  1. I believe/agree with everything you said, but I think it would take a significant amount of 'lower tier' comic collectors to cross over for that to be the case. Higher end comic folks are here for the money, the other tier would need to be here for the passion. I imagine some of them would 'catch the itch' but again I think it would take quite a few.
  2. This. Arguably the most dynamic frontman of all time.
  3. Yeah I was just meaning to talk about NES to keep it simple since the whole thing is just opinion anyway. But the 'which systems matter' thing is interesting too. Let's say that this new money cares about Black Box, Hangtab, and 'keys' when it comes to NES, after those have dried up do they keep going down through the NES library (Capcom, Konami, whatever) or do they switch focus to the 10 most important games on the SNES, Genesis, N64, etc...?
  4. I'm curious to hear what people think will happen to the market for cib's if the current sealed trend continues. I'm not really talking about hangtab Castlevania, white bullet Tyson's, tm Zelda's and alike and as the games are so iconic and sealed copies are scarce, it can't help but raise the values of the complete ones. I'm more asking about games that nobody but game collectors would care about. Titles that are relatively rare or sought after, but not particularly important to anyone. Pro Sport Hockey, Kid Klown, Rockin Kats.....stuff like that. The sealed Uninvited currently on Heritage is a good example, pretend that goes for something stupid, how much (if any) will that affect prices for a mint cib? From what I understand most comic folks don't have a library of books in their collections like many of us. They don't go for complete sets of Uncanny X-Men or Amazing Spider-Man, just the handful of issues they deem important. So it doesn't seem like their reach would extend far enough to the rest of the NES set to change it much. But people are speculating so hard on anything sealed it has me wondering what others think.
  5. Yep! Enough room left over for some boxes accessories, VHS tapes and the cib console
  6. Even as a huge turbo fan I have to admit Neutopia is completely shameless. Calling it a 'zelda clone' doesn't even describe how much it's like the original LoZ, I remember being embarrassed by it as a kid. Although I've never heard anyone suggest you should buy a turbo so you can play it.
  7. I've always been impressed with the 3 16 bit castlevania's for 3 different systems in a span of 3 years. Rondo, CV IV, and Bloodlines area all unique, and all awesome.
  8. Agree with both of these choices. I love the Duo R/X as well
  9. You could film yourself packing it up, word on the street is that it helps when dealing with ebay customer service during a nsad dispute. Print the label beforehand then film it going into the box, packing it up, and attaching the label in one continuous shot.
  10. Thanks for all the kind words everyone! I apologize if you've seen this more than once (not to you @DefaultGen), but I'm just excited and it feels good to finish. @Lago Yeah I truthfully only started going for the set because of the cabinet. I grabbed that in April of 2017 and probably only had 20 or cib's at that time, but figured "what else am I going to put in here?". Kind of the perfect storm as I had been near the end of my turbo set for a while so was looking for something new to focus on. And I had just recently joined @Sign Collector Guy's Facebook group and was loving people's setups in there and wishing I could grab a cabinet of some sort and voila! Lucked out on this cabinet on offerup or something like that. Most expensive piece was unsurprisingly the sculptors cut manual, I don't know about the "best deal" but my favorite pickup was grabbing the red tv as I had already convinced myself I'd never be able to grab one. But I put out a ISO post on IG and Facebook and had one on my doorstep just 2 weeks later.
  11. This is the point I've been making ever since this started. I just don't think you can make one to one parallels between hobbies like that. I can absolutely see the Mario's, Zelda's, and alike stay high value wise, but I hope some of these speculators take a bath on the Slaloms and Urban Champions of the world.
  12. Why would I want that garbage when I can just play the SUPERIOR Xbox version? Check yo phone fool
  13. It's no Odyssey² obviously but I'm proud of it.
  14. Trying to Magically Chase down the last turbografx game I need. But since that could take awhile and I'm almost done with my Genesis black box subset, I think I'm going to do Dreamcast next.
  15. I'm probably not the best person to ask since it's my favorite system and I'm an unapologetic honk for the platform. I'll try to keep my thoughts objective though..... It's an AMAZING system to play and collect for! As @Dr. Morbis said it's basically a souped up NES. I honestly don't understand why people would enjoy the NES but not the turbografx if we're talking about gameplay. But just because it wasn't as successful as the NES (here ) doesn't mean it should be ignored. The closest comp I can think of is the Sega Saturn. Flopped here, a ton more games came out in Japan, and you'd be hard pressed to argue it was 'better' than the PlayStation. But there's no reason you couldn't enjoy playing/collecting it. I think the library is excellent as far as the ratio of solid titles to duds is concerned. But imports really are where this console shines. If you get into the turbo but ignore the pc Engine you'd be doing yourself a disservice. Most of them are completely playable without any knowledge of Japanese. There's a ton of excellent ports/sequels/prequels of games you already know on the turbo/pce. Street Fighter, Solomon's Key, Twin Cobra, Twisted Tales of Spike McFang, Shinobi, Out Run, Ninja Gaiden, Bubble Bobble, Gradius, R-Type, Double Dragon II, Dragon Spirit, Raiden, Image Fight, Wonder Boy, Chiki Chiki Boys, Truxton, Bomberman, Adventure Island, Splatter house, Adventure Island, Pocky and Rocky,....I could honestly keep going. And all this before even getting to platform exclusives unrelated to other franchises Grab a jp duo with a recap and region switch and start grabbing things slowly. Or get an everdrive as others have suggested and start exploring. You won't regret it.
  16. Other than N64 the only one I've ever really tried to complete was Turbografx/Duo. I'm 3 away from those two so I'll probably get that done at some point. Outside if turbo though I'd say Dreamcast would be the next candidate as I have roughly half the library already.
  17. Yeah the Nintendo branded tv really is the cherry on top. I was fortunate to be able to grab that separate from the cab
  18. It is unfortunate but not a huge deal. I could just run a vcr to it if I was desperate to have something playing on the screen. But I have a local-ish tech that I'm confident could get it up and running if anything truly needs repaired. Just have to find time to get it to him.
  19. It actually has a VCD player built in, used to run these discs with Nintendo Power Previews if you want to youtube them. I can't quite get the tv to work properly as all the buttons on the front are disabled. I assume it's in "retail mode" or whatever, I synced a universal remote and can do a few things but 'playing vcd' isn't one of them.
  20. The last two pieces I needed (Stunt Racer manual and ISS 2000 cart) both arrived yesterday. Even though N64 isn't my favorite I really have enjoyed collecting for it. Cardboard and carts is more fun than discs and cases. Plus I happened upon this cabinet 2 1/2 years ago and had to fill it with something
  21. Yeah I don't know if jealous is the right word either but to be clear I'm not jealous because I wish I had them to keep them. I have very little interest in owning that stuff obviously since I've been passing on it. I think most of the black box games are average at best. But I'd love to be sitting on a stockpile I could sell and purchase actual cool stuff.
  22. I work for the Social Security Administration and take retirement/disability claims. If you've ever seen an episode of The Office, that is my nightmare.
  23. I remember when the Zelda moonshake 1/500 was on eBay a year or so ago and forgot to bid. Still haunts me.
  24. If you're in love with it I don't think that's unreasonable. You obviously don't want to overpay but it's not one of those things you'll just be able to pick up next spring when you're in the mood or whatever. I know a couple others with them and I doubt they'd let them go for 650.
