  1. There's been 80 just this year, not counting the releases last year where in total it's been over 100!. It's been It's the only conclusion that make sense, especially as they keep citing "Budget Cuts". Otherwise there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to it. I really foresee them announcing Disney or (much more likely) NBC announcing a buyout any time now lol Yup. Very much the right hand not having any idea what the left is doing. Aleister Black had a bunch of promo packages promoting his return, came back just to kick Big E in the face, then was released like later that week lol.
  2. Makes it suck even more he got released. Guy had been through a lot this past year. Speaking of releases, more cuts just got announced. These are all the talent release just this month
  3. My thoughts I think can be quickly summed up like this; You're not spending time combing your way back through the Dungeon #2 to get the hookshot a second time for Dungeon #5 then again a bit later to get the mirror shield for Dungeon #8. Meanwhile you definitely have to come back to Brinstar many times in Metroid. You don't really do a whole lot of back tracking in Zelda, with few exceptions. You are required to visit each dungeon once. You go back to nearly every area of a Metroid game a number of times. Honestly the title of this thread makes me really want a "proper" Metroidvania Zelda title. Closest thing to that is maybe Phantom Hourglass with it's Temple of the Ocean King? Maybe that's why like the game so much lol
  4. I take exception with this kind of anti-holiday spirit coming from Secret Santa. What if we want to make our own secret santa with blackjack and hookers what say you @JordyRamone@koifish? lol
  5. This could be said about any of the games really. I assumed we were talking "Zelda clone" in the sub-genre of action adventure or what have you. Otherwise you start getting into semantic territory of who was copying who first lol. I.E. even with 3DDGH for how it is clearly inspired by Zelda, and has more then enough merit to stand on it's own (and add another tally to series that I'd love to see get some love and a sequel).
  6. It helps I'm not in any rush to do it, lol. Been taking my time and take frequent "breaks" between Pokemon games by playing other games lol
  7. Well balls, I'm sad I completely missed out on this (Been kinda shitty last few weeks/months lol)
  8. I'll third the Pokemon hype train, lol. I've been on a Pokemon kick recently, going back and getting the games I missed out on (Gen 5 6 and 7) and playing through and beating all of them. Eventually to work my way to getting a complete "Living Pokedex" on Pokemon Home.
  9. Re: Piracy, while I support those that are on a budget or just outright broke downloading the nearest (and safest) Emulator and ROMs to play GBA or w/e, I think those defending/suggesting it over OP's question are being narrow minded and disingenuous at best. Again, Piracy is fine and go for it if you just want the experience of the games, but there is something (at least for me) satisfying about getting and owning those legit copies of games even if they aren't original carts & hardware. Also, again, doesn't really answer OP's question I'm where the topic of this thread is at, least ~50%. The other half is mostly for Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD, as those are by far my 2 most favorite Zelda games. I'm onboard with @rdrunner and would pick one up, but not just for GBA and even Zelda, as there are still a few other exclusive games that have merit for reason. If by chance you don't have a Wii also makes a good alternative to that, or at least space saver if you want to bust out some random Wii Sports Bowling or w/e lol
  10. Any love for Startropics? No? Just me? Fine lol Really though if there was a series that would deserve another chance in the limelight, it is Startropics. Even if the sequel was hot garbage (I don't think it was that bad, certainly many worse NES titles out there). If nothing else would be a good platform for them to do experimental "Zelda" games without the risk of tarnishing the "Zelda brand". Then if that shit works they can implement it into Zelda proper. Idk lol. Just seems like there is a lot more they could do with it imho. Glad to see Isaac, 3D Dot Game Heroes and Okami (RIP Clover Studios) getting love
  11. I love this stuff. I think the videos are still pretty good even if I think some of his theories he goes a bit cloud cuckoo over lol. If nothing else the vastly increased production quality of the videos makes it worth it (I've been following MatPat since he started and was just a featured highlight on ScrewAttack and cooperating with Pat the NES Punk posting on his site lol) I'll buy this, makes a lot of sense and provides a good explanation for a lot of things. I'll accept this as my head canon. This reminds me of an old Mario fanfic I stumbled upon back in HS, some random forums or geocities site, idr now. But basically Mario turned into a alcoholic Stalin like dictator of the Mushroom Kingdom after defeating Bowser and Peach committing suicide so no he just goes around drunkenly wumping goombas and such from time to time... it really stuck with me for some reason lol MatPat definitely did a theory on this ages ago lol I feel like the Forgotten Temple all but confirms this, especially with it's strong ties to Skyward Sword. Hasn't it been confirmed via Word of God that the entirety of the game is- if not then it is highly ascended fan theory lol I know it's been heavily theorized that Zelda 1 & Zelda 2's map are two parts of the same map? Zelda 1 being the north part and Adventure of Link being the south. Though that loses a bit of steam with the fact then there would be two Death Mountains... but even then going back as far as Link to the Past every Hyrule map has generally been pretty concurrent (with a bit of perspective adjustments) as far as lay out, with only minor-ish discrepancies in regards to things like Kakariko Village. At the least since Ocarina of Time Nintendo has definitely been keeping notes and maintaining some measure of QA on this lol
  12. I love this game. Arguably my most favorite (2D/Sidescrolling) Metroid now (I do still have a fondness in my heart for Prime 2 Echoes ) The gameplay feels so crisp and smooth, if not a bit too slippery at first. It took me a bit to get get used to the timing, especially when pulling off counters and things, as instead of the neat run > counter > shoot fluid gameplay, I'd usually end up running headlong into the enemy then almost certainly getting knocked off the platform lol It was in danger of almost being too excessive in, well, everything. You arguably didn't need the number of missiles they give you (with bosses especially being pretty generous to resupply you mid-fight), let alone having as many upgrades to collect and most of them being only +2. Also, as cool as the run & counter stuff was combined with the new Aeion abilities, it's almost a bit much for me to keep track of. It's a bit tough especially if you hadn't played it in a couple days then try to pick it back up (which happened to me a bit as I only got to play it a couple hours every other day, so it took me over a week to get through it). I definitely forgot how to play it for a little bit and would get my butt kicked lol. I eventually got back on the horse though and it was fine. Maybe the best release this year? Solid A rating, 9/10 game. If you like and metroivanias at all it is worth picking up.
  13. I got a OLED switch even though I've only had my "old" Switch for about a year and a half (will probably end up giving my old one to my Sister lol) I like it a lot, feels a lot more solid then the old original? Might just because it's heavier with the bigger OLED in it lol I do like the brighter screen and better battery life. Also those White joycons and white base just look crisp and clean lol I didn't preorder it but got it at my place of work, which was last White OLED, still had 2 R&B ones (which have long since sold out) Honestly, the number of people who don't have a Switch and are still buying them is quite numerous. Even before the OLED original Switches sold out pretty regularly around me. Usually most big box stores had the odd Switch Lite on hand but even those usually got bought out. Still the same now. May be more indicative of the supply & demand of the pandemic but it's impressive none the less. Also re: "Switch Pro" aka 4k support, I'd heard/read some where that options to upgrade exist within the OLEDs at least? Maybe I'm misremembering but to possibility of them in the future doesn't seem so far fetched.
  14. My best bud is all about this. I think it's neat, may pick one up eventually, but with how hard it is to preorder anything anymore cause Scalpers are among the worst of humanity and I do know how much I'd use it. Still looks really solid.
  15. I heard whispers of Mario Party Superstars, and I am in!
  16. Anyone interested Deltarune Chapter 2 has dropped https://store.steampowered.com/app/1671210/DELTARUNE/ https://tobyfox.itch.io/deltarune Next/Last 3 Chapters are apparently all coming at once as a full game release. Undertale is a fun game even if the fandom can be a bit overbearing. As good as his games are Toby Fox is arguably an even better composer. Either way cool to see progress.
  17. It would probably take that sequel to really have a chance lol
  18. 7/10 I do dig this movie even though it's really dumb, but in the best of ways lol
  19. Arguably the greatest Superhero movie before the recent generation. Personally I like Batman Returns a little bit more but this is still a great watch 8/10
  20. 6/10 there's a few really great songs, like Even Flow, World Wide Suicide or Jeremy, but most of the rest I don't care for. Eddie Vedder has also gotten terribly incoherent with his vocals in recent years. Superblood Wolfmoon is borderline unlistenable.
  21. STP is pretty top notch, but there are a number of other bands/songs I'd go out of my way to listen to first 8/10
  22. An alright movie, but Star Wars is so much better outside of the trilogies. 6/10 would have to say both Return of the Jedi and Empire Strikes Back are better.
