  1. By your claim, the competition is generally of low quality. We're talking about value for money, get what you pay for. Let them try the alternative, find that it is poor, and regret not paying for quality. That's how markets work, its basic economics. It IS that simple. I don't get your last paragraph. How do you mean, "maintain the value of the service"? I never argued that you shouldn't maintain value, I'm saying exactly that - you set the prices, if they don't like it, they can go elsewhere. It's about how you market yourself.
  2. Then take solace in that your competitors have lowered their value on the market and you're open to selling yourself as a premium offering by comparison.
  3. Yeah but like, does it ever work? Do your competitors allow it? I do freelance web development and if someone doesn't accept my provided rates, I drop them immediately, no further conversation. I do so out of not only principle, but also prudence - low balling clients are the most demanding, and literally never worth my time.
  4. Just say no and move on?
  5. I know only that the technical possibilities grow with each Gen. It's up to the professionals to find and make use of the new possibilities. One example I suppose, top of my head, could be Ray tracing. Not the most exciting "new" (not very) thing certainly, but an example nonetheless. Computational power and ease of use of development tools as they evolve can make it easier for devs to create the things in their heads. Broadening the pool with easier access to tools can bring in minds that wouldn't have tried sooner. And of course the excitement inherent in a new toy can draw in yet more eyes. All that to say, the possibilities are surely greater than the generation prior. I don't know what exactly might be different personally, but I can always hold excitement to see what people do with it.
  6. That's it, yeah. Has nothing at all to do with Michael Myers.
  7. I'm not a game developer so am not qualified to speak to what might excite Devs in the space at this time.
  8. Resident Evil nailed it for survival horror with what was possible at the time, while leading the way for others like Silent Hill which had similar (though improved - 3 years later) controls. They couldn't have done Resident Evil 4 style controls on PS1 while retaining the same atmosphere due to technical limitations. There's really nothing wrong with tank controls, I quite like them. It's that Resident Evil was out there blazing trails. RE2 fuckin NAILED it.
  9. It's been too long since I last had a chance to sit and play, so I've basically forgotten everything about where I was in Extermination (PS2). I think I'm gonna have to move on to another game and revisit it some other time. Feeling like a nice relaxing RPG.
  10. Hopefully next year I can participate before all the good games are gone.
  11. Canada is ranked #5. Rekt!
  12. Agree. No, I think I'll judge all of Asian culture based on one girlfriend, thank you very much.
  13. Sorry to hear about that, I hope you feel better soon. In these things honest communication are key. Your feelings are valid and if you're not ready to move on, have that conversation. You both need to be ready, or it won't work. As FC said - take the time you need to grieve.
  14. It's a hack, not a homebrew, but I'm being a pedantic jerk. The case looks nice though, and the hang tab is cool.
  15. I document my games on my personal tracker, including photos (where I've provided them): https://glovesoffgames.com Also, yes, I've picked up a few acrylic cases to test em out and they're great! You can see photos of the acrylic case on a Game Boy game here: https://glovesoffgames.com/games/game-boy/final-fantasy-legend-ii
  16. I've got the Shout Factory Halloween set on preorder, and they should arrive well in advance, so I'll be watching those for sure.
  17. GOG (previously "Good Old Games") is a DRM-free service for buying games. Think Steam but you can download the games' install files and there's no DRM whatsoever; share the files with family and friends without fear of reprimand, nor of the need to be online on some service just to play, well, Doom. It's primarily a place for older PC games, but they do new releases as well. I use it as my go-to for purchasing games wherever possible because I am firmly anti-DRM. Webhead described the 4th episode so I'll skip that.
  18. Have you played A Link Between Worlds? I loooooved it.
  19. The Hyperion Cantos is split into 4 books, the first two and the last two being hundreds of years separated. You really need to read the second book! You basically just read The Fellowship of the Ring.
