  1. @ZeldaFreak, botw is really cool. I should probably add that to my list. I'm digging the Bomberman one too @CasualCart and that Castlevania one @Bearcat-Doug
  2. Question, why do some gamers purposely play bad NES games they don't like, but won't ever try this game?
  3. What's the best video game cover art you've seen? I looked up a couple similar articles online but largely didn't agree with the cover art they chose as being the best. I've been trying to go through a bunch of games I've played and there sure are some great ones out there. Here's some of my favorite cover art I've seen so far. I know I'm definitely missing a ton of cool cover art. What's some of your favorite cover art?
  4. Why don't we all say what we've witnessed first hand lately. I'll start. I went to Ocean City over the 4th of July. NO ONE was wearing masks. Large crowds on the beach, nothing. Large groups walking on sidewalks, nothing. Large groups at bars, nothing (and now all those bars are closed down due to confirmed corona cases, shocker). The ONLY time you ever saw anyone put a mask on was to go into a store where they're required. Around wear I live, no one wears mask, people hang out and have parties every week, it's basically like corona doesn't exist, so yea, it's bad here, REALLY bad.
  5. Lol wow. I think I struck a nerve with you. I totally understand why people hate this game. I never build in the game unless absolutely necessary to build a ramp up a mountain or something. What I was trying to get at is you don't need to build in Fortnite to win or be good. In fact I don't like it because strategically, building a structure gives my position away. Also, not sure how gay marriage got brought up in a Fortnite thread lol. That was really random. If you want to go rant about that do it somewhere else like the political thread.
  6. Do you loathe it because you're not good at building or because you find it hard to defeat enemies because they are building? And you don't have to pay a dime for this game, even for battle passes. Just play for a while, get 1000 free vbucks, buy the battle pass with your free vbucks, get 1000 more free vbucks from the battle pass, repeat next season. You can get skins for free this way.
  7. Lol man I wish I had too. Several opportunities to get one for $400 but at the time that was too much for me. I do have the game complete minus the big box at least.
  8. I think gaming will continue to adapt and probably stay towards what modern games are doing. Esports will be huge in the next 20 years. Colleges are already starting to offer scholarships for esports. It's just in its infancy but people love watching other people play video games. Once it's marketed well and on a bunch of platforms for people to view, it'll explode. The prize money is also climbing steadily which will entice more people to get into that business. I also agree with what others have said, I just don't have the same free time I once had for a 40+ hr long game. Unless it's something incredible like BOTW, I find myself not completing the whole game. A game doesn't need to have a good story either imo. All it needs is good gameplay. I'm totally content playing games like Tetris 99 which have no story because the gameplay is great. Meanwhile, I've found myself not finishing newer games in series that I like because the gameplay just feels like a chore after a while. Pokemon sun and moon, and fire emblem three houses are great examples of this. They tried to do too much. Often times simplicity is best. One thing I really hope doesn't happen is companies giving us incomplete games where you have to pay for new content down the road. Pokemon sword and shield botched this. But games like shovel knight and Fortnite have done a perfect job of implementing tons of new content for free. Either give us a complete game off the bat or provide the updates for free. $30 for new Pokemon dlc is complete crap. Half the price of a new game for dlc? Um no. And if they start putting ads every 30 seconds in games, I'm out.
  9. Dude that's awesome! You wouldn't happen to have a spare big box for Pokemon box would you lol
  10. Ah nice! Good to see he made it over. I'm not really into the homebrew community too much but I know he was big for that community
  11. Did khangames ever make it over here? I feel like we should all reach out to old people who never made it over and see if they're interested.
  12. That's still how I live. I think it's pretty smart to do that. Don't live beyond your means, and save some money each paycheck. Otherwise you'll be hurting big time down the road. And if you want to have kids, you really should think about their future and how you can help them avoid as much debt as possible before they start their adult life. I think you can do pretty well in life even without a nice salary. A lot of it is about your spending habits and how you manage your money. You can do just as well with a 40k salary if you're responsible, as someone with an 80k salary who is terrible with their money.
  13. I agree with you for most games. I hate microtransaction games if the only way to play the game without the experience being annoying is to throw some money at the game. Fortnite is not like that. There aren't any ads, and they actually do keep updating the game, fixing glitches, changing the map, add new weapons and vehicles, etc. For a microtransaction game, they sure do a good job of actually giving back to their gamers. And since the microtransactions are only for new character skins, I never feel like I'm missing out or need to buy stuff. It's a free game, without ads, and there's no benefit game wise to buy stuff, so I see nothing wrong with Fortnites microtransaction model. I never did get into Pokemon go so I can't speak to that one. However, plenty of people I know have spent real money to get more pokeballs and other items though because they don't want to wait for the free ones to replenish. One of my buddies who still plays Pokemon go always complains that they never introduce any new mechanics into the game. Just some new Pokemon here and there. Now something I really don't like is expensive dlc, especially if you can't try out a demo of it ahead of time, but that's another topic and debate for another day.
  14. Why? I haven't paid a dime and have played it for over a year. This game will be a classic just like Pokemon go. You don't have to pay anything to play Fortnite. Nothing you can buy gives you an advantage in the game. Oh and for everyone who hates it because of the building, don't build. I suck at building but have won 27% of my over 500 matches I've played on squads. If you can't build, adapt your strategy, it's that simple. Maybe hide better, work better as a team, get good at aiming, crouch instead of full out running so you make less noise, etc.
  15. I guess I'm one of the very few who actually enjoy this game. I love that it's cross platform, free, and actually on the switch. It's a solid game that they keep fresh with new updates every couple of months. I think a ton of people love to hate on this game even though they've never tried it. Squads is where it's at. Get some buddies and your mic and it's always a good time. Hate it all you want, I still enjoy it and will until they aren't running the servers anymore.
  16. I think that's part of it. I'm a 90s dude so maybe I'm an anomaly. The dude I mentioned who has tons of student debt is almost 40 so it's not just my generation and the younger gens. He also didn't get any help from his parents. He's just terrible with money. I think people have just been really bad with finances for generations. Maybe since credit cards were invented and you could wrack up debt and get whatever you want even if you don't have the money to pay for it right now. The instant culture doesn't help either. People want stuff now and can get it immediately. We're all very much in a now mindset. To me, the future is just as, if not more important when it comes to finances.
  17. Nice. Yea it's always good to pay back higher interest stuff first. You'll save a ton of money in the long run doing it that way. College is getting really crazy expensive. I suspect the college bubble will burst within the next 20 years and then maybe we'll see a big shift. Maybe towards accreditation. You take classes online or wherever, and they get you a piece of paper that says you're qualified for whatever it is you got that training for. Maybe there's another new system where employers say hey if you want to work here, take x, y and z and then you'll be good to go. No 120 credits required. Only 9, 15, 30, whatever. I'm also amazed at how many people with good paying jobs have no savings, or live paycheck to paycheck or both. I just don't understand how it's possible. I know people making 100k a year who have no savings, and this girl who makes that, probably more actually, and was talking at the beginning of corona about how she didn't know what she'd do because she only had enough to pay the bills for one month. I think to myself man, what are you guys doing. There is no reason to be broke when you make 100k+ a year. You're doing something way wrong if that's the boat you're in. (This is all in Maryland btw, and not a big expensive city like NYC or San Francisco). I don't mean that to sound harsh. I know everyone's circumstances are different. And I'm not talking about people who make minimum wage. I totally get that struggle. Basically, save money every pay check, pay off your loans asap, pay your bills on time, don't spend much money on things you don't need, invest, do the full matching amount if your company offers that, write down what you spend on everything in a month, multiply by 12, and see how much money you net. Also look at areas you can cut down expenses. If you do a lot of these, you'll be fine financially.
  18. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to tell my friend PAY.OFF.YOUR.STUDENT.LOANS.ASAP. and he just keeps pushing it aside and buying a new truck and house and whatever else he wants to. He keeps wracking up debt. When it's all said and done, he's going to have paid triple the amount he took out for his loan because he just doesn't understand interest. You gotta pay that stuff off first before you buy shiny toys. Discipline is a crucial skill to manage your money well. Just because you CAN buy something doesn't mean you SHOULD. I agree as well with what others have said. Financial courses need to be mandated in school. It's a necessary life skill, and not knowing how to manage money screws people over for their entire life. Thankfully I self taught as well, and over the past 4 months have learned about stocks too which I believe is another important thing people should learn. You can make a ton of money in stocks if you know what you're doing. And corona has provided a very rare buying opportunity. Tons of stocks are still "on sale". As an example, just look at how cheap airline stocks still are compared to where they used to be pre-corona.
  19. He probably does. I guess we'll see how serious he actually is over the next month or so. It sure does makes this election more interesting though.
  20. I don't think there is a cutoff. But according to this, he missed the deadline for being on the ballot as an independent in 4 states. But he's not running as an independent so idk. He has failed to register with the Federal Election Commission so far. He has to do that if he wants to run. So I guess it's technically not too late but the likelihood of him winning at this point is incredibly low. https://www.businessinsider.com/too-late-for-kanye-west-to-run-for-president-2020-7
  21. Anyone else see that Kanye West is running for president this year? He announced it on July 4th and just gave an interview with Forbes. He plans to run under a new party he made called the Birthday Party. He also revealed the following (this is all real btw): That he’s running for president in 2020 under a new banner—the Birthday Party—with guidance from Elon Musk and an obscure vice presidential candidate he’s already chosen. “Like anything I’ve ever done in my life,” says West, “I’m doing to win.” That he no longer supports President Trump. “I am taking the red hat off, with this interview.” That he’s ok with siphoning off Black votes from the Democratic nominee, thus helping Trump. “I’m not denying it, I just told you. To say that the Black vote is Democratic is a form of racism and white supremacy.” That he’s never voted in his life because he was scared. He was told that if he voted Trump, his music career would be over. He was threatened into being in one party. That he was sick with Covid-19 in February. That he’s suspicious of a coronavirus vaccine, terming vaccines “the mark of the beast.” That he believes “Planned Parenthoods have been placed inside cities by white supremacists to do the Devil’s work.” That he envisions a White House organizational model based on the secret country of Wakanda in Black Panther. His VP pick is Michelle Tidball, an obscure preacher from Wyoming. He denies it is a publicity stunt for his upcoming album. https://www.forbes.com/sites/randalllane/2020/07/08/kanye-west-says-hes-done-with-trump-opens-up-about-white-house-bid-damaging-biden-and-everything-in-between/#3032bf0d47aa
  22. Lol wtf. This is so random! Have not heard about this before. What a whacky special packaging.
  23. All my friends at the beach keep telling me it's packed and no one is wearing masks. Kinda alarming tbh. I imagine this is how it is in many parts of the U.S. Florida is already at 10K cases a day. Imagine after the 4th or July weekend.
