  1. At 1:11, from Rare Ltd. twitter account, 'Sorry, it isn't releasing on the Wii'. Imagine how they don't intend to release this on the Switch to say that.
  2. I think you'll need to be more specific here as the way you wrote this it almost sounds like you took some pills written 'Chinese medicine' on them and it somehow improved your health or something.
  3. This looks fantastic and fun! I totally dig the pencil v. eraser theme! Great work!
  4. Indeed, usually if we meant it to be the minimum starting level it would be clearly expressed so in the rules. So I'd say, yes, it must be the only level to start on, but I'll leave the suspense of the final answer to Bea, since these rules are the product of her personal draconian plan for this week.
  5. By all means, anyone that still has something to show, feel free to go for it right here! I'm sure it will be appreciated even if the official contest is over!
  6. Big thanks to everyone participating this week, this was extremely funny and went awesomely well, way over Bea and I expectations! You guys rock, thanks for making this so enjoyable! Now, @CasualCart, @BortLicensePlate, @BeaIank and myself will enclose ourselves in our Caesar's Palace Royal Suite for deliberation, and we'll get back to you with the results.
  7. Like I said, it was announced as such all along, and we had reasons to do so. This was a totally new idea for the NES Weekly contest, so we handled it as an experiment. First, while ranking drawings could have been possible with a set of principles based on a judging process, we didn't feel to go for it as it would have been drastically different to how we usually deal with video game contest. Giving a flat number of points for participation would have come with problems too, as @Richardhead pointed out. We didn't want to prompt a bunch of low effort submissions just to get the points. We wanted it to be a 'special' contest, but we couldn't predetermined the overall response. Now, given how well this turned out, we're open to think of a special way to award the best submission(s), something different than some generic contest points so to say.
  8. Without diminishing the talent and work of those that posted great drawings, we announced it as a special contest with no point toward leaderboard during a break week, so we'll have to stick to that by principle. This said, I'm still entertaining the idea to give some kind of 'extra' reward tied to this contest, so we'll see.
  9. I agree, and I'll even dare to say that there's something about the flashing palette that express, in an unexpected way, the psychological affect of the original painting. You really pushed the limits of the game with that one man, that's crazy good!
  10. That didn't turn out too well indeed. Interesting, the last post in that thread was from a guy named Kickle that got banned : http://archive.nes.science/nintendoage-forums/nintendoage.com/forum/messageview8d3d.html?StartRow=26&catid=31&threadid=34921
  11. Have you practiced 'less empty spots at Game Over'? If not, you should now!
  12. Always loved that avatar, it is like bringing a great Simpson joke to life. Also, *Ralph's voice* 'Hi Super Nintendo Chalmers!'
  13. Just to make this clear, along with Bea and I, the other judges for the contest will be @BortLicensePlate and @CasualCart, so you can start licking their asses in order to obtain preferential treatment. I would also say that shooting for different approaches, styles and effects could be a good strategy as we might entertain the idea to create categories of award and have a list of winners. Just sayin!
  14. It sure makes an incentive to repeat the experiment with this one in the future! Nice set of numbers here Bert, lol!
  15. This week NES Weekly Contest players had the pleasure to indulge in one of the most appraised game ever featured in the competition : Target Renegade! All the pressure was on @mbd39's shoulders as he had a recorded score of 37,160 in the 2017 contest, which placed him as a serious contender as 'mutant high rollers' @BeaIank and @Red were most probably out of the competition, though you can absolutely never be sure with Red's assassin type of posting crazy last minute scores without notice. Good news folks, It seems that everything played out right for Mike as he even achieved to beat his previous self with a winning score of 37,350! Congrats for the well deserved win Michael, now your wrists can take a beneficial rest and your brain won't have to worry about picking hearts for, at the very least, a couple years! Following closely in the 36k range, @bertsampson upset his BFF @Bearcat-Doug with a Sunday update of 36,840, while Doug was taking it 'Miller Lite' easy on his 36,100 score, which BTW is still a great score! Next in line, it seems that @Richardhead suddenly found special charm in this NES hidden gem as he worked up an impressive score of 34,920, which marks a huge jump from his 2017 effort! Out of the 30k+ club, but still deserving honorable mention, we have a valuable set of four players who achieved to net a high 26k+ score, which is nothing to be shy about. We have, in order of rank, @ninjistar 'I'm still waiting on you to setup the Contest Archives' with 28,085, @NESfiend 'Dad of the year' with 27,835. @Jeevan 'I like boys' with 27,310 and @8bitdontquit 'I don't talk much but I'm not quit yet' with 26,325. And now let me get something straight : ALL THE OTHER SCORES POSTED SUCK! Thanks to everyone playing and posting in the contest, and make sure to take a look at the special break week we have with a Videomation contest, featuring a high tech software program to make NES drawings. So take it easy off, but make sure to express your artistic self and post some Videomation arts!
  16. @JamesRobot This one goes straight in history as best high-score board ever!
  17. I read somewhere that she's really serious about social distancing.
  18. How odd, the glitch makes him now looks like Jimmy Lee's doppelganger.
  19. This looks very nice nice work! I'll try to give it go for testing. Once completed, this game will make a great pick for the VGS Homebrew contest!
  20. Yeah, we usually decide the number of tournament spots according to the overall participation during the season, so the more players play, the more players are worthy of a tournament spots and then we can improvise along with the format of the tournament.
  21. This week in the NES Weekly contest we took a look back into childhood iconic toys of the 1990's with the Micro Machines, on the Nintendo Entertainment System!!!! 1st place(s) competition rank was open to hardcore fans of Micro Machines who could complete the Challenge mode, and three valiant souls were up to the challenge. @bertsampson, @Bearcat-Doug and @Tablew/chairs went all way through the champion cup, and thus are tied for the golden spot this week. This makes two consecutive 1st places for Table, which marks the return of this highly skilled player to the heat of the competition. One thing sounds sure, is that the Chair is looking right to earning a tournament spot for the rest of the season, lookout for him! Following closely behind, we have @NESfiend who make it up to race 22, 'The Leafy Bends', just a few races shy of reaching the final race. Then, @Jeevan work it up from a race 3 participation score to a highly respectable run to race 19, aka the 'Wide Awake War-Zone'. Coming next, three other usual rankers filled the rest of the panel, @0xDEAFC0DE to race 15 'Pencil Plateaux', @Gaia Gensouki to race 13 'Bedroom Battlefield' and @ninjistar to race 11 'Fruit Juice Follies'. Man, gotta love those fancy race names! Thanks to everyone participating in the contest thread and let's resume the fun with notorious NES Weekly Contest 'Poor man's Double Dragon', yes you guessed it right, Target Renegade.
  22. Tanks can be very annoying races, but my personal trick is to work a maximum of diagonals trajectory on the race. It seems the CPU follow more strictly the layout of the races, but there's a lot of diagonals opportunities that can makes you cut to the chase while the CPU don't do it.
