  1. The Colorado law (somewhat disingenuously (IMHO) named the "Make My Day Law") rests on the assumption that anyone breaking into your (occupied) house reasonably poses a threat to the occupant(s) and is an affirmative defense, So someone breaks into my house I have a legal right to use any force (including lethal) to protect myself and others in the house and I generally can't be charged with any crime. The idea of a booby trap is usually to protect unoccupied structures/vehicles so that affirmative defense doesn't not apply.
  2. Two of my faves are: And this goes great with them - I wish they still made the cheddar and bacon flavor:
  3. That seems almost counter productive on a few levels. 1) While it may deter this thief it will not likely deter others. 2) Said thief (from above) might well return later and trash the outside of the vehicle in retaliation. 3) The owner still has to replace the window. 4) The flash bang may have left residue in the cab which now has to be cleaned up. 5) Depending on local laws it might be illegal.* 6) If a thief were to be injured he would likely be able to sue the owner. While I can well understand the desire to get even with these pieces of dog crap that do this stuff I don't think this is really the most effective thing to do - however satisfying it may be upon initial glance. *In Colorado (which has a really strong home affirmative defense law) it is illegal to booby trap your car, business, or home with anything that can seriously injure or kill someone.
  4. I feel so, well, special. I have three followers on reddit - all of whom happen to be young female playboy models who like porn and sex. They also like rich men (i won't tell them I am not rich if you don't). They must be shy as none of them has posted anything...........
  5. You might like this book: https://www.prestonchild.com/books/old-bones/Old-Bones-A-Nora-Kelly-Novel;art589,622
  6. I have that on laserdisc - pretty funny movie IIRC.
  7. I only buy a few of the collector's editions - iust depends on what is in them vs the cost. Of the ones I have gotten these two stand out for me: Thimbleweed Park - This one just screams that it is an homage to the old Infocom games with all of those fun feelies. Return of the Obra Dinn - I really liked the mimicking of the various related historical documents.
  8. And the latest Darwin award goes to: https://www.yahoo.com/news/police-teen-killed-boys-turns-152750564.html
  9. It is possible it was overloaded - but it is more likely that the cargo was improperly loaded/stowed - which is an important consideration for planes and ships.
  10. Given their track record (as it were) I doubt it was overladen with LRG backorders..............
  11. That and catalytic converter thefts have become fairly common in several parts of the country. 'Tis a really sad state of affairs.
  12. Heh - what goes around comes around - although I doubt the hoodlum in this case suffered injuries as severe as what she caused. https://news.yahoo.com/girl-13-busted-mugging-elderly-144400002.html
  13. Hmmm - DHL cargo plane snaps in two after landing at airport:
  14. The University of Colorado Boulder has this dining hall: Alferd Packer was a famous cannibal who ate 5 of the 7 Democrats in Hinsdale County (Colorado) in 1873.
  15. I don't know if it is a movie genre per se - just a theme that does crop up from time to time - and not always in horror movies. Soylent Green was a sci fi movie based on a novella by Harry Harrison called "Make Room! Make Room!" about a dystopian future of extreme overcrowding. Most ot the ones featuring this that I like are black humor type films - which I like in various genres. Alive was a movie based on the famous Andes plane crash in 1972. Supposedly the term comes from the early to mid 1800s when the South Seas were being explored and was the translation of a term used by a cannibal tribe located there. Long pig also refers to the idea that human flesh reportedly tastes like pork. And the leg and arm bones are longer than pig legs.
  16. I watched this the other day - pretty interesting.
  17. @avatar!- Depends on what type of horror it is - I really like those that are dark humor at heart. Like any other genre you have to sort through a lot of crap to find a few gems. The "It Stains the Sands Red" was somewhat disappointing after a strong start - it was a good idea that just couldn't sustain itself - plus the movie couldn't really decide what it wanted to be.
  18. Nah - it was a play on the victims in Green Inferno "Send more earth burgers...."
  19. This is another one that I was impressed with since it was a relatively modest endeavor:
  20. What is your favorite film that involves cannibalism? This little gem is actually a dark comedy despite what the trailer indicates. Rory Calhoun and his sister waylay hapless travellers, plant them in the ground and feed them special nutrients before "harvesting" them. The tagline of the move is "it takes all kind of critters to make Farmer Vincent's fritters".
