  1. They were faked, but I only remember one person doing it on ebay and I think they got reported and that was it, but I haven't been tracking this past yearish. That's what I kinda remember. I probably commented on a thread of NA if you wanna go hunting.
  2. The like 30gb fan remaster of Star Wars I saw was legit. I thought they did a great job. Han shot first.
  3. I finally got my foot in the door with MediaTron for MAGFest last year working camera in concerts. This year, since they knew I had a decent rig of my own and had made videos in the past, they tapped me to do some highlight videos over the course of the weekend. Some of these were requested, groups or departments that wanted some shine, some I just did for fun or because I could. So why not have a video highlighting NES homebrew games on MAGFest's official YouTube channel?
  4. Sweet offer! Thanks, mang. I think we're on to something that won't really become important for another 10 years or so, but you can see it happening here with people starting to collect these items. The National Video Game Museum here in Dallas (Frisco) has their rotating exhibit that switches out. If I can get enough examples and John is open to this weird new thing I have an idea for, I'd like to try and do a display for them. I came up with the term "Video Game Folk Art" because for the most part this stuff is being made without formal training and done with love by random people. Most of the times kids, but not always. I have binders that people made for themselves, sometimes focusing on just a single game. One grandma made like a dozen binders that ranges from NES to Sega to Gameboy, all with super detailed hand written notes next to cutouts from magazines, all organized with tabs for the games. Years of work, for sure. I'd say the center piece for all of this is a Zelda map I have. It's hand drawn, colored, labeled, and is 3' wide by 1' tall. IIRC, it was done by a wife for her husband after he had something happen medically and he was playing through Zelda to regain his mobility and coordination. She made the map for him, with everything marked so he'd know what to do. That map is like the middle part of a Venn diagram because it's both homemade "notes," but then touches on the other half of this stuff for me, which is actual art. In terms of art art, I have sculptures people made for senior year projects of high school, I have the two winning paintings for the MGC contests back in 2015 and 2016, along with whatever else I find at conventions or online, all original and one of kind pieces. If there is interest, I can take pictures of some of my stuff.
  5. Back from MAG and slowly recovering. Where were you when you had it? City, State?
  6. I have a habit of buying this kind of stuff. Somewhere I have all my maps from back in the day, too. For the record, I'm dubbing items like this Video Game Folk Art. Take note. That'll be important later on.
  7. Sell me that white cart! And then sign me up for a cart when you do a run.
  8. Happy anniversary, cute girl or feminine boy! According to the SS reveal thread, they have made it to their new home. Details to follow.
  9. Not sure how to feel about having this be my biggest contribution to VGS, so far. Updated the original post. Looks like we lost some pics along the changeover. We'll see if the guys who transitioned over can update us on where they were when they had the picture. Original eBay auction no longer links up. Sad.
  10. 2023 @The Count @RegularGuyGamer @Fleck586 @Foochie776 @Johnnyboy113 @koifish @guillavoie @The Count ORIGINAL POST Let's see if we can keep this going, even if I'm doing this a little late. I went through that trashpile of another site and found my original post. I'll make this pretty later, but for now a link. @JamesRobot, you here? https://connect.gocollect.com/discussion/116215/brand-new-nintendoage-xmas-tradition I'm sensing a recurring theme! Well, as quickly as it got posted here, it was gone. There was some speculation that it had to be someone on here. I quote the Commander... To answer that question... It was me! But why, oh why, would I buy such a thing?!?! To put it simply, because that shit is hilarious! Look at it! It's funny. Just buying it wouldn't be enough though, so I went that extra step that's really needed when you want to show off a piece that's as magnificient as this. I had it framed. Oh, and yeah, that's a plaque at the bottom with "Cute Girl / or / Feminine Boy?" written on it. In cursive. Looks super fancy pants. It was said at the time that whoever bought it would reveal it via an avatar switch. Well played, buyatari2. As to kill two birds with one stone, I'm not only making it my avatar, I also managed to nail the Santa Hat Avatar switch simultaneously. So bonus combo points there. Bam! But wait, there's more! I could've stopped there, but I like to take things too far. So, this precious beauty will only be with me for a short time before it gets sent off to my NA Secret Santa giftee for 2013. Yes, you read that correctly. One of you lucky bastards will proudly get to display the one of one, extremely rare, "Cute Girl or Feminine Boy?" Polaroid in your very own gaming sanctuary! "Ferris, you're so generous. It's like the gift that keeps on giving." You're right, imaginary friend. Because that's not all! There are some rules that will go along with receiving this monument of awesomeness. The Rules 1. You must hang the picture in your home, preferably with/near your collection. 2. You must ship it off the next year in NA's VGS' Secret Santa. 3. You must take a picture and post it on the interwebs for all to behold. I had a third rule, but forgot what it was. Oh well! I'll leave a blank in case I remember later. There you have it. All the paperwork that came with the photo is attached to the back of the frame. I will also be including a Secret Santa sign up sheet so that once you receive it, you can add your name to the list of proud owners before you get to ship it off to some other poor soul. Discuss amongst yourselves. The original pics, right after framing. I tried to rescue the pictures, but could only find two. I think Beau said his collection was in tubs his year, but I call bullshit. I told him to take a picture of it on one of his tubs. 0. Ferris NA Secret Santa Dallas, TX 2013 1. 11. Well, she knows her shit. I saw her in a panel a year or so ago and she goes deep into some really obscure stuff. She's also been helping out Frank, I think since he started the foundation. I know back in May during the Game Informer Archive backup, she was there the entire time. I mean, I went up and put in a week of work. She was there for all five weeks with Frank. For free, volunteering. We all were. https://www.gameinformer.com/2019/05/13/happening-now-an-archaeological-dig-at-game-informer https://gamehistory.org/kelsey-lewin-codirector/
  12. 2015. That was my first year and I did an interview after it happened. He talks about it at 2:30.
  13. They banned me like a year ago out of the blue after buying from them for years. I assumed it was someone on NA, as it was shortly after the dinner conversation about my buying habits at MAGFest.
  14. Who did the cut scene art, or is that a picture converted into a rom?
  15. It was a convention exclusive, so there is no real way to order it if you aren't getting it physically at LPGE next year. I did take a handful of copies to PRGE last month and sold some there. I may also bring some to MAGFest and MGC, albeit I don't know that I'll have a table at either, I'll just have some if you ask me.
  16. I had some mod capabilities over on NA, really just the homepage and the ability to give out awards. But it looks like I lost all abilities on NA after the switch to GoCollect. I'd been kinda absent the past month and half because I was full time on the Earth Bound documentary.
  17. There hasn't been one up for sale publicly in a long time. I think things heated up with the gifts for full sets from Brian and cooled off after he quit giving out freebies. It is still one of the rarer and more desired homebrews out there.
