  1. I’m not saying it’s a bad game, but in regards to the hype that the internet produced, I think the novelty factor helped get it there. Frankly, it’s a funny scenario. And even funnier that someone made it into a game. It’s kind of a meme and I think that plus the fact that it’s competent is what helped it become overhyped. I’m also in the “the asking price is too high for what it is” camp.
  2. Not super extensively. I’ve been to St. Louis once briefly, but I did spend time in Vegas for a conference and fell in love with the desert (and I went in July, so I’ve got a pretty good idea of the heat) so I’m pretty okay with the idea of the Southwest. But I can’t help but feel like I would miss the forests too. It’s a tough decision.
  3. The original boxes are tough to store and take up a lot of room. In college my roommates and I used to do amiibo tournaments on Smash Wii U to see whose amiibos could kick the other amiibos’ butts.
  4. I’ve applied as far east as St. Louis and as far west as Seattle. With some in between like Salt Lake City. I had considered California but I’m not sure I can tackle that cost of living. Same with Seattle, but o just decided to put some applications out there.
  5. That’s a great question, lol. All I really know going forward is that I want to start this “next phase” of my life. Work, get my own home, and possibly a family. Being in school the last six years of my life, I’m tired of feeling like I’m chasing something. I’ve got two degrees, no debt, and I’m still looking for the next step. Trying to keep my job search in Tennessee has stalled “the next step” I think.
  6. Mid-20s, I have a SO but I’m not sure how long that’s going to last, and yes I’ve got family and siblings here in Nashville.
  7. I’m done with grad school and job hunting. I’m from Nashville and my entire life I’ve wanted to stay there. But after job hunting for awhile, I’ve come to realize that 1. Nashville isn’t the best market for my line of work and 2. I’m getting the urge to move elsewhere. Problem is I’m entirely too sentimental, and I’m afraid of being far away from my family if an emergency or, God forbid, a death occurs. I’m curious what other people have done and what their experiences were. Everything else aside, I’d love to move out west.
  8. That’s like how one of my local game stores has a bunch of sealed Tiger Game.com games and I could totally take out a huge chunk of that set but why the hell would I?
  9. I’ve been contemplating getting either that or the new full size C64 and adding games onto that unit.
  10. I wanted a Commodore 64 for the longest time and I finally found one. But then I realized I didn’t like the long load times of the disc games and the cartridges are stuff I’ve mostly played on other consoles. So I sold it. And now I miss it. I bought and sold a Genesis several times before it “clicked” with me and now I’ve been on a Sega kick for a few months. On the contrary, Game Boy and N64 were my first systems I played as a kid but they haven’t “clicked” for me on a collecting level (yet). I bought my own N64 (played on my brother’s as a kid) and sold it, bought it back, etc. a few times that at this point I think it’s just going to stay. But it’s still teetering the edge of expendable. My Game Boys were my childhood consoles and aren’t going anywhere, but I’ve bought and sold back some cool titles that I thought I wanted but just didn’t have as much fun as I thought I would. That serotonin kick I expected from those games, I’m getting it from my Genesis collection right now. Will it shift to another console in the future? Likely. Will I shave some of my Genesis collection after? Who knows.
  11. After re-reading the initial post I think I misinterpreted it for sure. Rather, they start at the PC price and increase it or decrease depending on condition. That’s not as unreasonable as I initially interpreted it and I’m sorry for posting what I did. Below is the post in question that I read.
  12. I was able to pick up a much more uncommon variant of the Sega Master System Light Phaser
  13. I misinterpreted a social media post by JJGames and posted some wrong information, so I edited it out. I wish him luck in whatever endeavor comes next.
  14. When I was younger I used to get autographed hockey pucks from our local NHL team (Nashville Predators) and I’ve still got those.
  15. Some time has passed. I miss my Commodore 64. The people who made the C64 Mini have made a full sized model with a working keyboard, so once that releases in the United States I may look into that. I looked at prices of Haunting Ground and I regret so much selling that as a kid. I almost feel like I want to “avenge” my childhood and buy it again. But I do genuinely want to play it again.
  16. It’s UN Squardon! Not a bad game, but not super expensive either.
  17. A few for the Tennessee section: Game Galaxy Arcade also has a location inside of Rivergate Mall in Madison, Tennessee. Gamexchange has multiple locations across the state, off the top of my head I can name Clarksville, Cookeville, McMinnville, but I’m sure there are a few more. Oddball Media in Clarksville, TN deals the most in vinyl and CDs but they’ve got a good selection of retro games too and advertise that they buy and sell them. The Great Escape also has a Murfreesboro location. Packards in Oak Ridge, TN was absorbed into/bought by Secret City Exchange, formerly known as McGuire Books. Game Haven in Cookeville, East Knoxville, and Maryville is closed permanently. **EDIT** Here are a few more around the country I can add: In Morgantown, West Virginia there is a nice store called Cartridges Galore Video Games. In Huntingdon, Pennsylvania there is a small little thrift store named Mary’s Bargains owned by a sweet lady who has a surprisingly large section of video games in her store. Some modern, some retro. Good prices.
  18. I’ve wanted the PSVR for a long time and the VR titles seem like a nice subset to collect.
  19. Looks to me like a Sega Mark III cartridge, but I could absolutely be wrong about that.
  20. When I was buying my Switch at GameStop (took advantage of a trade-in deal they had) I bought Super Mario Odyssey with it and the dude was trying everything in his power to get me to buy Breath of the Wild instead. ”It’s a better game.” “You’ll get WAY more play time out of BotW.” The whole time I’m thinking “I promise I’m an adult that can figure out my own purchasing decisions.” Just let customers get what they want.
  21. When I drew the line at CIB only for Genesis, it became a slippery slope into wanting CIB for Nintendo consoles too. OCD is wack.
  22. I’ve told this story a few times but when I was a kid I bought Haunting Ground from GameStop. I played it, liked it, but wanted new games to play so I traded it in (as kids do) for $4 store credit. I’m still not over that one.
  23. All CIB? All loose? Or different for each library? Mine is different depending on the library. For example: Atari (all hardware): a combo of loose and CIB, just depending on what I find. Colecovision: Mostly loose, but CIB if I can find it Intellivision: CIB only Magnavox Odyssey 2: CIB only NES - a combo of loose and CIB, just depending on what I find SNES/N64: Only loose for now but contemplating changing that. Master System and Genesis: CIB only DS/3DS: CIB only Game Boy: loose (that price gap is rough) All CD based games: CIB only What about you? I thought it would be cool to see the variety in how people collect.
