  1. I tried shifting the numbers up or down by a consistent amount as well as converting the numbers to their corresponding letter of the alphabet. Looking forward to seeing who gets this. I just hope I don't wake up at 2am and try to crack this.
  2. Majora's Mask is done as of tonight. It was kind of mixed for a while. I enjoyed the world and the people roaming around the three days. My original plan was to get all masks but gave up. I realized if I forced myself to 100% it right now I will end up hating it. Instead I learned a lot about the game and hope to return soon. Like OOT I will get a little further each time. Worth a playthrough if you haven't tried it yet.
  3. This is exactly how I approach it. Give me a modern product that is a fair value and you can have my money. Make it unavailable and you cannot complain about people seeking it out. I've re bought stuff plenty of times since it had nice upgrades and a reasonable rate. I've even gone so far as to purchase Blurays/games from other countries to support the studio since the US licensing locked something down to Netflix etc.
  4. Exactly. The Wii Ware stuff isn't gone forever. Scott Pilgrim is still around. The bigger issue is people's ethics towards how to obtain them. Are you comfortable pirating stuff you legally bought to maintain access to the media? Are you comfortable modifying your system to play it? If so digital isn't keeping these games from existing forever. If not, hope someone like LRG makes a definitive version of the games you want. I hope next gen is the real beginning of consoles acting like PCs. Let my digital PS5 purchases carry forward to PS6. You read the specs and the hardware is basically a PC. Let's just treat it like Steam already.
  5. I've been meaning to watch that video. The fact that it natively boots without user intervention is the part that is notable. I haven't bothered buying discs to see what this is about myself. It could be a cool tool for homebrew games down the road. It would be cool to see PS2 get attention like Dreamcast does.
  6. I'm the same as those above. Most of my games are now on PC and all digital. I have even gone so far as to sell physical console copies in favor of cheap PC copies. Steam is big and I don't expect them to disappear anytime soon.@BortLicensePlate has it right about steam sales. No need to pay full price and regret a purchase. Animal Crossing has shown me how convenient it is on console too. With every generation of games floating around online and on many peoples flash carts I think it's reasonable to assume todays games aren't going anywhere either. Worst case we are waiting on homebrew devs to bring everdrive equivalents to more modern consoles.
  7. It is an issue for a lot of people. I mod my consoles once they become last gen. Doing so allows you to backup saves and games. My steam library is backed up on 2 hard drives to avoid data caps and server issues. Admittedly these are not action most want to take in order to keep their games. I'm just glad there are options.
  8. We played through Helltaker tonight. It's a fun, short, silly puzzle game. Free on Steam. It's worth the hour or so of your time.
  9. Wasn't Spyro one of the switch titles where the first game was on the cart and the rest was all download? It's kind of a slap in the face to throw a cart in there with next to nothing on it. The company could pay the extra couple bucks for the larger cart but instead they stick you with 1/3 of a game and eat up your internal memory. It's part of why I went digital. If they are shorting me anyhow I might as well get some of the conveniences digital has. I can't blame anyone here who may have abandoned modern gaming. It's a real mixed bag.
  10. Not to completely excuse the updates but I have found Nintendo's updates speeds underwhelming. They have been slow wired or wireless. Not an issue with PlayStation, Xbox, or PC. For some reason Nintendo servers have been slow to download from on my end.
  11. You are right about printing. Anything I've ever seen done at home looks rough. Usually to the point I would rather get my sharpie out. China seems to love copying everything. If anyone does it will be them. It will be fun comparing it to the real thing at the very least.
  12. I'm not much of a collector anymore but one of the few consoles I could see buying games for is the PS2. Recently I saw that someone released FreeDVDBoot. Essentially it got backups running on unmodified consoles. I've attached a retroRGB article and you can see a burned disc loading Shadow of the Colossus. No USB, no freemcboot, no ethernet share. This seems like software that could be convenient for those who want to check out Rule of Rose for an evening but aren't ready to drop $500 for a CIB copy. I haven't kept up on the bootleg situation the last few years. Could this be the entry point for a bunch of cheap repros to start flooding ebay and Ali Express? Over the next year or two I could picture someone modifying that ESR software referenced in the article to remove the image that comes up on screen before entering the game. The average person wouldn't know the difference. Supposedly, with this found it could help similar efforts with the remainder of the Playstation consoles as well. I've already burnt out on cart collecting due to bootlegs and price and if the disc based stuff gets flooded with junk I will be done completely. I'm glad we have VGS, because this is the one place I trust to buy retro stuff. RetroRGB Article
  13. I think you are right about that. Despite our interest on this site I think next gen will be all digital for a ton of people. GameStop will take in a ton of trade of this gen but not see the sales to follow. I am slowing my preorders with them for fear of not getting my money if they file bankruptcy.
  14. I've heard similar experiences from others who emailed. I would call myself but last time it was an hour wait at least. I have about $100 worth of preorders they failed to give us I want to cancel. Just waiting for my store to open since corporate hasn't worked out so far. Hoping we have better luck with this situation. GameStop has to be hurting after the lockdown. You think they would do anything for the customer right now.
  15. I am mostly working through achievements while waiting for the next update. The big one for me is turnips. I should have known the final milestone would be as large as it is. I plan on lining my beach with turnips for a couple weeks. Money will be no object soon enough.
  16. The oldest I have is a windows 95 computer. I recently picked up a free CRT monitor on Craigslist. Hoping to upgrade that at one point. I also have a windows 7 computer from about 10 years ago. I'm not sure if its worth keeping. It has an Athlon II 640. Perhaps I could be a starting point for something to run some elder scrolls games. I've had mixed luck with Windows 10 on a CRT.
  17. Hopefully they honor the old ones for you. I can't be the only who didn't bother shopping at gamestop online during the shutdowns. I'm looking forward to my store opening. I have a few preorders to cancel.
  18. I would really like to know this as well. Mine expire every month since I don't order anything online from them.
  19. I've never been interested in watching him or the other huge Twitch channels. Stuff like streaming in public bathrooms just isn't for me. I will stick to the speedrunners myself. I'm curious to see if there is a follow-up lawsuit. These big streamers are making a ton and I'm sure they would want to keep that going.
  20. I can raise the prices if you want..
  21. Bump for Switch Shantae games
  22. I would gladly sell it. More often than not if I haven't even opened it I will never play it. That's one of my indicators when purging. Sealed years later? I didn't even care to look at the contents.
  23. I forgot tomorrow is the big bug off in animal crossing. I should probably hydrate too.
  24. May was a good month for us. Time to celebrate by all coming together for fireworks.
  25. I would be all for this. The only place I see decent usage is my local Heinens. Outside of that it is real spotty. Preventative measures instead of shutdown would be a nice compromise.
