  1. Dude, you got one of those numbered to 10? Edit : I see you updated your post with confirmation of 01/10! Crazy pull man, congrats! And put that in a hard cover right away, lol!
  2. I think I can speak for the majority saying that we are deeply in need of a puking reaction.
  3. I have the feeling you're not far away of getting your first win, I'm cheering for you to do it before the end of the season!
  4. This week's contest all come down to one existential question : who's the real Karate Champ of VGS? After one full week of mental sufferings, a master Judan have risen before our incredulous eyes : @0xDEAFC0DE!!! Our winner is already known for his incredible talents at breaking puzzle games, but could he also be a Beat Em Up master? This could be the case, but what is also plausible is that Karate Champ is tricking us with its fighting parade, and at its core is simply a Puzzle playing the tough and rough. 0xDEAFC0DE's winning strategy seems to point in that direction, as @mbd39 wisely observed. Congratulations for the win 0xDEAFC0DE, and also congrats for helping @Gloves polishing the site by troubleshooting the embedding Twitch video problem. That counts for two wins in my book. Competition was tensed for the top ranks this week, as VGS 2019 NES Champion @bertsampson grabbed the Kyudan title with an impressive score of 110,100, followed closely by rising star @NESfiend with 108,800 who earned him the Hachidan title. NESfiend had a real good shot at besting the Human Cyborg this week. He revealed his thoughts in a post-contest interview, claiming that he 'was just a couple vases away'. Out of the 100k club but still in the heat of the battle, we have three fighters that gave performances worthy of their black belt. 2019 contest icons collectors @8bitdontquit got his Nanadan with a score of 89,300, while @Gaia Gensouki karateka's skills earned him the Rokudan title. Michael (mbd39) finishes this board of honor with a score of 59,400, good for a Godan belt. All the rest of you only gets a white belt! Thanks to everyone playing and posting in the contest thread, and keep an eye for next week contest as we're playing the highly appraised shooter, crazy fun, best of the NES game The Guardian Legend!
  5. I know the feeling man, every time the site is down, I have this irrational fear that Doug is selling it to GoCollect. I can't help it, so I go get a hair cut to change my mind.
  6. Having 'a little fun' is forbidden this week, re-read the rules. Everyone must have a blast playing that game.
  7. If you like the TGL mode, go for the full ride with the exploration parts off contest, that game is a ton of fun! And for those that want to resume the fun after beating the original, there's a hack named The Guardian Legend Secret Edition that is absolutely awesome, it's like the equivalent of having a Legend of Zelda second quest but for Guardian Legend (made by @Optomon, I can't thank you enough for making that hack). The increase in difficulty is spot on from beating the original and then starting a new game of the hack. The hardest version of the bosses in the hack are really fun challenges, and I'm not spoiling the final battle cause Optomon had a genius idea for it. Plus, there's a way to play it shooter only!
  8. Sorry guys, it can't be fixed, you'll all have to get your scores by tonight.

Good call, plus the original aspect ratio of Gone With the Wind is 1.37 : 1, so you sure you don't get those silly 'full screen' or 'pan and scan' VHS versions. By the way, I don't know if I'm missing something but Mega Tank posted that, not Raftronaut? @Mega Tank, what is the length of the movie? I'm curious to know which montage of the film it is.
  10. Ladies and Gentlemen of the Disney Fan Club, It is now the time for a sweet prize giveaway hand crafted by our home artsy lady @MeganJoanne! Can you guys tell what Megan cross-stitched for us this week? That's it, you guessed it right, Mickey Mouse! Wait a minute here... maybe my memory is fooling me, but there's seem to be something odd with that Mickey cross-stitch. Whatever, here is the list of the members eligible to win the Disney themed cross-stitch of the week : 1 = @bertsampson 2 = @Jeevan 3 = @ZeldaFreak 4= @mbd39 5= @Ausden 6 = @DefaultGen 7 = @Jicsan 8 = @JamesRobot Oh my god, Disney Fan Club Member #3 won the cross-stitch, congratulations to... ZeldaFreak? Talk about an odd name for a Disney Fan... hold it on here, this is not the Disney Fan Club, not at all. We're on that super cool Video Game Sage website! And this cross-stitch is not of that Mickey Mouse jerk! This is Mappy, the hero of the game MAPPY! I'm so happy, talk about a fine ending! Hope you'll like your cross-stitch ZeldaFreak, feel free to pm Megan and discuss the shipping info! Cheers to all of you VGS rockers!
  11. For the second time this year, we had a Famicom exclusive week, or as some purist US collectors prefer referring to it, emulation week. This time around, it was about that goode olde Mappy game. Famicom exclusive or not, this game is in the very classic arcade vein, so it was expected that @bertsampson, VGS geral scoreboard leader and arcade specialist, would be hard to beat. The door was open for an upset though, as the Human Cyborg had to celebrate his son 2nd anniversary, but even with his father extra burdens and an escapist plan to do errands at the Costco store, Bert still managed to break the million mark and take the win, which he wholeheartedly dedicated to his youngest son in a very poignant speech during the trophy ceremony. The battle for the silver and bronze medals were much more tense this week, as newcomer @ZeldaFreak was determined to make a good first impression to the contest crowd, in conjunction with checking off the 'Particip ant' Bingo case, though with much less interest in the latter than the former we must admit. The contest rookie took hold of the first place spot for a good portion of the week with his score of 266,400, but only to see his good pal @Jeevan get the best out of him with a score of 377,970, and then the merry duo both got bested by @VegaVegas's solid performance of 425,920. But let's not feel too bad for Zeldafreak and Jeevan, as they both got a blackout at the VGS Bingo event for consolation. To finish this off, let me take the time to 'tip my hat' to the 100k score club for their honorable effort this week, @0xDEAFC0DE (156,950), @NESfiend (131,260), @Gaia Gensouki (101,760) and @mbd39 (101,520). Thanks to everyone for playing and posting in the contest thread, and let's all put a big smile on our faces in preparation for next week's game, KaRaTe ChAmP!!!!
  12. Holy Crow man! Screw the special Charm, give this guy a medal of honor or something!
  13. I think it is played in a 'club' on the site :
  14. Your wish has been granted son, now you can go on with your journey, and open that damn chest!
  15. I can't believe I watched the whole video only to learn that the chest couldn't be opened. I want my 87 seconds back sir!
  16. Holst's The Planets suite is one of my favorite classical music work as well! One of the thing that fascinated me when I first heard it is the amount of references I got from other media. For example, Jupiter seems to me like the main influence of many of the Shining Force II musical themes. Also, I used to play Tyrants (Genesis) when i was young, so it was quite funny to hear Mars Bringer of War for the first time, realizing the main music of the game is pretty much a simplistic mock up of it (it starts at 0:27) :
  17. You're right, it doesn't leave room for anything else than 30 foots the way it is now. We'll have to accept picture taken immediately after the Dino Vault, where we can see 'heights' on screen. I'll amend the rules for that.
  18. I see you posted new better scores and that's great, but just to make it 100 % clear to everybody, any score posted in the VGS NES Weekly Contest must be score made during the specific week that a contest is held. Any score made before the thread of the week is posted is not a valid score for the contest. The rule is officially explained in the Leaderboard and Rules thread, under the 'Posting a score' section. Keep on playing guys!
  19. For the first time ever in the NES Weekly Contest History, this week featured Kiwi Kraze as the game to beat! The game was a new addition to the contest, but not to all players. For a second consecutive week, the battle at the summit took place between our new skilled challenger @Sumez and veteran leader @bertsampson. It looks like the Human Cyborg got a new dance partner as the fight for the win was rather fierce between them, just like it was during the Tetris week. This time, Bert got the best of the battle with a score of 1,428,600, which account for a little over 100k more than his rival (1,327,000). Is this the beginning of an exciting rivalry between these two gladiators? Time will tell, but we can all agree that having a tense fight for the win always makes for a great show! Though a little distant in term of points, another player did great this week by reaching the ending screen of Kiwi Kraze. This guy is @0xDEAFC0DE, aka The Puzzler, who managed to own 'this little cute bitch' of a game with a score of 629,000. @NESfiend was due to have a good run anytime soon, and it happened this very week as he landed a 4th place with a solid score of 445,000! Then, '2019 Contest Icons Hoarder' @8bitdontquit showed his head in the last few hours of the contest to claim 5th spot with a score of 355,100 and politely kick out @Jeevan of the ranking board with his 231,00 score. This said, the latter is still in the respectable 200k club, along with Videomation's Grand Prize Winner @JamesRobot (291,600), Star Shaped Buddy @ninjistar (256,700), VGS Graphics Master @CasualCart and, last but not least, Caveman Thag @CMR with 201,500. To finish this off, let's note that despite being overwhelmed with all the chores, responsibilities and headache inducing problems that comes with moving into a new house, 2019 Shooter champion @docile tapeworm (aka skinnygrinny, aka The Grinder, aka 42 foot tapeworm, aka the styrofoam cup piece maestro), still managed to post a daring score of 17,500, which is only a million and a few hundred thousands points shy of first place! #HomeOwnerRepresent As usual, thanks to everyone participating and see you all Prehistoric Olympians for the Caveman Games contest!
  20. You got this right, no problem with a warp forward!
  21. Ladies and Gentlemen, deliberation has been made and it is now my pleasure to announce the results for the VGS 2020 Videomation Contest. Grand Prize, awarded to the overall best appreciated art by the jury goes to : @JamesRobot for The Scream Flashing To symbolize his win, JamesRobot will be awarded a unique Charm specially created by @CasualCart which represents a miniature depiction of his drawing (in the red palette) : 64x64 version : 32x32 version : Best Original Art category winner is : @SuperJimtendo for Videomation Landscape : As the winner for the best original creation, SuperJimtendo will also be awarded a unique Charm : 64x64 version : 32x32 version : Best Graphic, exclusively picked by the VGS Graphics Team goes to : @0xDEAFC0DE for Penrose Triangle With this awesome depiction of an 'impossible triangle', 0xDEAFC0DE is rewarded with a matching unique Charm : 64x64 version : 32x32 version : These are our 3 winners for the Videomation contest, congratulations to the three of you! As the competition was such a success, the jury also decided to gives a Honorable Mention to particularly deserving submission. Each judge had the opportunity to pick a submission of his choice : @BortLicensePlate's pick, for Best Unfinished Art : @nesmaster14 with Videomation is Fleeting @CasualCart's pick, for Best Software Use : @bertsampson with Tetris @BeaIank's pick, for Best Depiction of a Video Game Character : @ninjistar with Pac-Man Ban @guillavoie's pick, for Most Shocking : @docile tapeworm (skinnygrinny) with Kickle's Tapeworm Huge thanks to everyone that participated and/or was involved in this Special NES Weekly Contest, this went marvelously well and definitely give everyone an incentive to organize more 'out of the box 'competition of the like on VGS. I will personally thank BortLicencePlate and CasualCart for helping us in making this contest a success, and to BeaIank for all the great work she does for the VGS NES Weekly contest.
  22. One of the most classic action puzzle game was in the center of attention this week as players tackled NES Tetris! Host @BeaIank showed that she had a soft side as she decided to have players start at level 15, which made it easier for the non-expert players to reach the participation requirement, thus making @Gloves fulfill his 'secret wish' to celebrate his birthday by playing Tetris! Also in the celebration department, we have anonymous sources saying that skinnygrinny (aka @docile tapeworm) was planning to host a home Tetris contest for his upcoming Housewarming Party, and we are all invited! Now for the serious business, newcomer @Sumez made a great first impression by winning it all this week with an impressive score of 577,235! Congratulations for this win, it is always a pleasure to have new blood coming in the competition and having success! Sumez win is solid as rock, but it wasn't a walk in the park either, as home general scoreboard leader @bertsampson had a great early Monday start with a score of 570,840. Not only he proved last week that he can draw flawless Tetris picture in Videomation, now he proved that he can actually play Tetris like a beast! Coming next is VGS known Tetris-lover @mbd39 who almost cracked the 500k bar with a score of 499,079. Michael was definitely considered a strong contender to grab one of the highest spot this week, and he delivered the goods. Well done sir! This week also saw the entrance of VGS Graphics Team staffer @BortLicensePlate into the competition, and he demonstrated that he has shiny Tetris skills by submitting a solid score of 446,569, which is a personal best of his! Way to go man, hope to see you around again! Also sitting in the higher mountains of the general scoreboard, @Bearcat-Doug decided once again to postpone his long awaited mid-season break by breaking the Tetris 400k bar with an excellent score of 407,470! Nicely done Doug! Contest veteran @arnpoly also dropped in to say 'hi' and by the occasion posting a nice score of 301,063. Then comes the 200k score club, with @Splain leading with his 250,603 score, @Tablew/chairs with 212,959 and current VGS NES Puzzle leader @0xDEAFC0DE, despite having to take the infamous 9th place, still showed determination in being a strong contender for the 2020 Puzzle icon with a score of 210,240. Let's also note that this week we had 6 new players competing in the VGS NES Contest as @ChickenTendas, @fsped09, @CMR and @Makar joined the fun. Always a pleasure to see new members jumping in the competition, we hope to see you getting back at it anytime soon. To finish, we'd like to give special thanks to old timer contest player and Tetris enthusiast @arch_8ngel for coming in and sharing great knowledge of the game and its newest developments in world competition. As usual, thanks to everyone making the contest a joy machine and see you all in the Kiwi Kraze competition. Also, stay tuned for the upcoming results of the Videomation contest as the deliberation process, which ironically enough took longer than the contest itself, is almost over!
  23. She apparently got 'femceled'.
