  1. Is it an OEM one from the system? I know there are some fake ones out there.
  2. He used to be a member on NA didn't he? The name sounds familiar.
  3. The non GC compatable Wii's have slightly better image quality from what I hear. Not counting the Wii mini which is Composite only.
  4. I wouldn't want my games anywhere near a fireplace whether it's used or not. Same with bright LED lights as those just fade out boxes.
  5. I can understand the decision to remove RGB as I'm sure less than 1% of people were using it but S-Video was a standard input on most tv's by 1998. I'm still a strong defender that games from this era were designed with composite in mind. If you have a tv with a nice comb filter, Composite can look pretty decent.
  6. There is no official name for the 2nd model SNES but most people seem to be calling it Jr. now. I still prefer SNES mini though. I'm not sure why some people claim it to be better. I guess it just feels fresher and more responsive to them. I've tested out both and they feel the same to me. If anything the SNES mini controller feels lower quality compared to the originals.
  7. We now have a My Life in Gaming effect LOL. People have been buying up the SNES Jr. controllers because they are supposedly better.
  8. Yes, just the US versions for now because nobody cares about Canada. As for the 5 digit number variations, that's going too far down the rabbit hole for me. What do those numbers even mean? Calling @0xDEAFC0DE we need your variant expertise help here.
  9. There is no proof. I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if someone has made a fake SMB/DH just because people are least likely to check it. I am aware that some people believe the epoxy blob versions are fake but to throw everyone away? Why?
  10. Looks like a turtle shell which seems right for a game about stomping on turtles.
  11. Can anyone verify all the variants of Super Mario Bros. 3? My memory is a little fuzzy but the ones that I remember are: Box Left Bros. NES-UM-USA TM SOQ Right Bros. NES-UM-USA-1 TM SOQ Right Bros. NES-UM-USA-1 R SOQ No Mexico Right Bros. NES-UM-USA-1 R SOQ With Mexico Right Bros. NES-UM-USA-1 R SOQ "Challenge Set" Manual Left Bros. NES-UM-USA TM SOQ Right Bros. NES-UM-USA-1 TM SOQ Right Bros. NES-UM-USA-1 R SOQ Right Bros. NES-UM-USA-1* R SOQ Right Bros. NES-UM-USA-1 Circle T R SOQ Game Left Bros. NES-UM-USA TM SOQ Right Bros. NES-UM-USA-1 R SOQ
  12. What's the earliest known chip production date with SMB? That will give us the answer. If it's like 8537 then yeah, it was a launch title.
  13. Decent looking box but black box SMB is really inflated right now due to all of the exposure it got this year.
  14. Usually the subscriber issues got the nicer demo disc. Official Playstation Magazine did this as well.
  15. I thought the subscription versions of the OXM demo discs came in the case? I know the first 10 or so came in a regular DVD size case before switching over to the slim size.
  16. That's how I use to do it as well because I thought that was the only way.
  17. Not sure. They are most likely different. Doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed with friends though.
  18. It's an impressive port. I'm sure it's missing lots of frames so fighting enthusiasts will poo poo on it and the sound is heavily compressed but it looks close to the arcade version. I wonder why they ported Alpha 2 and not Alpha 1?
  19. I think there is a sweet spot for controllers. It's when it's no longer brand new and has been broken in but not completely trashed yet.
  20. I wonder why Canada stuck with the sticker seal on their versions when the US was using shrinkwarp? Is it because Canadians are more trust worthy?
  21. If we are talking about the same game then it absolutely can. A mint CIB can be worth more than a trashed sealed one. It also varies from game to game though. A 5.0 sealed Contra will almost always be worth more than a 10.0 CIB Contra.
  22. I've always wondered what people prefer. Do you like the textured stiff feeling of a new controller or do you like that smooth worn in feel? For those of you who don't know what I mean often times a new controller will have stiff buttons and a slight textured coating on the shell. Over time it wears down and becomes smooth and the buttons become lose. I kind of like worn down feel as the controller seems to grip onto your hands better. What about you?
  23. The same people who would fake a SMB/Duck Hunt or Top Gun because they have nothing better to do.
