    I think because the thread went so long without a troll, we got into the habit of thinking people were coming from a genuine place of wanting to have an intelligent discussion based on facts and reason. I first found the post to which you replied to be disgusting and was going to just leave it alone. Then I thought I wanted to say something. Then I scrolled down and saw you already had So thanks for articulating that response and saving me the time and emotional energy.

    This question probably reveals my accounting ignorance, but isn't a deduction still taxed to some extent? In other words, you are worse off by having that amount on there than not, the same way that postage is an expense instead of a subtraction from taxable income?

    Every now and then, I got some unusually high fees this year as well. I never looked into it, but I am with you on having had some odd transactions. And for people saying that the tax is not part of the total that gets charged a fee, you may be correct (I don't know), but it the taxes are part of the total that is on your tax form at the end of the year.

    It would be awesome to feel less privileged due to an increase in social equality. And as far as things I can more directly control, I would like to have a better handle on managing or eliminating the stressors that inflame my anxiety.
