Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five are kind of an artifact of the 80s, especially the "message" stuff that was in vogue at the time, hence the title. I prefer White Lines and some of their later stuff. 

Never been a huge Bruno Mars fan. I think I hear people quoting lines of his stuff more than his actual music.

I have some sort of unexplained affection towards The Message entirely because it's a classic. Everyone knows those cheesy lines and musical hooks, it's just so iconic. Hard to ignore that. But it's also kinda trash, it's not a song I'd ever just sit down and listen to unironically to enjoy it.

That other song is incredibly annoying.

I'll go 8 for The Message and 3 for the Bruno Mars song. VGS hates The Message, man. I don't know anything about music. Is the consensus of rap fans that The Message doesn't hold up?? The beats are iconic, the last verse is fire, and this is the forum full of people who play outdated crap like N64?

Some Bruno songs I may rate as high as a 8 or 9, but this isn't one of them.

"The Message" is a song I respect more so than enjoy. 6/10 seems right on the Reed scale.

The Message is the kind of rap song that people are referring to when they talk about 80s rap being kind of milquetoast. I seem to remember SNL doing a sketch about it...
