  1. Archive .org is always a risk of being sued into oblivion since they straight up give away stuff for free under the guise of academic use. The ironic thing about archiving game history is you need to do it with mass appeal while staying low on the radar.
  2. Nice, thank you for this. Is there a way to get a downloadable version of this? A permanent shareable archive is far more important than having an online version that can go offline at any time
  3. Unfortunately it isn’t. I’m looking for the polar opposite. That one has a Hangtab box and a 5-screw cartridge, I’m looking for a no Hangtab box and a 3-screw cartridge.
  4. Hey guys, I just realized I’m a total NES poser and I need to complete my NES collection once and for all if I ever want to be a NES pro. I still need about 250 CIBs to finish my set but I want to knock out the heavy hitters while I still can. Im willing to buy your CIB if it means I can get the box. Anyway, here we go! 5. I wonder if Nintendo even has access to that data. Wasn’t the service ran by a Saint Giga? As far as I remember, there’s closer to 250 games for the platform.
  6. oh look! It’s my sleep paralysis demon...just in time for me to go to bed at 2am....thanks OptOut :)
  7. Updated. Thanks again @Archon 1981 93.333% of the "90" that exist are now documented....why the hell would Nintendo number them #0001 - #0350 (or 0400) if they only made 90? hmm...
  8. I already got that one in my archive, but since you pointed it out to me I can give you the $10 bounty for the new angle photo. Also, this cart has one strange, but funny picture associated with it. Some dude posed with the cart on his hairy nipple with it....keep this photo in mind, whoever buys it :V
  9. I love it! turning that schlong-nose into a pizza-hut-rooftop-nose was brilliant. Also, I wonder if Disney got the idea to call it Wreck-It Ralph *because* of Wrecking Crew. .. Do you mind if I update my avatar to your rendition of Little Samson by the way?
  10. I sometimes don't reply simply because I forget because I get too many DM's, Text, Emails, @'s and Alerts in a single day on different platforms because I'm constantly messaging people about rare stuff and information. I just went through my messages here on VGS alone and found out I owe someone $20 for NWC photos :V
  11. Hey Give me a break it’s not like I keep these things on file or something!! >_>
  12. This one don’t count, I watch pats videos but thanks for keeping an eye out!
  13. And @Archon 1981 claims the next $100! Im gonna update the list as soon as I get home. We’re approaching the fabled “90” copies and I think it’s time to put that rumor to rest.
  14. ...also last I checked, NWC is a Mario game :V
  15. This isn't even the rarest official Mario game like it's claiming to be. Super Mario Bros. Special on the PC-88 is extremely rare, but the Sharp X1 version is even rarer. If I'm not mistaken, there's even a couple undumped, official Donkey Kong games for the Sharp X1.
  16. Like it or not, Donald Trump is leader of the most power nation on Earth and has access to the worlds best doctors and medicine. He is going to be getting the best treatment money can pay for and will come out of this fine. I say he gets mild to moderate symptoms at worst. In the event he dies though, we do have protocols in place and clear lines of succession. Also, timing couldn't be any better either if he does pass (or falls ill enough that he can't fulfill his duties as President) Pence would only have to fill the role as president until January 20, 2021. That's 3 months from now. I'm sure Pence is already receiving precautionary briefings as well, and is preparing for the unlikely event that he will have to run the country for the next three months.
  17. I'm saving my personal opinions until I gather a bit more comments but I like what I'm seeing so far. To add additional "fuel to the fire" we can look at Super Mario Bros. 2 / Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic of course but there are other Mario titles on the NES that deserve equal attention. Super Mario Bros. vs. All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros. vs. Super Mario Bros. Special vs. Super Luigi Bros vs. VS. Super Mario Bros. Super Mario Bros. 1/2/3/Lost Levels vs. SMB 1/2/3/Lost Levels on SNES vs. Super Mario Bros. 2/3 GBA Mario Bros. vs. Mario Bros. Classic Series vs. Kaettekita Mario Bros. (super fun to think about this one since Classic Series ROM is based on Kaettekita) And yes, someone hit the nail on the head with something I also want to touch on. The amount of work that goes into translating and LOCALIZING a game is huge compared to adjusting a title screen. Let's keep this going and see where it leads.
  18. In terms of variants I think there are five major variants of Sachen cartridges. Light Grey with Original Artwork label on thick paper Light Grey with Original Artwork label on thick paper with a pin out hole in the top left corner Dark grey with Original Artwork label on thick paper with a pin out hole in the top left corner Dark grey with generic label on thick paper, pin out Datk grey with generic label on thin paper and pin out. ... Also: I’m looking for a generic Olympic IQ. They just flat out don’t exist.
  19. I want to touch on this subject to gauge the community. At what point is a game different enough to be qualified as a unique title? Throughout the history of gaming, games have been modified, re-released, and altered on scales as small as a title screen change, to as large as a complete reworking of the game while maintaining a small fraction of the original contents in tact. Some games are ported to various consoles and have to operate under the consoles limitations, others are reworked on the same platform and changed enough to warrant a new release....I want to explore these differences and see where the line should be drawn. Here are some various examples of changes. The Legend of Zelda (NES, 1986) In the US, the Legend of Zelda has two different software releases. The differences between the two I believe are a couple bug fixes and an alteration to the main title screen. Clearly not enough change to be a unique game. But, if we go by title screens alone then you have to take it one step further and look at... Family Fun Fitness: Stadium Events & World Class Track Meet Sometime ago, Stadium Events was released and that pissed off a lot of collectors 30 years later. But, is its common counterpart *really* a unique game? All they did was alter the packaging, title screen, and one graphic element in the game...the music is same, the gameplay is the same, only the name is different and who released it. I guess if you count publisher variants, then you have to look at this next one. Pac-Man This game is basically all the same. If I'm not mistaken this is all based on the same ROM released in Japan on the Famicom. Same game, marketed as the same game but just different publishers and release circumstances. There's even a clear transition in artwork from the boxart. Tengen Licensed Meth-addict Pac-Man Tengen Unlicensed Meth-addict Pac-Man Tengen Unlicensed Happy Pac-Man Namco Licensed Happy Pac-Man ...but what about sprite changes? Are they enough? Surely a sprite change makes a different game right? Well... Probotector & Contra Resolution changes, characters change....even the story changes a bit if you read the manuals....but the game in terms of the overall experience is still the same... So we're getting to the point that you can say the game is actually different. But let's look at the most radical one on the NES. Kamen no ninja Hanamaru vs. Yo Noid! CLEARLY This is a different game right? Well...look closely at the video and you'll see that the levels are still the exact same thing despite looking completely different. Screenshots don't do justice to this one ... So where should the line be drawn? I can think of dozens of other examples too, even outside of the NES library, like Bubble Bobble 2 by Natsume vs. Taito for the Game Boy, or Kingdom Hearts PS2, vs Kingdom Hearts Final Mix on PS2...or Ninja Bread Man vs. Anubis II vs. Myth Makers: Trixie in Toyland vs. Rock 'n' Roll Adventures
  20. Gotta see what Wrecking Crew's Mario would like like drawn up nicely. That shlong-nose of his needs to be drawn in hi-fidelity damn it.
  21. I was being cheeky really. I personally even separate DSi, and New 3DS games from their respective lists. I even go as far as calling Aladdin Deck Enhancer games, eReader, and Sega CD32X games their own platform. As far as I’m concerned there exists the following Nintendo handheld generations: 1. Game & Watch 2. Game Boy 3. Game Boy Color 4. Virtual Boy 5. Game Boy Advance 6. Pokemon Mini 7. Nintendo eReader 8. Nintendo DS 9. Nintendo DSi 10. Nintendo 3DS 11. New Nintendo 3DS 12. Nintendo Switch There may be some stuff I’m missing, like I know as a fact that “Pokemon Pikachu” and it’s sequel aren’t part of the “Pokemon Mini” line and are actually dedicated handhelds instead of cartridge based games, but then again so are the Game & Watch games....also, I’m not sure if Virtual Boy and Switch are closer related to their own category instead of being considered handhelds. Either way, it boils down to the fact that I separate the gameboy and DS lines.
  22. Full Disclosure: I consider myself friendly towards WATA and company but I’m openly willing to comment and criticize on the shortfalls and also give praise to WATA, Deniz, and Kenneth and their advisors where due. People in position of “Authority” or “Power” (relatively speaking) can not exist in a vacuum. Even the most noble of people have friends, partners, and loved ones that may result in compromising the facade of neutrality. Furthermore, a company like WATA cannot exist without having insider knowledge of what is and isn’t collectible, and to get to that point these people must also have the desire to attain these things to begin with, making already a conflicting interest. Ethically speaking, A truly perfect grading company would bar all partners, advisors, officers, and employees, from the past, present, and future from using their services permanently. A perfect grading company should also have agreements in place to keep all of their items in their collections frozen in trust for a certain amount of time after their employment ends to prevent conflicting interests...they should also demand that their collections do not grow during their time at the company. ... However, you won’t attract the best of the best if you implement something like this. At the end of the day, WATA is a company run by people. People like money, and that’s not a bad thing. Im not with the “in” crowd specifically since I’m not “one of them” but I do have the advantage of experience allowing me to know what exists and what doesn’t. I’m not saying I’m a living encyclopedia but just because they have an upper hand with easily accessible knowledge doesn’t mean everyone else doesn’t have an equal opportunity. I can just as easily throw caution to the wind, take out a loan for $X thousand dollars and buy sealed games and flip them since I’ve been around long enough to know what’s hot and what’s not. But I won’t do that because to me collecting is fun, not business. ... again, business is also fine. Getting priced out of the hobby sucks, but it’s been going on since they stopped making these things in the 80s and 90s.
  23. I may have already heard of this one from two awesome dudes. One of which is OP. Thanks for sharing it publicly @Archon 1981 I’m glad I can move it over...also DM me your PayPal.
  24. After hours of work I managed to get it to boot...but man at what cost. i no longer trust this thing so I’ll be backing up all data in it manually. Looking now, there’s nothing “important” in here but I’m glad I managed to get it this far Edit: So I got the thing working 100% perfectly again, put it all back together and I’m going to assume the flaw was either the trackpad, dust, or wiring. Somehow it’s working faster than before, and all I did was remove the trackpad....Why? Either way, I’m gonna push this thing as far as I can, and operate solely on a SECONDARY external hard drive I have laying around (meaning not my backup drive) I *really* want to push this laptop until the next generation of AMD processors come out. ... Anyone have any ideas why a trackpad would cause issues like this?
  25. Well it happened, my laptop fried somehow. I noticed that for the past few weeks it’s been getting extremely slow, and network connectivity would drop out once in a while, not to mention I would get an occasional blue screen once a week for the past month! The shitty thing is I haven’t done my weekly backup yet, so if the SSD failed as well then I lost a weeks worth of data, which includes a couple dozen box, manual, cartridge and board scans....oh well, I doubt the drive fried but I’m prepared to accept it if it did. This laptop was my daily driver and I think it’s finally time to upgrade to a PC again. The most annoying thing is I was planning on upgrading around Spring next year! Darn it
