  1. Pretty good. Even better. Like the videogamey intro. Decent, but not doing it for me. No thanks. I have never been into this more standard metal style.
  2. I have been seriously tempted to buy it since Metroid Prime is one of my all-time favorite games (top ten for sure), but I'm playing The Witcher 3 and Final Fantasy X and need to focus my energies. Must be disciplined!
  3. Looks like I'm going to be getting a guided metal tour from Reed "I Need Another Ranking Project" Rothchild. I'll be sure to let you know which songs are actually good.
  4. This is the kind of mystery that needs a bump. It's close in concept to Time Pilot, but the art is different. It's gotta be a shooter, right? Anyone?
  5. Obviously we don't know the numbers, but I wouldn't sweat about getting a copy. I think we will see more coming in the future and eventually a trilogy release. Plus, I guarantee a full 50% of these will be bought by speculators and readily available on the secondhand market down the road.
  6. Man, the first one is tough! Love early Chili Peppers, but "In The Air Tonight" is a stone cold classic. Nirvana is overrated and overplayed. Coldplay sucks. Daft Punk is decent, but Pixies are rock royalty.
  7. I have a small TG-16 collection and would love to get more, but it's further down the list for now since I never played it as a kid and there's not a great way to experience it in HD right now. Once (if?) the Analogue Duo comes out, I'll probably prioritize that collection and will definitely be reading and talking about it. There is also an adapter coming for the Pocket, so that might spur my interest as well since the dock works pretty well.
  8. I was really just talking about modern consoles (basically PS3, 360, Wii U onward). Retro consoles have a pretty defined and objective list of what was released during their lifetime. There are a few outliers, as you mentioned, but there is general agreement for 99% of the stuff. These newer consoles have way too many variations, limited runs, promotional items, etc to make full sets even worth considering, in my opinion. Everyone is free to do as they like, but I consider it a poor use of my time to chase after the newer stuff and go through the mental gymnastics required to define a full set for these consoles. The fact that most of the shit won't even be playable in ten years since the discs/cartridges don't even contain the actual game software is just icing on the cake.
  9. This is why "full set" collecting for modern consoles is meaningless. Not worth the time or effort, in my opinion.
  10. I find games like this impossible to rate. Along with something like Pong, it's incredibly iconic and influential, but I have no desire to play it. 10 for historic relevance, 3 for actual gameplay.
  11. That's awesome. I've also been working on a Master System set. It's been really fun to trial all the games that I never played as a kid since I never knew anyone with a Master System.
  12. Wow, I'm surprised this didn't get more traction. This is an amazing find.
  13. I generally only collect retro stuff, but I branched out to PSVR just for the novelty and was blown away at how easy it was. Now that videogame collecting is a mainstream hobby, even the limited releases are readily available for prices near (or even below) retail. Add in the fact that many modern "collectors" are actually speculators buying multiple copies and it seems likely newer releases will be available in perfect condition in perpetuity. The likely future availability of new games and the rise of FOMO services like LRG kind of pushed me away from going after modern sets. You have to be at least a little crazy and extremely dedicated to go after the retro stuff which is kind of what makes it fun.
  14. I grew up in Michigan, so I definitely know what real cold is, but that doesn't change my opinion. I consider socks a necessary evil and avoid them as much as humanly possible. My feet long for freedom!
  15. The collection is looking pretty damn complete! Nice pics!
  16. Welcome! What's your favorite console to collect for? If the answer is NES, then what's your second favorite?
  17. Nier: Replicant is kind of like that too. The second playthrough is quite a bit different than the first, so I quickly ran through that, then just looked up the other three endings. I have no desire to replay a game five times in this day and age. Thank God for YouTube.
  18. I have quite a bit more I'd like to pickup, but if I had to stop right now for any reason, I'd be content. I spent a few years collecting at a breakneck pace and don't have much desire to ever go back to that.
  19. I don't know if it's a sequel or prequel, but I do know that my hype has faded pretty hard on this one. All the poor performing, low-resolution Switch games that keep dropping have really made me want to wait for a Switch 2. BotW may be one of my favorite games, but it's not like it was particularly impressive from a technical standpoint. If the scope of this game is even bigger, I can't imagine it will fair particularly well on aging (aged?) hardware.
  20. I wouldn't worry about what other people think. If you feel you've completed a game, log it as such. The backlog thread is about as far from an actual competition as there is. It's just a fun way to track your own games.
  21. Yeah, it's been a crazy year for me. New baby (#3), new job, and a huge backyard renovation project. I love collecting and I still want to upgrade a lot of my NES stuff, but it's gonna be a while. Hopefully we keep seeing prices drop and can snag some more stuff down the road.
  22. Welcome! Sounds like you have some awesome experience with more obscure stuff which is always welcome.
  23. I pretty much agree with what everyone else is saying: If you're starting from scratch, skip the full sets. Hunting them down is often more frustration than fun and they just end up filling space. If I lost or sold everything now, I'd get out of collecting completely and just buy what I plan to play.
  24. It tore my heart out to vote against Africa, but Tonight, Tonight is one of my all-time favorite songs from a band in their absolute prime.
  25. The nice thing about the method that I linked is you can choose which screen (or screens) goes onto the television. You can distribute the screens in any combination, so you can just put the top display onto the television and keep the bottom display as normal with the stylus and touch screen in your hand. Unfortunately, as someone who has never done any electronics work, installing the mod looks quite difficult.
