  1. @SoleGooseWe got a few good points to why Spook-o'-tron would work and be a good fit. What do you say now, did we sway your opinion? For game play clarity, there could be a transition screen between games with a tag line and a control scheme diagram. Something simple and quick to understand quickly in a couple seconds. "Get ready to shoot some enemies" above a diagram of two NES controllers vertical with "Move" below the left one and "Shoot" below the right one.
  2. @Scrobins Great suggestions. Bovinium Quest has random elements that have a lot of risk / reward to get the best time and score. Same with Cowlitz Second Adventure and UXO. To add something else to consider in regards to games that could be solved by memorization, i.e. The Incident or other puzzle games, what if the level selected was randomized from a pool of say 5 or 10 levels, or the selection is based on current score? And for Nebs 'n Debs - collection hunt quest similar to Mario in NWC. Some other suggestions: -Boss Battles? Battle Kid, Alfonso's Attic Adventure, Haunted Halloween 86 or Micro Mages - Hunt Quest? Alfonso, Micro mages - Racing? F-FF - NES Virus Cleaner 2 (if it comes out in time) - Assimilate
  3. @SoleGooseThanks for the words of encouragement and guidance. About your dismissal of Spook-O'-tron as a candidate, I don't see the control scheme as a barrier. So you need to use two controllers turned sideways? They are unmodified standard controllers. It may be confusing for a player going into it blind, never playing it before. However, if you think of the origin of the NWC, it was a competition for the best of the best. I believe the players knew the list of games prior to playing the cart and were versed in them. Should the same criteria apply to the HBWC? If so, I think Spook -O'-Tron fits the bill.
  4. Welcome Ellen, glad to see you over here. I am excited for your current and future projects. They look great.
  5. So I have been on again off again vocal about this, but when are going to see the next Homebrew World Championship project? HBWC 2012 was a blast and left me wanting more. Especially since there has been so much activity and releases since then. 2020 is coming up fast, but it is also the 30th anniversary of the NWC. It would make a great fit as far as timing. The idea that has been in my head, competition at MWGC for highest live score. Winner takes a special edition cart. I know it is pie in the sky dream, but hey I can wish. What games come to mind as a good fit for the next HBWC competition cart?
  6. Welcome Doug. We need more Brewers! Glad to see you here.
  7. TurboGrafx 16 / PC Engine. All the SHMUPS are the draw and the Hue cards are so interesting. It has a library of games I mostly have not played yet. However the cost is prohibitive.

I have been following this project awhile and it gets better and better. Excited for your future updates.
  9. Hey, eye color and height, and I'll will have most of your driver's license number figured out minus a few random numbers.
  10. I agree with this. When I back on kickstarter, I check on the creator's past projects and what happened to them. Also, more so, how far along the project is and how transparent they were with the project development. For all the individuals you have there, no reservations about backing their projects. Out of the blue projects, where the company or creator has no past projects, the campaign and supporting documents would have to be top notch for me to back it.
  11. @Gloves I purchased mine for $220 +$40 shipping off eBay in January. I haven't been following prices since then, so I can't say. 37 lbs Here is the short manual: https://www.broadcaststore.com/pdf/model/15570/sony_pvm14m2u.pdf Use can search for the longer service manual online as well.
  12. Welcome aboard Kev. I play and collect many a homebrew. I back Estoscerro and recently added Halloween Scare Carts 2016 and 2017 to the Collection. I am planning on going to Midwest Gaming Classic, hopefully I see you there. Glad you came over to VGS.
  13. @Gloves I didn't realize you talked more in the other thread. I replied more in depth there. In short, Sony PVM-14M2U was a good model for me. You can compare models using the info on retrorgb website above. Besides the inputs the unit takes, the biggest difference is number of horizontal lines, 400, 600, or 800. I think the model I use or one similar would work well for you. It takes RGB, S-video, and component. How I have it set up: Component switch with NES, Wii, and a 486 computer through a scaller (Extron VSC 500) PlayStation on S-video. In this setup, I don't need to switch cables at all. You can do this with a RGB switch as well. They are less common, scart switches are common, but expensive. You can make a RGB switch using a VGA switch and adapters. Or just unplug cables in the back as you need to.
  14. @Gloves I have a Sony 14" model PVM-14M2U. It has RGB / component (you switch by an input on the front), S-video, and composite inputs. Picture is good and it works well for me. You probably gathered from the other information, you might need RCA to BNC adapters for plugging in cables or a scart to BNC adapter.
  15. @Gloves I think it helps to ask what features and inputs you want out of the PVM or BVM. For me, it was important to be able to use both component and RGB. Some models only take RGB, others only take S-video and composite. Older units have less ease of adjustments, i.e. no or little dials on the front. If you are looking for a deal, be flexible about the screen size. However I would suggest 14" or larger. Once you nail down some of your wants, we can guide you to models.
  16. Gun Nac. Love it, can't bring myself to buy it at its price. Hoping one day it will come down.
  17. @Gloves I might be blind, does it only display on desktop page and not mobile?
  18. Those are all great. To be honest, I enjoyed Bloodstained Curse of the Moon more than Ritual of the Night. Castlevania Symphony of the Night has a special place in my heart and Ritual did not replace it. Other Switch games I would recommend- Platformer: - Blaster Master Zero, it was so good. - It wasn't for me, but a lot of people like Celeste. Point n click adventure: - Darkside Detective Farming(if that is a genre): - Stardew Valley ( Replaced Harvest Moon SNES for me) Adventure: - Zelda Link's Awakening remake ( I would put BOTW here instead, but as you said it wasn't for you) - Kamiko (good and cheap game) Supposed to be good, but have played yet: - OwlBoy - The Messenger - River City Girls - Katana Zero - Cuphead - Enter the Gungeon
  19. No switch games for yourself? I found quite a lot that I enjoy. I end up splitting my time between NES and switch.
  20. @JamesRobot I see we are of similar taste. To the best Mega Man and the best forum
  21. My wife and I hiking in Iceland a few years ago.
