  1. @DefaultGen, I just watched you "Retro Gem Miner - Top 5 Hidden Gems on NES???” video. I laughed and enjoyed it a lot. And more importantly I have some new game(s) on my list
  2. You can use the manuals on Digital Press. https://www.digitpress.com/library/manuals/
  3. My PC rig? It is a AMD K6-2 running MS DOS and win 98 with 5-1/4" and 3-1/2" floppy drives.
  4. @Scrobins any standout above the bunch that you suggest?
  5. It was very good, I enjoyed 2018 a lot. Someone on eBay has two copies: https://www.ebay.com/itm/8-BIT-XMAS-2018-NES-Christmas-Nintendo-game-cartridge-RetroUSB-card-new/143168135156?hash=item21557c5ff4:g:spgAAOSwAvFchwrx
  6. I paid $44 off Amazon Japan back in January. $20 is a crazy good deal, it is a limited time offer through Play Asia.
  7. @dale_coop, welcome to the forum. These screenshots looks great. Please post the demos and ROMs when you are ready. I m very interested in trying them out.
  8. I will try it out, thanks for the suggestion.
  9. Retrotainment, makers of Haunted Halloween 85 and 86, are on board as well. Still looking for more + someone to spearhead the development to tie all the games together.
  10. @Gloves , that is very true. VGS was a fresh start in users, content, and policy. To that point, the purpose of this thread, IMO, was to figure out what to do and get everything out on the table. To my knowledge, there is no current policy to label NM games differently or not. I consider, Beau a friend much like @Scrobins does. He stated his opinion, did not attack anyone, and let the discussion go from there. So please, try to keep the discussion on track. To me personally, labels are good for information. I will look at each game itself. However, I can see where labels can come with assumptions for some people. I am a very grey area person though. I don't have a hard line in many of my opinions. To that, I can see where labels mean certain things and if you differ from that meaning, that is a different classification. Back to my opinion, I am very loose with classifications, meanings, etc. Others are not. They matter a lot to them. Some people will read this thread and be informed and maybe change their stance in one way or another. Others, on the fringe, won't. Seeing this, no matter how much you discuss, it won't get every single person to agree to one thing. Going back to an earlier post I wrote, how do you move forward. Is it left up to the thread creator, the dev, is there a vote on what to do, or is there a VGS policy created.
  11. My copy arrived today! It is hard, but a lot of fun. Who can get the best score? Post it here:

    Dimension Shift

Looks very impressive. I have been enjoying your YouTube video clip updates as well. Excited to see where this goes.
  13. @Scrobins you are added to the leaderboard. His submission brings up a good talking point. How many scores should displayed per game category? 1, 3, 5? Also can a user only hold one score per game category or hold multiple? My opinion is 5 top scores per category and a user can hold multiple: i.e. Game X (Top Score) 1. Scrobins 2. Scrobins 3. Gloves 4. Rain Warrior 5. Gloves However I want this to be more of a discussion then what I think.
  14. Thank you @FrankenGraphics, your thoughts are very well put together.
  15. @Scrobins congratulations! I am out at a work event. I'll add it to the leaderboard later.
  16. My theory is the pasting is not a plain text paste, but is taking formatting over. For whatever reason, it doesn't always translate it the way you think it would. I.e., default text in word, you want black on black here, right?
  17. I think there has been good points made, no matter where you land. I am not a developer, just a fan of Homebrews. So take this for what it is worth. My suggestion of how to proceed: 1. Discussiton is open for a set period of time. 2. Some sort of grouping of options is reached about what are the main routes to take. 3. A poll is opened for a set period of time for those options.
  18. To give it a little more focus: Should we mark Homebrew projects that use NESmaker for its development on VGS with an informational tag?
  19. I think this discussion is worth having, but it is growing larger than the purpose of this thread. Can we move over to another thread topic if needed?
  20. I think it would depend on how it was implemented. If we are talking straight about Secret of Mana, I can offer some feedback. It was multiple tiers of circles organized by category with icons for each subcategory. On its surface it sounds intuitive. However for me, I fumbled around it. I think it was the lack of text with a combination of the icons they used. If there was text that listed the category somewhere in the tier. Maybe off to the side or in the middle, that would help. So I can understand quickly I am in the wearables tier. Also more descriptive icons, especially in the options tier. I always go in to the wrong one when trying to see the characters stats.
  21. If your are talking about an options screen, I prefer something like the second row in your examples. It is not a high-end design, it is really just a simple list, but it very easy to understand. The ones that use diagrams or symbols may become okay when you get used to it's logic overtime, however they are difficult in the begining. Don't use circular menus like Secret of Mana.
  22. What does everyone think about how this is setup? Do you think FPGA consoles, clone consoles, and emulators are okay? Do you think it should be different for speedruns? i.e. only original equipment
  23. I mean, Gloves' original SHMUP Leaderboard.
