I doubt they have much choice since conscription is the law - supposedly they only have to serve for a year but then they go in the reserves where they can get called up. And I imagine the length of service can arbitrarily be extended by the authorities on a whim

I have 16 items waiting at LRG - all on their own orders except for two items on one - which curiously enough both items have been showing as being in the warehouse last couple of weeks - not sure what is going on there.

The first mass produced car (Ford Model T) - could run on either alcohol or gas - there was a switch in the body of the car to go between fuels. This may sound odd but was extremely practical - before the days of intersate highways and a service station network Model T owners could buy alcohol from farmers who used leftover materials from crops (unlike today they didn't use what could be used as food) to distill alcohol. There is a school of thought that one of the hidden drivers behind prohibition was the petroleum industry that wanted a monopoly on fuel for cars. The variant of alcohol generally being produced by farmers was not suitable for consumption by people but it was suitable for use in cars. But it was still outlawed.

I am currently in the middle of this: Ten criminals condemned to death fighting it out on an island with the sole survivor to be freed, Tired plot (or other similar variations of the classic The Most Dangerous Game) but this one handles it pretty well - it is also surprisingly good for a WWE movie - you could do worse for an action movie.

IIRC they were required to just send the covers back (lot less expensive that way) and they were supposed to throw out the books themselves. I would see them at the flea market way back when fairly often (in large lots) so the bookstore employees were nabbing them.
