  1. i had a similar thing happen. i only have a handful of saved searches, so this may be too much work for you, but i had to redo every saved search. and not just once. had to play around with it (adding/removing spaces inside the quotation marks, etc.) until it stopped giving me dozens of results for an item that generally only shows up once every couple months. pain in the ass.
  2. have you asked for a picture of the error message? i agree that it seems suspicious all around.
  3. expand your interests. whether that be into a new system, new genre, new publisher, or a completely new hobby. The world is filled with so many awesome "things" that there's always something new!
  4. interesting choice, @Reed Rothchild. not a game that really ever gets talked about now, but was EVERYWHERE back in 97 or whatever. I occasionally think about adding this to my collection, but i know i would never play it, so i haven't. yet. but still, maybe someday.....
  5. that has been my Plan Z since the beginning. If i have to go digital, i will (in this instance only!). But i wanted to avoid that since i would likely end up double dipping if i did go that route. Luckily, my Best Buy order is marked as shipped. Also, my Target order, one day after being delayed, has also shipped. so i guess i'll have 2 copies in time for bday fun times! edit: games arrived today!
  6. the last option seems the most sane, so it should be (and is) of course in the lead by a wide margin. that being said, i chose the first option. If nuclear war breaks out, we're all dead sooner rather than later. all my games are at my house, where my family lives. We'll just stay home and ride it out. fuck it. now, playing the games will quickly become impossible as the electrical grid goes to pot, but that wasn't included in the options, so i'm ignoring that aspect.
  7. i am on a rush against time to make sure i have this game before next Friday. To that end, after getting the aforementioned Amazon email, i proceeded to preorder from Target (this was on 10/9, still showing the 10/11 release date, and an expected 10/18 delivery). Two days later (so on release date, 10/11), i get a "delayed until 10/25" email from Target. Also, i checked with the local indy game store, and they said they still have the 10/11 date on file but won't see the game "for at least a week after that". Best Buy shows they have it available for immediate shipping (not in store in my town), so i have ALSO ordered it from them. when/if i get an actual shipping notification, i will cancel my other preorders. Gamestop is also showing they have it available for immediate shipping (also not in store in my town). So at least i have one more option if it comes to that.
  8. wow, @CasualCart you really went above and beyond with the Abadox. that is amazing, and one of my favorite things you've done on this site. i said it last year, but this thread really is one of my highlights of the board. Keep up the good work!
  9. Mario Run was fun, but once i had beaten all the main levels, i never touched it again. Pokemon Go was kinda fun, but it must've been too intense for my phone because it crashed all the time. haven't tried any of the others, but i'm just not a mobile gamer. i hope to hell they never make a mobile Zelda. i would feel obligated to buy and play it. please, no.
  10. if we ever create game series specific charms, it might motivate me to take pics of my collection. i can't decide if that's a good thing or not.
  11. Nintendo really upgraded. the gold cartridge and packaging has become iconic. that black box cover SUCKS HARD. Punch-Out isn't too bad tho. but obviously the Tyson cover is the way to go.
  12. Iam8bit just announced they've partnered with Retrotainment and Topps to release a new game for the NES based on classic card line, Garbage Pail Kids. Not sure how i feel about this. On one hand, it's pretty neat that something like that is getting a real release in 2022 2023, but on the other, i don't know that i am interested enough for an $80 purchase. https://www.iam8bit.com/products/garbage-pail-kids-nes
  13. i have this preordered physically on Switch through Amazon. It is supposed to have a release date of October 11th (next Tuesday). This morning i get an email that the expected delivery is November 11-14. I know the XBox (and possibly PS) version(s) got pushed back to 10/25, but that's all i can see. Anybody have any info on if/when this will ship? i was REALLY hoping to have it before my birthday party weekend (10/21) so i could play with friends. If no better updates, i guess i'll be calling around locally on Tuesday to see if it actually came out anywhere.
  14. i rated it a 6/10. i love the vibe. the characters are fun and interesting. the music is, of course, awesome. but the gameplay, is just kinda meh. Like many others, i've popped it in a few times, wandered, explored, collected, and just didn't get hooked. I reserve the right to eventually give it a really solid play and rate it higher, because i suspect that's what would happen if i understood the game more.
  15. just had to move my console tv out of my basement to hopefully get it fixed. it's from 1986 and i had a hell of a time finding someone that would even look at it. should hear back this week. fingers crossed!
  16. same. with the exception being 70s Kung-Fu flicks. those dubs are just SOOO bad i can't stand them.
  17. there was a magazine ad back mid/late 90s that i remember. It said something like 'this is your only weapon' and it showed somebody's arm cocked with a fist. When you unfold the flap, you see that it is actually a severed arm. Anybody remember that one?
  18. yes. i prefer to play just about everything via original cart/disc and console. and era-accurate controllers as well. anything else just doesn't "feel" right. my biggest exceptions would be extremely minor: i don't have a PS1 or an OG Gameboy, so i play those actual games via PS2 and GBA/Super Gameboy. my Atari 2600 doesn't always work right, and the controllers are very hit-or-miss. Therefore, i hate playing it. If i get a hankering to play 2600 (or more accurately, arcade) games, i bust out one of the multiple game collections i have for the PS2 (Atari, Activision, Taito, Namco,..... i think there's one more but i can't think of it right now). I mentioned in another thread recently that i picked up Sonic Gems Collection so that i could play Sonic CD. i don't own a SegaCD and have no plans or desire to ever own one, so this seemed like the best option. I'm sure there's some other compilations that i grabbed to play games of unowned consoles as well.
  19. i don't understand the appeal for the 2600 game rereleases.
  20. man, i picked Limp Bizkit because i assumed they would get annihilated and thought it would be funny. joke's on me i guess.
  21. not gonna lie, this discussion has me super interested to play them. i previously dismissed them as "hard for hard's sake" kind of games, which don't interest me. Thank you @Sumez, @Brickman, and @Floating Platforms for engaging in this!
  22. bought Pokemon Blue on launch day. Picked Bulbasaur because Charmander was the badass and Squirtle was the "cute" one. Bulba seemed like the odd one out and i felt sorry for him.
  23. in general, i try not to buy the collections that come out. mainly (like with TMNT) i have most/all of the games already. and i tend to prefer playing the games on their original system. that is always my first choice. but there's always exceptions: i semi-recently bought the Sonic Gems collection. i wanted to play Sonic CD, but don't have or want a Sega CD, so this seemed like the best option.
  24. Axiom Verge 2 has been beaten. this game has virtually nothing in common with its predecessor except its Metroidvania play style. It has a huge emphasis on exploration and collecting items/powerups. This one stands out because it doesn't really have any bosses except the final one. that's a new twist to me, and made it difficult to determine how far i was into the game. weird side effect to trying to make the game more accessible to the less experienced, i would imagine. anyway, i really liked it, although i would rate the first one a bit higher probably.
