  1. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IT IS TIME! IT IS TIME FOR TETRIS!!! This year, we will follow the rules for Classic Tetris World Championship since the skill of our players is so high! With no further ado, here's the RULES: Play on type A Start at level 18 - Hold A while picking level 8 to pick level 18 Highest score wins In case two or more players reach 999,999 points, the one that reached it on the lowest level will win Participation: 11,400 (half the score value of a Tetris on level 18) Genre: Puzzle The contest ends Sunday, 10/09/22 at 11 PM VGS time. Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid. The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid. No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted. No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed. You must take a picture of your computer monitor. There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers. Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator. Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests. The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed. Good luck everyone and have fun. This one's for your memory, Jonas Neubauer. May you be teaching the new generation of wicked Tetris players in Valhalla. “Boom Tetris For Jeff”, Tang, Chris, 2016.
  2. New UPDATE: I have been able to confirm a total of 43 Tetris Variants, however I have identified 44 variants AND I a theory of 4 additional variants. Sometime ago I saw on NA a list of all Game Boy Tetris Variants. I have not been able to find it here so I'm remaking here. have no clue, who the OG Author was. If any one remembers let me know so I can give the credit to them. 3. I could've sworn I already made this thread a while back but nope. This thread is for all things Tetris 99. Post your wins, stats, badges, personal records, if you want to face someone in a match, talk strategy, future Tetris 99 Maximus tournament announcements, etc. I will start by giving some strategy. Not general Tetris strategy, but moreso Tetris 99 specific strategy. I have found that if you target KOs or Attackers, you usually end up with the best chance to win. This is because your target usually stays the same, you can target multiple people at once, or you can get someone out quickly who is on the verge of being eliminated. You want to wrack up KOs to get your badges quickly so that you can deal out more garbage damage. Always hold an i piece. This comes in very handy when you need a Tetris, either an offensive or defensive one. You can also build up very high at the beginning, bait people into targeting you, switch to attackers, then get off some quick tetrises to dish out a ton of garbage lines. Usually you'll get 1-3 KOs from doing this. And now that the strategy is out there, I'm proud to say I have cracked the 100 win mark! How are you guys fairing? I'd love to see stats and badges and whatnot!
  4. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IT IS TIME! IT IS TIME FOR TETRIS!!! This year, we will do things a bit different and we will follow the rules for Classic Tetris World Championship since the skill of our players is so high! With no further ado, here's the RULES: Play on type A Start at level 15 (I am being VERY kind to you all) - Hold A while picking level 5 to pick level 15 Highest score wins In case two or more players reach 999,999 points, the one that reached it on the lowest level will win Participation: 9,000 (half the score value of a tetris on level 15) Genre: Puzzle The contest ends Sunday, 08/02/20 at 11 PM VGS time. Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid. The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid. No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted. 5. I decided to download the free demo for PuyoPuyo Tetris to give it a shot, and it's a good game, however, it has one MAJOR flaw, and it's with the Tetris part of the game. In every other Tetris I can recall playing. The next pieces always come from the bottom up, and go from left to right, similar to how you read. Left to right, then top to bottom for which piece comes next. Now in PuyoPuyo Tetris, it's the complete opposite. Your next piece is on the bottom right. Why? I have no clue because that's the farthest from your peripheral vision as possible and completely backwards from every other Tetris. It's really really throwing me off. So my question is, since this is the demo, is there a way in the full game to change this back to normal? Left to right, top to bottom. Also, is there a way to get rid of your opponents' screens so that you can see more than 3 pieces? Can your next pieces show up on the left side instead of the top? I'd love to know because I'm considering buying this game but only if you can customize how the next pieces appear.
  6. Edit 12/18/2019: Holy crap I actually placed in the top 999 for the Tetris 99 Maximus 10 cup!!!! Just saw the 999 points in my Nintendo rewards account today!!! The points showed up in my account 1 day after the tournament. Any of you place?? The 10th Tetris 99 Maximus cup ended 12/17/2019 at 2am EST. It was team battles this time instead of the usual single player mode. Points were awarded as followed for 1st-4th place: 50, 25, 5, 1. The top 999 players in this tournament will get 999 gold coins for the eShop. How'd you all do? I finished with 2,836 points. Really hoping that was enough but I was reading at least 6 people on Reddit had gotten over 3000, so I'm not super confident I got it. I was NOT a fan of how they awarded points. They should've given bonus point for the people who survived into the top 25 spots to deter people from just farming points and not actually playing a full match. If you got out in 10 seconds and your team won, you still got 50pts, but those people who carried the team also only got 50pts. I read so many instances where people didn't even play. They'd just let the game go while watching TV and farming their points.
