My game currently saves progress should I get a Game Over but not when I shut down the console to go do things. Is it supposed to save it or are you meant to beat it in 1 go like with Sonic 2?
  9. Honestly, because technology has changed so insanely, I don't think you can break it down by Ages. The generations work nicely.
  10. Honestly, I went with loose Genesis carts. You can buy dust covers to put on them just as with the SNES.
  11. I want to but I do not want to give EA money
  12. Tokin Games Review #0.5 Welcome to Tokin Games, my sporadic Neo Geo MVS game reviews! Why the name? The plan is essentially this – smoke a joint, play a game and then write a review. Plus; who doesn’t love puns? Alright, so with that done, let’s get on with the show. As this is my inaugural Tokin Games review, today I thought I’d write about a game I know well – Twinkle Star Sprites! This game is a legitimate contender in my books as the best game on the Neo Geo. So let’s break down why, shall we? Graphics Now I can totally understand this being contentious, as they clearly went with a cuter graphical style in a traditionally challenging genre. But put bias aside and just look at the attention to detail – the characters, whether generic or unique, all have their own look and/or style. The animations are also well done, and you legitimately want to see how each character uses their own weapons and strategies to win. In short: the graphics are great, and get an A+ in my books. Gameplay This is a vertical shooter, so you should have a general idea already about how the game plays. What makes TSS so special is that 1 or 2 players, it doesn’t matter, you are playing against an opponent. When you chain your shots together, they then get shot to your opponents’ side, who then has to contend with not only what the level shoots their way but also their opponent! I give the game an A in single player, but TSS really shines with two people playing against each other in the versus mode (A+). Soundtrack The soundtrack depends on what you enjoy, just like the graphical style. Personally, I thought the tracks were well suited to their respective level’s theme, as well as the game’s in general. The tracks are short, but do not get annoying as you play the game. Should you rather some deep and emotional tunes however, this is not the game you should be playing. B+ Replayability This is a very important category in an arcade game, and TSS has it in spades. You are never going to play the same game twice, and it is just a joy to really get your chain attacks going and seeing your opponent evade all the crap trying to crash into them. As mentioned; the animations, gameplay and soundtrack mean it is easy on the eyes and ears; which really helps you want to play the game and become a good player. A+ game! Alrighty, so that is just a sorta test attempt at writing a review. Certainly hoping you guys give your thoughts. Do you think it should be more in-depth, any categories you think can be added to the review (or should I even do it in categories) etc etc. My main idea is just to write a short and enjoyable intro to an NG game so others might want to try it. Oh, and pictures are also something I plan to use, this is just to get some other thoughts. Cheers!
  13. Phantasy Star III. Thought I was nearly done with Death Stranding but apparently the next chapter is the 1/2 mark to beating it. *sigh* This story better be worth it, because the game is decent but I am not super engaged play-wise.
  14. Dude that's insane. AES has what, 89 titles? Congratz.
  15. Wait.. it's 100$ US per Wata game to be graded, slabbed et cetera?? Holy shit.
  16. NES series'.. Mario, Zelda, Mega Man, Disney Capcom games, Castlevania, Ninja Turtles, Ninja Gaiden, Black Box games?, Bubble Bobble, Power Blade, Lolo, Dragon Warrior, StarTropics, Batman, Contra, etc etc.. I dunno, 50 seems like nothing when you really dive into the library and just look at what is worth playing. These are just series' that came to mind as well - certainly not that much thought put into this.
  17. Nah, I tend to be an original hardware sorta guy (TG mini being the main exception to this). Just a trying-to-sleep-thought with some deserved consideration. I am with the people saying 50 games does not cover all the games you'd want to play though. Both consoles are amazing.
  18. Now now, the SMS has some seriously good games. And exclusives to boot.
  19. Hey guys, just decided to do this club. Dunno whether these get popular but anything you wanna showcase, track et cetera you may want to post in this and the NG thread. Cheers
