  1. Another interesting metric is that we have 45 members online right now. It's the middle of the day and many of us are working and 45 people are posting/lurking.
  2. Actually, I made a minor change, this one below will only show new/unread content, and not just content topics like NA. I actually like this better: https://www.videogamesage.com/discover/33/
  3. Aha, that's it! I see how it works now. Thanks for that. I've added to my views. I'm not sure how to view them, but I can figure that out. Can I make it the default "Activity" view?
  4. I'm 141?! That's really crazy to me. I couldn't make it in on the first day, but I was hear around the second day it was made public, I think.
  5. Friendly reminder that I tried to kick-off r/gamecoasters on Reddit. The reddit crowd would cringe so hard at this if it caught on. (It didn't.) Because, they are... different. I love them, but they are different.
  6. My first job out of college was... screwing in light fixtures on the front of pontoon boats. I'll never forget it. It was truly a humbling experience and even though I did that for about 4 months, it really helped me appreciate physical labor as a profession. I was barely 120lbs soaking wet at the time, and I had to drag around all of those front railings to put them on my workbench. I was bored out of my mind (I'd been in school and loved "education" for 17 years, keep in mind) but after about 3 months, I got "in the zone". Work days went by fast, the people were great, and at the end of the day I wasn't exhausted and I had a lot of mental energy to focus on my own projects. I almost hated to move along into my career field but, eh... it pays better and was more suited to my talents. Since then I've been a Software Engineer/Architect/Insert Buzzword. I took a crack at being a manager about 6 years ago and I think it was bad timing. It wasn't for me, bu I did just have a newborn son and when work basically told me I couldn't have paternity leave (at all) and had to leave my wife at home, and work 14 hours days, 6 days a week, I said management life was BS and never looked back. So, I'm a C#/.Net Engineer. I love the people generally in the profession. I also enjoy working with customers and users, taking the time to listen to their needs and building what they want, where feasible, or even telling them what they want in a way that excites them, and makes them think it's their idea. I don't mean that in a manipulative way. It's just that users can come up with great ideas, but since they've not developed UI for 15 years, they aren't aware of approaches that can make the experience more intuitive and quicker to use. I do, and I love facilitating that type of development. Ok, I've rambled a bit. I'm just pretty good at what I do, but it's because I've been fortunate to actually find a profession that clicks with me, and I enjoy.
  7. I hate to admit it but I've been side-tracked by a mobile game that I'm beta testing. Soda Dungeon 2. The maker of both SD1 & 2, is quite accessible on Reddit/YouTube and other forms of social media. It is a mobile game, but the guy does seem to have a good grasp on trying to make something with an old school feel, that's also easy to pick-up/put-down and won't hassle you for mobile purchases. In fact, the in-app purchases are, IMHO, perfect. Completely unnecessary and with enough time you can earn them all. That said, they are all pretty reasonable and if you like to throw a few bucks at a dev that's made a good game, the options is always there (which is what I did just to support the guy.) Anyway, I'm not trying to promote the game, but... well I guess I am. Go check it out if you've never heard of it. It's pretty cool.
  8. Ok, I'm not going to always compare this place to NA and it had it's issues. But, they only "feature" that this forum software is missing, that I personally miss, is that when you went to the Recent Activity section, it showed only a list of threads with new content. It didn't matter if the thread had 1 new post or 10, it simply showed you a list of all the threads, in order of their most recent content. On here, if the last activity on the entire forum is three posts, all within the same thread, you see three messages. Maybe I'm missing it, but it'd be nice to only see the most recent threads with new content, rather than ever message. Can this be done easily-ish? It's not a big enough deal for me to ask you guys to re-write the software, but I'd appreciate it if this could be turn on, if it's an option. Thanks (and apologies if I'm not the first to point this out.) I don't come over to the suggestions/feedback often because I'm actually quite happy with this place. Thanks for they great and awesome volunteer work.
  9. This is really good news. Even if 25% are active (and I'm sure it's more than that) 100 active users is pretty good considering the age of the site. Speaking of growth, though, are you guys promoting this site in any of your other digital watering holes? I've not mentioned this place on Reddit yet, when it's been applicable to a conversation because I assumed this was still in an pseudo "open beta" state where anyone could join but we weren't looking for a rush of new users. I know Gloves has been tweaking the site, cutting features on and off and adjusting them to get it "just right", so I didn't know if that was a factor. Anyway, I'm sure if we can encourage other people to come over here, because it's far more convenient, maybe having a fresh, modern site might entice the social-media-only types to venture over hear and give this place a try.

There are various definitions of mint. I should start saying “gem mint” just so those that don’t care as much as I do can get it right.
  11. I float between both. I have no clue, either, but it's not an either/or situation. I will say that forum usage is definitely down, but not completely gone. I still bump my WTB thread too.
  12. Mobile games like that make so much money, they can afford to get A-list celebrities to make commercials for their crappy games. I remember when that commercial came out and, if I recall, it was estimated that they had likely made nearly $1B on that game. That’s right, $1,000,000,000. There was also one for a war game with Arnold Swartzenager and there was another one from that girl from community and Dave Franco. It’s weird. I don’t see any of those games as “legitimate” because all they are are cheaply made money-grabs that scratch the itch of gamblers, without ever having to pay out any real rewards.
  13. I kind of get this. They're like ashcan comic books.
  14. Game Boy stuff. *Casually slurps soda from can* Yup, definitely Game Boy.
  15. My wife and I love WDW. We use to go every year, until we had children. Yes, you read that right. We stopped going when we had kids. We actually took the pair earlier this year, which was our first return in 8 years. We also live near Carowinds in Fort Mill, SC, but we both haven't been there in over 10 years. It's a pretty good park too.
  16. This. I thought I heard mention this was possible, but I coldn't figure it out. It is a bit easier to copy and paste a table, and then manage that post, but I've not seen a way to embed sheets.
  17. This place is suppose to be going dark soon. As in getting a legit dark-mode!
  18. Back in the 90s if I was going to listen to punk, I preferred The Offspring. I'll give them a 5/10.
  19. I understand that. Not quite related, but if you ever have a desire to play the classic Daggerfall, you can't directly buy it but buy anything by Betheseda and they include that, and one other Elder Scrolls game for free. Under one of there Bethesda deals, I bought the cheapest game offered ($1.99, I think) and was able to finally check out Daggerfall. The other games were just a bonus. I don't know about other "hidden" titles, but I'm sure there are others like that as well.
  20. I'm tend to like to collect and have physical copies for any game I play, but I must admit I love GoG.com, and I've been a customer since their owning. I tend to avoid collecting to many PC games because it can be a bit of a pain getting them to run on modern hardware, depending on the title. Of course you can download free versions of games and there's solutions for all of them, so some might ask what's the point but, personally, I like knowing that if I want to download and play a 25 year old PC game, some proceeds go back to the content creator. Of course, GoG is also a bit like Steam but is "DRM Free". That's cool, but I really don't care about new games. It's all about the old ones for me. So, do you guys use GoG? Thoughts, and how big is your library? I tend to throw a bunch of games into my wishlist and I'll pick them up when they are finally 90% discounted or less. I have around 35 games and I doubt I've even paid $100. So, do you GoG?

Darkman acquired, as well as a few others. 21 more to go. Possibly a couple more. Was missing a couple I'd purchased. But ,eh, close enough for now.
  22. Mega-congrats on getting this one. It's actually smaller than I assumed, using your had as a scale. So, is this now the largest, single-item game purchase on informal record? EDIT And with a price like that, I'm now wondering if I'll have to reverse-mortgage my home to ever get that sword used on all of the US, Final Fantasy box art.
  23. I have four pages to read and a lot of work to do today. Other than knowing my role, I've read very little on this thread since it was posted. Be back at some point.
