None of the research had any military use, they said in statements. I can tell you that their claim that the research had no military application is pure bullshit. It's well known in academia that any cutting-edge scientific research associated with China is always tied in to the Chinese military. Why do scientists do this? As a senior UK scientist, Dr Teobaldi’s work has benefited from taxpayer-funded grants totalling more than £600,000 and his papers have made repeated use of the ARCHER supercomputer. Yup, money. China will happily fund research that benefits them in any way-shape-or-form especially when it may give them an edge over their archenemy - the USA. Funny thing, China also considers the UK to be expendable and a threat because of close ties with the USA, but sadly, many academics are FULL OF SHITE. He has also accepted an award from China’s “Thousand Talents” plan, a Chinese programme that has been linked to intellectual property theft in other countries, whose participants are restricted from US federal funding. Again, none of these scientists are guiltless. At most, they turn a blind eye, but they're not stupid. They may be corrupt, but not stupid. They're getting all the funding they want and also BIG bonuses from China, and hence they look the other way, at the same time screwing the USA, UK, and much of the world.
