the ASI carts were also imported to Europe BTW. i have the same one, bought it around 1994 in my own country (The Netherlands) i remember buying it while we were on holiday. i currently have issues with my phone, so can't place photo's right now, but the box has a sticker on it, saying it includes a Dutch manual. paid 39,95 guilders for it back then, price sticker is still intact on the sadly flattened box

i don't care what it is, as long as it has Super Mario Odyssey 2 as a launch title please

here's another i don't see on the list yet: Cannonball Run II (1984) Jackie Chan playing a version of Pac-Man on a small tv in their super car, which starts at 1:42:51 into the movie -
the problem with the Miracle Piano, is that for Europe, we had a French version and German version, i'm quite curious to know how bad this was sold back then, because although the French version is the more rare one, both of them are usually only found as NEW, even with the original shipping box still included. so unlike the USA version, if we want a copy of the cartridge, we'd pretty much have to resort to buying the entire still brand new Piano, which at this point has risen in price to at least 1500+ euros. which is quite a difference from the 2 brand new German ones i bought like 8? years ago for 170 euro each. so yeah, although not really sought after, a loose copy is almost never offered of the PAL-B one. and because it's not really sought after, it gets easily overlooked, as most people only hype about the big titles.
-
in case it helps for the rarity guide... this is pretty much the current state of the PAL-B market. 1. Phantom Air Mission 2. Ultimate Air Combat 3. Snowboard Challenge 4. Air Fortress 5. The Miracle Piano Teaching System (loose copy) 6. R.C. Pro AM II 7. Gold Medal Challenge '92 8. Goal! 2 9. Mighty Final Fight 10. P.O.W - Prisoners of War games like Mr. Gimmick and Flintstones - The Surprise at Dinosaur Peak are NOT rare at all, just uncommon and expensive. but still offered way more than any of the ones listed above.

Sometimes You Wince, Sometimes You Lose
Friendsfa35 replied to DarkTone's topic in General Collecting Discussion
mostly these few: - young people under 30 collecting NES/SNES, and talking about said games being classics, as if they were even alive when those games were released. - people showing off their collection of NES games, and saying Ninja GAY-den instead of Ninja GUY-den, i instantly close the video in this case, as said person is clearly an amateur. - people who post "top 10 rarest NES/SNES/N64 games" videos, and then keep copy-pasting each other in constantly saying that Stadium Events for the NES was pulled from shelves back then, even though there is no evidence for that at all, as Pat explained, most of them probably were never stocked, and the ones that did sold poorly. coupled with a potentional lower print run, and you got yourself a pretty rare game. - the overblown hype of some games USA releases, which makes the hype carry over to European releases of the same games. -
i know this is precise........ but for Monster in My Pocket, with the MIMP and smaller styrofoam piece being at the top, does anyone know if the MIMP figure was on the LEFT side or the RIGHT side of the box?

if anything, it just made it worse.......

Do you have a collecting finish line?
Friendsfa35 replied to Brickman's topic in General Collecting Discussion
i do, but the prices these days and the sudden fact that all the games you could pretty easily find until like 2? years ago, or perhaps even still last year, all seem to be gone now..... makes collecting quite annoying. all my wants are harder to find now, and suddenly 3 or 4 times more expensive..... can we please go back to 2012/2013 era prices? pretty please....... -
But What If..... It WAS legit?
Friendsfa35 replied to DarkTone's topic in General Collecting Discussion
i agree, unless it was obviously fake, worst case scenario would be, you returning the games again as fakes, best case would be both are indeed legit. heck, you could have even re-sold the RC Pro AM 1, and got your money back, while keeping RC Pro Am 2, if both were legit. you'd have a free CIB game. -

not sure if i'm getting the point of the list correctly, but here's 4 missing ones i don't see on there yet. - Police Academy 7 - Mission to Moscow (1994) has of course the use of the original Game Boy - The Nanny season 2 - episode 1 Fran-Lite (1994) 2:20 min into the episode, Niles the butler references the Nintendo starting at 6:27 min into the episode, when the character of Brighton is in his room with Fran, you can see a few boxed NES games on his desk (with Dr Mario laying on top and some black box games underneath) Murder, She Wrote TV Movie - South By Southwest (1997) an original Game Boy is used in the story Space Jam - A New Legacy (2021) in the 1998 flashback at the start of the movie, an original Game Boy is used -

When is a variant its own game?

there are def. some (outdated) issues with that list though for PAL releases: - some games are listed under HOL code, but are actually FRA code, with a HOL coded back label. if you include those under "HOL" , you are missing some of the black box games there, as well as the often overlooked Athletic World with USA code on the front, which actually has a HOL coded back. i also see Stadium Events listed under "EEC" yet no mention that there are actually 2 versions: also meaning 2 different manuals. - German version with EEC front and DAS on the back - Scandinavian version with EEC front and SCN on the back the German version with DAS back has a blue manual SCN version has a yellow manual. only the box is the same, which always has the EEC code on the side flaps.

as a European, i am still missing 2 of the Australian exclusive games for the NES. - Aussie Rules Footy - International Cricket the ones on Ebay are either all damaged or the people won't ship overseas. same problem with online gamestores, they only offer shipping within Australia. looking for loose carts in as mint a quality as possible. preferably both from the same seller, who is willing to ship to The Netherlands. payment through paypal.

any PAL NES game that says CLASSIC SERIE or CLASSIC SERIES is always a GERMAN re-release, so your best bet would be the German version of Ebay Fester's Quest is usually the DUTCH/FRANCE release but finding a good quality box of this one is really tough.... not to mention finding the tips and tricks foldout poster that came with this game, in good condition.

What's your cut off line for cartridge conditions
Friendsfa35 replied to obnoxious's topic in Collector's Questions
overal terms, it's needs to be as new as possible..... no label damage, no knicks, no discoloration, no label peeling, no scratches on the cart, no bend/curved/warped carts, everything has to be original, no swapped backs, unless it's one from the same game with same number printed into the back label. i CAN however make an exception if needed, the PAL version of The Miracle Piano cart for example, the piano itself did not sell that great, so finding a loose cartridge is much harder than simply buying a still brand new complete piano (even still in the shipping box) however, that also means said cartridge has been in that box for 31 years now, meaning the warmth inside may have caused the label to peel slightly on the top, both of my carts had this, and both were from brand new unopened before Miracle Piano's. there's also some other carts that seem to have labels more prown to damage, such as Disney's Beauty & The Beast (La Belle et La Béte / Belle en het Beest) -
What are the rarest games for nes.
Friendsfa35 replied to ThadMyster's topic in Collector's Questions
you might want to make an adjustment to nr. 7 loose Spanish (ESP coded) copies of Ultimate Air Combat , Phantom Air Mission & Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat , are WAAAAYYYYYY harder to get.
