Music Debate #69: Gorillaz

I had to give them a 10 for my 4 years old daughter who absolutely love Gorillaz. It definitely counts as her favorite artist(s) of her little life, as her 4 years old birthday cake can assess :

The pics on the cake are from Tranz's clip on The Now Now 2018 album. It's a very rad song so I'll post the link to those that'd like to hear more recent and catchy Gorillaz stuff :

I'd also add that if I had to vote for myself only, I would probably give 8-9 to Gorillaz, and right now probably 9 taking in account that they have been releasing good materials in the last 3-4 years, so they are very active right now and hardly release stuff that isn't polished and well composed/produced.

I once said on NA that I personally consider Damon Albarn to be one of the most prolific British pop composer of the last 3 decades, so as he's one of my personal favorite pop musician, and since I've gone through the Blur/Gorillaz libraries in the last 3 years, from hits to albums to B-sides, I shouldn't feel ashamed to let a 10 slide off to Damon as I've been listening to a bunch  of his work lately.

Del has a billion different side projects, but Deltron is the one made up largely of the people who did the original Gorillaz album.

Word!  I didn't realize Dan the Automator and Kid Koala were party to that first album.  Kid Koala's Carpal Tunnel Syndrom is probably my favorite scratch hip hop record.

Not really my type of music but I like a handful of songs and understand why people like the music. Definitely a good artist, just not typically my thing. 8/10

On Melancholy Hill is my favorite jam by them. Definitely one of my favorites due to how consistent and unique their music is. A solid 9/10 for me.

Most of their stuff after Plastic Beach have been hit or miss but their Sound Machine songs this year are all 10/10

a solid 6/10. Feel Good Inc is a great jam... though i honestly couldn't come up with anything else off the top of my head without looking lol
