It did wildly well in the day - charted at number 1 on US Billboard 100 (pretty amazing actually since Blondie had never charted before).

The album Parallel Lines also charted very well all over the world.

I know it was popular, but IMO there are better Blondie songs.

Call me, Rapture, Maria, etc.

Don't listen to these plebs.  If you don't like the (superior) SMS version, you won't like the studio version either 😎

Why don't we let Gloves decide for himself what is art and what is a mere shadow of art.

HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE DEBBIE HARRY?

Agreed.  I think this is my favorite Blondie song.  I think they are rather hit or miss but they definitely made some great tunes.  Heart of Glass is definitely up there too.

9 and 7 respectively. There are other Blondie songs I'd rather listen to because this is probably their most overplayed hit that gets Blondie unjustly tagged as a disco band but it's still one of their best.

Rating Genius of Love as a song and not factoring in historical importance, it's good, but gets a bit annoying.

While we're on the subject of Blondie (the singer, not the comic strip) you might want to do this one in the future.  You know in all my almost 44 (sigh...) years I never got to ride in a convertible and it looks WAY cool!  I mean they famously use one in Outrun after all...
