  1. I could've sworn I already made this thread a while back but nope. This thread is for all things Tetris 99. Post your wins, stats, badges, personal records, if you want to face someone in a match, talk strategy, future Tetris 99 Maximus tournament announcements, etc. I will start by giving some strategy. Not general Tetris strategy, but moreso Tetris 99 specific strategy. I have found that if you target KOs or Attackers, you usually end up with the best chance to win. This is because your target usually stays the same, you can target multiple people at once, or you can get someone out quickly who is on the verge of being eliminated. You want to wrack up KOs to get your badges quickly so that you can deal out more garbage damage. Always hold an i piece. This comes in very handy when you need a Tetris, either an offensive or defensive one. You can also build up very high at the beginning, bait people into targeting you, switch to attackers, then get off some quick tetrises to dish out a ton of garbage lines. Usually you'll get 1-3 KOs from doing this. And now that the strategy is out there, I'm proud to say I have cracked the 100 win mark! How are you guys fairing? I'd love to see stats and badges and whatnot!
  2. All solid games! Enjoy man! I had a good time trying to beat my PRs over and over again in NES remix.
  3. I think this is a much better format imo. Have some popular game (or not popular but popular might be better initially) played at a certain time(s) of the year, have sign ups ahead of time, maybe even have a prize. Then compete for a day or week or so, and the top score or fastest time or whatever wins. You could even have something like a small cup. For example, have people play 4 phone games. Each one is worth 25% of the total score. 1st place in a game could get 10pts. Add up the points for where you places in all 4 games, most points wins the cup. I think this could work alongside the NES weekly challenges because I know a lot of people don't have a year to dedicate to a competition. Heck most don't even have a week.
  4. Sounds good man! Well I will give the first two Metroids a try, and Castlevania as well. Resident evil eventually too.
  5. I like that idea a lot actually. I tried doing that on NA back in the day actually. It went okay for a month or so, and then people lost interest because not all the games were your super popular games. The thing I was trying to do was get people to play great but lesser known games, and then everyone talk about their experience mostly for the first time ever. I say go for it. Make a thread and post a new game monthly or however frequently you want. Yea I guess they're different genres and that's moreso what I was getting at. If we did something like Mario kart, you could either have a live competition or make everyone do the same track with the same kart and character. I have an idea for a forum style game I think people would find fun. Just gotta get around to writing it all out. Board games and card games sound fun too! Some are free online to play. Here's to hoping we find another cool avenue of game competition here.
  6. Very good to know. Yes I am playing the original one first and then I'll give super Metroid a go. If I don't like super Metroid I guess there's no hope right?
  7. Enjoy all those games man! I played Oracle of seasons again last year. Very solid Zelda game. Huh I've never heard of softlock in a Pokemon game. I do have dawn of sorrow. Definitely need to give that one a crack. But first up is Metroid! I have started playing that one! Not sure how far in I am but it's decent so far. I'm still getting used to all the backtracking and whatnot. Not sure how I feel about that yet, but I'll keep you and @Reed Rothchild updated.
  8. Definitely MMBN 3. So much fun with that one. All the different versions of boss chips, getting to use viruses like scuttle to fight for you, the extra bosses post game like bass and serenade, all the different styles you could change into. Lots and lots to love about this one. They're all good tbh, except for the star force series. We'll pretend that series never happened. I haven't played MMBN 1 or 2 yet so I can't speak for those, but the rest are good. I too still play 5 on the DS from time to time. Still confused why they put that one on DS after they released MMBN 6 on GBA. Mega man network transmission on GameCube is a very solid and extremely underrated mega man game imo.

    Joy-Con drift

Just submitted my joycon ticket with Nintendo. I will keep you guys posted.

    Joy-Con drift

That sucks. Mine are the special edition Mario Odyssey red joycons and the left joystick drifts all the time even after recalibrating it. I would just replace it if these weren't so expensive but I fear the same problem would still happen down the road. So I'll probably go through Nintendo and see what happens.

    Joy-Con drift

Dang that's a long wait. Do you have a link for how to go about doing that repair service? Edit: NVM I found it. Here it is for others https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/ask/ht/293/cp/677/mq/740https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/ask/ht/789

    Joy-Con drift

Alright I'm experiencing joycon drift now too. Anyone know if you can ship your joycons to Nintendo for them to fix them? It's really hard to play games now. I basically have to use my pro controller for every game now.
  13. I thought of a couple more too. Arc rise Fantasia Lost in shadow Opoona Links crossbow training Dragon quest sword
  14. Nice! The ones I think are good-great off the top of my head are Mario kart Wii Wii sports Wii play Smash bros brawl Pikmin Pikmin 2 Xenoblade chronicles Fire emblem radiant dawn Little kings story Mario strikers charged Geometry wars galaxies Ivy the kiwi New super Mario Bros Legend of Zelda twilight princess Then there are ones I haven't played or other people might think are good like Mario galaxy 1 and 2, the Kirby games, Metroids, the last story, Wii sports resort, donkey Kong, skyward sword, punch out, muramasa, okami, Zack and wiki, castle of shikigami III, and definitely some others I'm missing.
  15. You're spot on with that. I'd even go so far as to say it severely drops after even just the tope 3-5% of games on a system. There usually aren't more than 3-5% great games in a system's library. There are probably 10% good games, and then it really starts falling off after that. If I had to guess, I'd say the Wii only has like 3-4% good games in it's library. I really can't come up with more than 50 that are good games. Then again, I feel like I've only scratched the surface with the 1261 titles it has.
  16. You can emulate pretty easily for any system nowadays. NES is super easy but people still pay hundreds of dollars for lots of games. There will be Wii collectors. How many? Who knows. But yea, there is a crap ton of shovelware. Probably like 99% of the system's library is shovelware. However, there are some gems on the system and very good titles too. Mario strikers charged for example is probably my favorite game on the system and definitely in my top 25 games of all time. And ivy the kiwi and geometry wars galaxies are 2 of my favorite hidden gems on the system. Definitely worth collecting for imo. I need to go back and play through little king's story more. That was a good Pikmin esque game from what I remember.
  17. Same thing happened to me in my early days of collecting. I sold a copy of super robot taisen og saga on NA and same thing, they were like uh this is fake. I felt terrible, fixed the issue by sending them infinite space, and from then on figured out how to check if games are fake. Luckily it's super easy for DS games since the black letters and numbers on the back of the fake carts are always jacked up and different. GBA and DS definitely have it really bad when it comes to fakes.
  18. Assuming we don't have WiFi, I'll go with Yu-Gi-Oh 2011 since that's the newest Yu-Gi-Oh game I've played. Pretty sure I've sunk 300+hrs into it over the years. Every duel is different and this game has well over 50 computers with different decks so that keeps it fresh. Now this could change once I play the newest one on switch but we'll see.
  19. Holy crap dude you're definitely onto something. Here I was thinking Chrono trigger on the DS was $15-20. Nope, it's $40-50 now cart only. Man things have skyrocketed. I guess if a game truly is good, it'll hold it's value over time. I can't believe platinum is $70+ cart only now too. That's crazy. From browsing on eBay, there are so many fakes out there now too. Anyone who collects DS games be very careful and always check the backs of carts to see if they're fake or not.
  20. That's kinda what happened with cave story 3D too. It got reprints, price went way down and has come back up a bit. Xenoblade chronicles is one of the few that has stayed low but I suspect that's moreso because it was also released on the 3DS and switch. That's another thing to keep in mind too if you're investing in modern games. Think about what could see a port over to the switch. Pikmin 3 on switch just got announced today. I bet we'll see some 3DS games too. Heck, cave story that I mentioned is now on switch.
  21. So excited for this!!! Best gaming news all year! I never did get to play the third one since the Wii u is still the only Nintendo system I don't have. Nintendo is knocking it out of the park for the switch.
  22. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! Best gaming news all year!!!!
  23. I was platinum too. Wish they still had it. It was really cool to get the game and watch collection games from there. If anyone has any club Nintendo GameCube controllers, Mario kart trophies, or chotto 3ds systems, pm me please!
  24. Yea you could be on to something. I haven't looked up fire emblem radiant dawn but I imagine that's creeping up there in price. For 3DS reprints, just remember infinite space on the DS was released in 2009, and it was reprinted in 2016. The last DS game was made in 2014. I would not be surprised if you see some 3DS reprints over the next 1-3 years. http://segabits.com/blog/2016/04/22/infinite-space-getting-a-reprint-by-canadian-retailer/
  25. There's no way you could order a company to make you a new batch of a game and that game not be new. Unless of course you open them all up. So yes, super dick move by GameStop.
