First time in Hawaii, I could not believe how gorgeous and beautiful just everything was, including the people who were so kind. In a crucial procedural vote on Tuesday afternoon, the House voted 218-208 to proceed with a challenge to McCarthy from Matt Gaetz, the firebrand Republican congressman from Florida who spearheaded the rebellion after the Speaker struck a deal with Democrats to avert a government shutdown over the weekend. The procedural vote sets the stage for a final vote later on Tuesday that is likely to see McCarthy removed as Speaker. There's a subreddit called "Leopards ate my face", which is all about people supporting something that comes back to bite them in the ass. There's a couple of threads about McCarthy right now. Guys like Gaetz, Boebert, and MTG just want to keep their name in the headlines, and don't give a shit whether we have a government shutdown. BTW, a shutdown will likely affect a lot of benefits for people that need them.
