  1. If I remember correctly, James Brown got his start pretending to be Little Richard for concerts because it was before they were broadcast on TV and no one really knew what he looked like. And not in mean way, like Little Richard's management hired him to do it.
  2. I think Timewalk did the holos first, and then I don't think I've seen it since Anamanaguchi did it for that white cart of theirs. Nice.
  3. I posted over on Twitter, but LPGE is on hiatus until further notice. Because Convention Quest was an event only exclusive, I hadn't really made it available for sale. But, since we don't know when LPGE will happen again (for sure not until 2021), seems dumb to hold it hostage indefinitely. So if you want a copy, I'm selling them $70 shipped in the US. I'll ship internationally if you'll pay for shipping. @Gloves, much better.
  4. That's a bold statement. Pictures or it didn't happen.
  5. Does anyone know how many we can buy at one time?
  6. Shoot me a message when you play Little Medusa and I'll show you a trick I figured out during beta testing and convinced them to leave in because it's not easy to pull off.
  7. Sorry, I was distracted by the fact that Tyler lives in my city and I don't think we've ever met. Does not look like NOFX was ever released. I have Beatbox, NESK-1, and NTRQ on my shelf. I reached back out to make sure he's doing okay and what he's up to.
  8. Polish/revisions is almost where everyone stops. I've gone back and looked at my past projects, a dozen was the smallest number I've ever done so far.
  9. My sister in-law's family opened a one screen theater like mid 2000s. They're doing great. The rent it out so people can play video games on the big screen. I think they have the ability to play both old movies and first-run titles. When they started, I was worried for them. Guess what? They're doing great and I think expanded. It's the giant cineplexes that I think you're going to see close. 30 screen theaters I think came during this time to see who could do the biggest, and either you're going to see mid-size theaters go and it's just huge multi screen theaters and single screen theaters, or the big ones go away and you see more manageable theaters in the like 3-5 screen range. You wanna hear something really funny, I graduated with a degree in film, ran more than one theater as manager, and volunteered putting films together for the Austin Film Festival and SXSW, who at the time was ranked alongside Sundance and Cannes for how well we treated the prints we handled. NO ONE would hire me. They all said I had to start at concession and I laughed at them. I just wanted to do projection a little bit longer when I saw that film was on the way out. I recently made a documentary about the unreleased Earth Bound for the NES.
  10. I'll edit as I work through this, but the "theater and distributor split" arguement don't fly. The first week the split is usually 90%+ the distributor, 10% to the theater. It typically lowers every week after the movie stays in theaters. The commercials were just greed. It started with the carousels, which weren't terrible. Light music played, I learned some trivia, let's all go to the lobby. Then it clicked they could do the trailers. I remember splicing in that first coke ad. Then it was like AOL. Then insurance or some bullshit. Fuck handouts at the box office. Theaters make their money off cheap soda and popcorn. Source, I used to manage theaters. I do like beer. That was a nice addition. Thanks Alamo! If I go see something in the theater these days, it's usually because someone got out a 35mm print or Alamo is doing some special screening I'm interested in. I saw Logan Noir in the theater and was glad I did.
  11. Someone on discord pointed out they aren't doing international shipping in Japan, period. May just be the quarantine. We'll see.
  12. I'm starting to ask around and see if anyone has a buyer they already use in Japan. Seems like I know enough famicom collectors that talk about having people ship them stuff that there has to be someone in the community who would ship these to the states.
  13. @Divingninja is the winner! Congrats! Whether is was his monstrous 23 cart entry, or his groundbreaking method to pick up 40, looks like the trophy will be staying in Dallas. Honorable mention to @fcgamer.
  14. Records stands at 23. Ends tonight at 11:59PM. I'll go with Central, since that's where I live, but may be lenient and go with each person's time zone like a New Year's party wave since I didn't specify.
  15. Certain parties want to privatize the USPS and have been doing everything they can to run it into the ground. Upping the cost x4 to make it ineffective is a new one. I thought they had them when they did whole pension fund thing, but come rain or shine the USPS doesn't fuck around.
  16. Lol, it shouldn't be. There is a whole list of films that I love, but most people haven't seen. Stuff like Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Summer School, or Zorro The Gay Blade. They're great movies, most people haven't seen them.
  17. I'm happy to report it's just as goofy and fun today as it was then.
  18. Tusk sent me this and I can't stop laughing just thinking about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_Nwm7E_iuA Can't embed videos? What's up with that?
  19. Record stands at 23. Competition ends this weekend.
  20. I believe, IIRC from the director's commentary, the reason The Thing is so well made as a film is because production was delayed a year and he kept doing pre-production during that time. I mean, in terms of who's been taken and when, there are I think two great shots of the hallway that I originally thought were just jumpcuts. Later I would come to realize that those clips are there to show the jackets on the hooks. Great storytelling.
  21. Yes, I'm not so worried about the flip. The point of the rule was that it's one thing to pick up a stack of games, to really know that someone could hold it would be to have the games "upside down" so that we all know you really can maintain control of that many games at one time. The whole idea came from me sorting through large volumes of Nintendo games and realizing I could only grab so many before they tend to explode out. And no, I'm not worried about practicality. We're entering world championship territory. Is it practical to eat 70 hot dogs in one minute? No. But goddamit, @gerbilly can tri-dog if he wants to. At no point did @fcgamer attempt count, but that does not mean that it is not the best entry so far. Really glad you participated, because I don't know that we'll get to meet up in real life anytime soon. Nice to see ya!
  22. The game has gone to places I hadn't considered. It's - evolving.
  23. Yep, just posted on Twitter that @Divingninja is the current record holder at 23 with that entry. Insane. Here's the best entry so far...
  24. Yesterday, one right after the other, @Divingninja and Hal from the Retro World Series, both posted 21 cart entries. There is currently a tie, judges are debating what to do. @Gloves Anyway to get the videos from Twitter to show up here? <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="und" dir="ltr">21 <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/clawcompetition?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#clawcompetition</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/FerrisonNA?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@FerrisonNA</a> <a href="https://t.co/8Pbnlo883M">pic.twitter.com/8Pbnlo883M</a></p>&mdash; Retro World Series (@RetroWrldSeries) <a href="https://twitter.com/RetroWrldSeries/status/1249804150478704640?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 13, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
