  1. I have a feeling the modding of 3ds won't keep people from collecting. The casual gamer may very well opt to pirate over buying carts though. Most of the consoles I modded have resulted in reduced or no new purchases. It also hasn't caused me to sell games. My Wii U stuff is still on the shelf. I wouldn't be surprised if these higher prices stay. 3ds may be a missed handheld for a lot of people playing catch-up. Switch has brought a lot of people back to gaming.
  2. Wow. That is a long time to be removed from current gaming. Even if you don't like the AAA stuff there has been tons of great Indies games in that time.
  3. Do GameCube discs come out pretty well? Some of our games are starting freeze despite looking clean.
  4. Your setup sounds like ours. We have a backlit GBA, SP, MiSTer for TV, modded New 3DS. I don't mind adding more for the right look. Sometimes the image just doesn't look right. FireRed on 3ds vs GBA was a recent example.
  5. I think that's what my wife has. Maybe I will ask for permission to mod it. I'm torn between if modder hers or buying my own will get me in more trouble
  6. Which version of the handheld is people's go to? I've seen the DSi XL is well liked. I'm considering picking on up to avoid scaling issues on 3ds.
  7. This is a big part of why I just cut the price and sell here. eBay takes a big cut and I don't trust users to not rip me off. Hopefully you can disbute once it arrives.
  8. I played about 20 minutes of it years ago and didn't get it. I want to give it another shot. They seem like interesting games but I've never given them a go. I don't have an interest in NES hard but this I would try.
  9. My experience with the DS is extremely limited but what I have played has been great. It feels like a portable SNES in a way. I know the GBA may have been closer hardware wise but the games seem better with DS. Refined RPGs are what I am looking forward to digging into. Plus there are some great platformers and action games. Castlevania, Contra, etc.
  10. I am onto Wind Waker and Pokemon Fire Red. My goal is to play each gen of Pokemon and all the main zelda games. I'm starting with the 3d games and will move onto 2d after.
  11. I would like to play this. Hopefully the rom gets dumped.
  12. Oh good idea. I need to set up the NeoGeo core and never thought to use the Saturn controller. It could be the perfect fit.
  13. I will second the 8bitdo wireless stuff with a Bluetooth adapter if needed. Also I have a retrobit wireless Saturn controller. Has adapters for the console and Bluetooth. I use both on MiSTer with great results. The Pi should be the same way.
  14. I remember Mew and Missingno being a thing while it was popular. A friend had a GameShark so that helped.
  15. If I want a special edition I preorder, otherwise I'm switching to wait for a game to come out and see if I care. Lately I either have no time to play a game or learn enough about the game to lose interest. Paper Mario lacking an XP system is a recent example. I've preordered and picked up too many games only to not play them. It's been a huge waste of money. If I had to pick one place to preorder it would be Best Buy. They package stuff well and have release day delivery. Amazon sucks at packaging but you get release day delivery. Gamestop packages well but ships after release or charges $10 to mail on release day. Apparently they have the games but don't want to ship ahead of time. I'm getting tired of their weird moves to squeeze extra dollars out of you but that's another topic.
  16. Pokemon Red was amazing. I put so much time into the game. Multiple playthroughs early on, multiple passes of the elite four maxing out my party, even some time chasing glitches. The Pokemon were cool and the world was interesting to me. It felt varied and really gave the feeling of a large adventure. The music was fantastic too. It was the first game of its kind I played. It took me years to discover RPGs and realize Pokemon was one. Even as an adult I can go back in the form of Pokemon Yellow. I appreciate it differently now. I remember the mew under a truck and someone claiming if you stood in front of a vending machine for an hour and hit A a door would open to a secret. None of it worked for me! The only other Pokemon I have played is heart gold and sword. I should really check out gold on Gameboy to compare. Somehow it was never on my radar despite having Nintendo Power.
  17. The game has faired better than I expected. For the people that rated it the game seems solidly average. I kind of expected this audience to favor 0-4 at best.
  18. For a while I was all about the authentic experience. Console with cart into a CRT. As I learned more I eventually heard about everdrives and got one. I then learned about the OSSC and HDMI mods for a flat panel TV. Eventually I tried out FPGA consoles like the Super NT. Each one of these steps was a departure from the true experience many of us talk about, but the games still felt the same to play. After some time I realized I could get the same gaming experience with an FPGA solution (MiSTer) on my living room TV. Sure I may be using an 8bitdo controller (solutions exist for a real controller) and a flat panel (there is an analogue out solution for CRT/PVM) but it is close enough. It felt responsive and looked fantastic. I realized I no longer needed 35 years worth of equipment to be able to play the games I enjoy. With that I have been selling and the last few months have been great for letting some of those items I'm on the fence about go. It was easy to hold onto a game when I would break even, but a lot harder when I would double or triple my money. I get collectors wanting a library of history and content, but it isn't for me. I just want to enjoy a game in my free time. With that in mind I will keep selling while stuff is good. It has helped pay down some debts and allowed me to work on other projects.
  19. Most of my console time is N64 or Switch. I own a decent number of games for each but my couple of Saturn games may be more valuable. If Magic Knight Rayearth ever comes down my favorite consoles will be most valuable.
  20. The more I think about this my number has to be lower. When I look for a new game to play I will often start 2 or 3 and see what sticks. The others go into the backlog with the exception of games I know I will never play. GTA 5 just got removed from my Steam account this morning. I know I will never touch it again so I don't want it taking up space. I view my number higher because that 45 minutes of play is instead of watching a review or trailers. I don't really consider it gaming. If so I failed to finish Final Fantasy X-2 twice this week and Final Fantasy X once.
  21. Mine too. I have 150ish games on there and play the same handful. All my top games have been played on other accounts or systems too. Recently I set up my backloggery profile. I have over 300 games I need to get caught up on. Typically I play through 15 or so a year. I could never buy a game again. Probably 75% of games I start I finish.
  22. I was expecting a bit more from the governor's conference today. Guess we will keep going in the same direction for a bit. As long as nothing goes too crazy. I'm almost out of toilet paper.
