Nice going gradma!

Officers of the Nassau County Police Department arrested Joshua Estrella Gomez, 28, and charged him with attempted grand larceny in the third degree. He was released on an appearance ticket and is due to appear in court on February 3.

Ah, well, it is NYC. Home of the revolving prison door... won't see this guy again because he's never going to show up for that court date.

Between the catch and release  illegals and the personal recognizance bonds it makes you wonder how many scoundrels, scofflaws, footpads, jacklegs and much worse are running around on the streets preying on the rest of us  there are.

I shouldn't laugh, but the article starts off with

An Irish man is facing decades behind bars over an alleged meltdown

*snicker*  I've seen enough BBC to know how that goes...

There was no "foul play" involved, and since he owned many illegal venous snakes... I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the culprit was probably some limbless carnivorous reptile

It's pretty amazing how stupid and greedy people get when it comes to money

Screenshot-from-2022-01-24-12-06-38.png

The long-running case of a former deep-sea treasure hunter marking his sixth year in jail for refusing to disclose the whereabouts of missing gold coins has hit yet another roadblock. Research scientist Tommy Thompson has been held in contempt of court since Dec. 15, 2015, for that refusal. He is also incurring a daily fine of $1,000.

Really - you'd rather spend years in jail than disclose the whereabouts of money which by law is not yours...

Despite an investors lawsuit and a federal court order, Thompson, 69, still won't cooperate with authorities trying to find 500 coins minted from some of the gold, according to court records, federal prosecutors and Algenon Marbley, the judge who found Thompson in contempt. Thompson has previously said, without providing details, that the coins — valued at about $2.5 million — were turned over to a trust in Belize. After Thompson failed to appear for a 2012 Ohio hearing to discuss the coins, U.S. marshals eventually tracked him to Florida in 2015 and arrested him.

Yeah, guess he doesn't value his time, freedom, nor life as much as those glittery gold coins

The Italian senate was meeting on Zoom, to discuss data transparency in politics. As Nobel Prize winner Giorgio Parisi began to speak, a user by the name of Alex Spence entered the chat and “Zoombombed” the senate by playing a pornographic video of Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s Tifa Lockhart for a short period of time, before he was disconnected.

This is a town over from me.  This is NOT NYC.  NYC is about 40 mins away.  Nice try!

Maybe he's deranged, or maybe government greed is possibly pointing to maybe there's more to the story?  Either way that says 5 years, and $1000/day fine.  That's $1,825,000 out of $2,500,000 worth of gold coins, and betting he has had some maybe lawyer fees or whatever.  Those coins are more or less gone in expenses. 😄

Another case of poetic justice.

One of the first things my old man taught me about vehicles was never to get under one when held up by just a jack(s).

Oh, don't worry, there's a good chance you could see more headlines out of this, as it may only be a matter of time before "the victim's" family sues the car owner for their vehicle crushing the thief.  You and I both know that's utter nonsense, but dumber things in a similar vein have prevailed against common sense thanks to our wonderful legal system.

The jack manufacturer is no doubt responsible too.    Maybe the car manufacturer for failing to put a quick release mechanism on the catalytic converter.
