  1. Hello and welcome to the third round of the Nintendo 64 Weekly Contest! This week's game is Tetrisphere. For general contest rules, click here: https://www.videogamesages.com/forums/topic/9667-nintendo-64-weekly-contest-leaderboard-rules-20212022/ Good luck and have fun! SCOREBOARD: 1. 1,164,400 (Gloves) 2. 496,800 (RH) 3. 465,900 (ZeldaFan042) 4. 463,100 (Jeevan) 5. 177,200 (Splain) 6. 155,600 (Krunch)
  2. Can you see that map after mission 6 though? If one doesn't expect that they will be able to take their picture at the name entry screen, then they should take their picture at the map screen after mission 5 and two more pictures after beating mission 6 and Venom. If anyone is playing on the revised cart, taking your picture on the invoice screen is okay. @Gloves @Krunch@Splain @Jeevan @NESfiend Less than 12 hours to go. Don't forget to post your scores!
  3. Ah, I didn't think of that. For low scores, it doesn't really matter, but with higher scores, people playing on the original version of the cart could have a higher score shown on that screen than someone who played just as well on the revised cart.
  4. When I was putting together a list of games for this competition, there were so many racing games on it that I briefly considered making it the Nintendo 64 Racing Game Weekly Contest. Ultimately, I decided variety would be better, but a genre specific competition might be fun to do some time in the future.
  5. Next time, please be sure to take your picture on the name entry screen.
  6. From what I've read, the original version has a bug in it that causes the game to subtract 256 from your final score if you get over 511 points in a single stage. The revised version "fixed" this by preventing you from scoring more than 511 points in any single stage.
  7. That's it for week 1! Congratulations to @PII for taking first place. The week two thread can be found here:
  8. Hello and welcome to the second round of the Nintendo 64 Weekly Contest! This week's game is Star Fox 64. Rules: - Start a new game (do not play on expert). - Play until you lose all your lives or you beat the game. - You may take any path you'd like. - If you do not beat the game, take your picture on the map screen after you lose all your lives. - If you beat the game, take your picture on the name entry screen. - If you get more than 511 hits on any stage, subtract the difference between your hits on that stage and 511 from your total hits. The later revision of this game only allows for a maximum of 511 hits per stage, so to keep things fair, 511 hits will be the maximum number of hits per stage for all participants. - Highest score (number of hits) wins. - You have until 11:00 PM EST on Sunday, December 26, 2021 to submit your score. For general contest rules, click here: https://www.videogamesage.com/forums/topic/9667-nintendo-64-weekly-contest-leaderboard-rules-20212022/ Good luck and have fun! SCOREBOARD: 1. 755 (RH) 2. 742 (ZeldaFan042) 3. 572 (Krunch) 4. 540 (PII) 5. 468 (Jeevan) 6. 345 (Splain)
  9. Sorry, but due to the speed differences, only NTSC is allowed for this competition.
  10. Yes, that is okay. That's right. You do not have to do them all in a row. I'll clarify this in the rules. Yes, you can play any character you want and change the character for different courses. I'll clarify this in the rules as well.
  11. Hello and welcome to the first round of the Nintendo 64 Weekly Contest! In celebration of it's 25th anniversary on the 14th, this week's game is Mario Kart 64. Rules: - Play Luigi Raceway, Frappe Snowland, Sherbet Land, and Bowser's Castle on Time Trials. - You may play the courses in any order and as many times as you want. You do not need to replay all the courses if you only want to improve your time on one of them. - You may choose any character you want for any of the courses. - Take a picture at the results screen for each track. - Lowest combined total time wins. - You may not use shortcuts, glitches, or exploits. This includes, but is not limited to, jumping over walls or fences, lap skipping, or using lakitu for time saving purposes. If you're unsure about something, please ask. - You have until 11:00 PM EST on Sunday, December 19, 2021 to submit your score. 13. The Monster Hunter games come to mind. I played a lot of Monster Hunter Tri, then a lot of Monster Hunter G. I then got 3 Ultimate on Wii U, but couldn't bring myself to play very long. Being an updated version of Tri, it was much too similar and I couldn't bring myself to start playing again from scratch. I didn't get into another Monster Hunter game until Generations Ultimate. While I could see myself booting up my old save files of Tri and G just to go on a hunt or two, I don't think I'll ever restart them from the beginning. Animal Crossing is another one for me. Played a bunch on the Gamecube, haven't touched the series since.
  14. I don't mind and, if I'm in the right mood, enjoy mapping things out in video games. But there's barely anything else to Double Dungeons. If I'm going to play a dungeon crawling RPG, I'd rather play one with a bit more substance to it, which is pretty much every other dungeon crawler RPG that I know of. As for Moto Roader, if one doesn't have to beat every set of tracks for it to be considered complete, it might not be too much of a pain to get through. After having trouble with the first set, I dreaded having to play through more than one. I'm assuming the trick is figuring out the right order to purchase new parts, but the game is such a chore to play, I didn't want to take the time to figure it out.
  15. Good luck with Double Dungeons and Moto Roader. I tried them both in August and I think they're some of the worst games on the system. Double Dungeons is easily the worst dungeon crawler RPG I've ever played. I tend to be able to find some enjoyment in old, primitive RPGs, but this one couldn't be more boring.
  16. My other TurboGrafx-16 games are still packed away at the moment. I'll likely contribute more when I get around to digging them out.
  17. Here's my spooky video game character. This is The Seal Breaker. It uses dark magic to break the seals of factory sealed games. It doesn't even play them. It just leaves them in places where they will be susceptible to damage, like a damp basement or by a window that gets a lot of sunlight. When you encounter it in-game, it attacks you with shards of plastic made from the games it has opened. I was going to animate the arms and have it open the pile of Switch games, but I ran out of time.
  18. Sonic, Spider-Man, and Strider were only released with horizontal manuals.
  19. Watching that trailer makes me want to play again, but I think I'd rather wait for the physical. Is there an estimated date that the regular release will become available?
  20. That's it! Anyone who likes cinematic platformers should check this one out. They're from different games. The first game is iS: Internal Section. Posting more than one screenshot for it probably wouldn't help since the game has a similar style throughout. Fun game if you like Tempest-style shooters.
