  1. Finally got around to my list again. Happy Halloween you knuckle heads
  2. Damn someone message me when the next tetris contest comes around.
  3. Agreed. Even if the best ending is simply a screen that says "the end" like in the second loop of Psikyo games lol.
  4. Didn't you 1cc Ikaruga or am I wrong? It's definitely not in the "hardest shmups category" but also no joke either. How'd you rank that against these other games?
  5. I haven't played Dark Souls but every time I see shit like that listed as "the hardest game ever" I'm reminded these are the same people that say shit like Battletoads or Silver Surfer (both near the top of that list) are also some of the hardest games ever made. It's hard to take anything like this seriously at all when you see that but I will fully admit I've never played Dark Souls.
  6. Ding ding ding. Any game where you have unlimited lives to work with has basically no difficulty whatsoever in my eyes. You are essentially playing with save states at that point, so what exactly is the challenge again? I guess if the game is terribly designed such that if you get powered down on death or something and the enemies are literally or nearly impossible to overcome then yeah. But that's more the design of a shitty game than challenge.
  7. Kinda surprised you had CT over FFIII considering I seem to recall you said FFIII was better in the past but maybe I'm not remembering correctly. Still blows my mind that Batman Forever is only like 650. It's hard to fathom that there are 60 games worse than it lol. Surely that is the worst high profile game on the SNES although Pit Fighter has quite a bit of name recognition as well. What do you say Reed? What is the worst "high profile" game on the SNES?
  8. AREA 88 (fuck UN Squadron) top snes shump! To be honest I'm not really sure what I would rank #1 for shmups on snes but it is certainly in that conversation. It's one of the very few games I'd place above its original arcade version and also perhaps one of the most perfect "shmup rpg" games you will find. You've also got 4 difficulty settings that will satisfy pretty much every type of player. The only thing I'm not sure about is if the scoring is busted. Not sure if 1 up loops are possible with the ground convoy missions and playing the last stage over and over again? Most snes games have broken scoring so I probably wouldn't hold it too much against it but it would hold it back for me for best shmup on the system if that were possible. Maybe I'd still rank sonic wings over it since that's basically 16 bit psikyo which is pretty fucking cool too. Dunno. Still one of the best snes games and hasn't lost much of its luster even after 30 years. Also, Zelda 64 fucking sucks.
  9. My list has remained stagnant for a few months now but that doesn't mean I've given up. Some of these things take months or years to achieve. Also I've cleared a ton of shit not on my initial list so eh I'm not feeling that bad about my apparent lack of progress.
  10. Super Mario Kart for me. I absolutely LOVE the original SNES game and it's extremely fast, arcade quality gameplay and controls. The N64 game is terrible, it feels like I'm playing in slow motion with terrible, slippery and awkward controls. Didn't like the gamecube one much at all either. Couldn't really say much about any of the recent Mario Kart games since I don't own any of those system nor do I care to but I doubt they play anything like original.
  11. I ain't offended, just correcting info that is not true. You use the term "conversion" and that has a pretty specific meaning in the arcade world and especially for Neo-Geo, meaning a bootleg AES game created from a MVS game. The AES Samurai Shodown 5 and 5 Special are not conversions or bootlegs. They were probably not sold at retail on store selves in the US (Japan versions may have been) but you definitely could get them from online order, and they are 100% legit SNK products.
  12. Not sure what you are talking about with respect to conversions. Samurai Showdown 5 and 5 Special (of which there are 2 versions, unfixed and fixed) are both on AES, both English and Japanese, they are not conversions. This list is shit BTW, it doesn't even have Metal Slug 1 or 2 on there, both of which are more expensive (much more in fact) than the other MS games. Kizuna Encounter price is clearly the Japanese price (or some bootleg) as the English version is going to be in the 5 figure range easy. Also missing Ultimate 11 if you want to talk English games, and that's another 5 figure game that has only a handful of copies. A much better list is at: https://www.neogeokult.com/aes-price-guide/, although these are outdated and you will probably need to multiply the prices by 2 or 3 times to get the correct values today.
  13. Never played (and never will) League of Legends. That said, the original DOTA (the WC3 mod) was fucking awesome, played it for like 5 years and loved every minute of it. The main issue with these types of games is that the learning curve is just enormous, there are so many heroes, abilities, and items (and build orders, counters, etc), all of which you must have memorized in order to actually be good at the game. And even after all of that you are still reliant on your team, so you better come in with at least 1 or 2 friends unless you want to get rolled.
  14. Regardless of which you think is better between sm3 and smw, at least we all agree that mario 64 sucks.
  15. Yeah i have the japanse pcb where It's invincible unless you bomb. I've cleared it while practiting some save states in mame without invincibility. it's actually not hard at all because bombs work on it, you just end up using most of your lives and your score will be a lot worse. Just getting to it is the hard part. I might burn a rom of the version without the bug and eventually do a clear of that too just to demonstrate it.
  16. I havent quit, just still playing dangun feveron and trying to reach the tlb. No miss requirement what the fuck were they thinking? Still seems very far off as I've yet to make it to the final stage without dying at least once And I've been playing the game a shit load but it's so easy to die, even on stage fucking 2. Guess I need to route every fucking second of this one if I'm actually going to get it done.
  17. I'm really glad nintendo decided to end the series with this game, there's no way they could possibly top it anyway. Going out on top is always better than releasing a bunch of terrible sequels and ruining the series to the point where there are far more bad games than good ones. Thank God they didn't do that.
  18. I'm also on the ng iii us >>> famicom version train. The level of challenge in the us version is perfect.
  19. I find that the D-pad (at least the good ones, which are surprisingly rare to find) allow me to hit smaller movements much easier than the stick. Even with a lot of practice on the stick and clearing a bunch of stuff I'm still finding that I generally just play better and make less mistakes using the d-pad. This is especially true with bullet hell games that require lots of tight dodges and micro-adjustments. I really wish it was the other way around and that I played better on the stick because I much prefer the "true arcade experience" but at the same time I also have a lot of goals that I'd like to meet, and using the stick just wasn't working for certain games (I'm looking at you DoDonPachi) and started to become a massive handicap. Also, cool to see another player clearing some shmups on real hardware, we definitely need more of these types of videos and less WORLD OF SHITPLAYS. Even on the shmups forum it seems to be extremely rare that people who own these PCBs actually play them let alone clear anything, let alone record said clears.
  20. Mostly arcade stuff right now although I do have a ps3 and Japanese 360 although not very many games.
  21. Preferred. However, I am very picky about them, I use the ones that ONLY have "sixaxis" markings on them. The ones with dualshock 3 markings seem to have awful dpads, at least all the ones I have. Alternatively I could use a Saturn controller, which I also have an adapter for. I'm still not great using the stick although I have done a bunch of clears with the stick too (DonPachi probably the hardest one).
  22. Esp ra.de. done after a few days of trying. Pretty fun game, would like to play the ps4 or switch version at some point since they add a new, much harder final boss.
