WTB: BD&A Nintendo 64 Plush from '97-'98, Sculptor's Cut CIB
broncofantd793 replied to broncofantd793's topic in Buying
I did some eBay surfing and I see sets of the four non-green Yoshi’s 4 that have different sizes. They smaller ones almost look like the size of black/white Yoshi. Edit: And someone on reddit appears to have the smaller set of 4 Yoshi‘s and some additional variants. -

Are the tush tags from BD&A? I haven’t seen any advertising for them specifically, but the mess of Diddy Kong makes it possible they had different sizes of the Yoshi’s. -

WTB Broken Game Consoles, Controllers and Game Carts
broncofantd793 replied to ProtonX's topic in Buying
I have a ds lite that is a partially disassembled re-shelled Pokemon Dialga & Palkia. The bottom screen originally did not work. Battery included. Charger not included. Also have a GC (won't read discs), wii that won't read discs, and a skinny ps2 that plays ps1 and dvd, but not ps2 games. -
What’s wrong with this DS Lite?
broncofantd793 replied to broncofantd793's topic in Collector's Questions
Should I be sending this to hang out with those famed E.T. carts? -
This is a Nintendo DS lite that is the Dialga & Palkia edition. The bottom screen doesn’t seem to work. Not sure about the top I opened it up. All of the screws are out. It looks like there is a tiny ribbon broken on it. I think someone tried to fix it, then that person closed it and bamboozled me. Any advice on what I should do here would be great. Of note, I don’t know how to solder. Thanks VGS!

I am about to lose a bunch of money

It's the shipping. $5 plus $5 in shipping will never sell. $10 with free shipping will sell. People have the Amazon Prime mentality. Shipping better be free, and it better be here in under 48 hours. -

I ignored 1 person on the site. So far. In my comment, there’s a delineation between different types of people in this market… But I’ll put it this way. If I had the ability to unseal every video game out there, I would do it immediately. I’d be stealth like Tom Clancy, COD Warzone dead silence, Halo cloak, a master thief, all in one. Just cracking VGA and Wata cases as sweat poured off my brow. I’d be ripping cellophane and plastic like piranhas eat. I’d need a respirator just to make sure I didn’t inhale any bits of seals as they gently floated back to the ground. The only reason seals matter in this hobby is because THESE GAMES ARE SO MASSED PRODUCED THAT THE CROSS MATCHING OF COMPONENTS MAKES GRADING CIB A COMPARATIVE NIGHTMARE. That’s it. Cards, coins, comics are all 1 component products that do not come in a protective layer. The actual item you’d play, a CIB game, has a minimum of 3, adding a huge variance to a grade. The seal that by definition is required for the sealed games market, adds absolutely 0 to the game itself, the box art, the manual, or gameplay. If someone wants to argue that CIB would just skyrocket in place of sealed, then I’ll relent. Until CIB massed produced games are hitting $100K+, I’ll continue to poke fun at people focused on cellophane and plastic. -

This entire video game boom just seems like a bunch of 40 to 70 year old sweats with a buncha money that have ran out of comics and coins to fetishize and have switched to games. This pop report should only help their efforts of speculation, FOMO, and profit. Once the video game river is dry, it'll be VHS, then DVDs. "I hAvE tHe OnLy 9.8 A++ Toy Story 2" -

Millions of Americans Quit Their Jobs... BUT
broncofantd793 replied to avatar!'s topic in Everything Else
I'm certainly no genius. But if something hasn't worked in 50+ years, (looking at you taxes, healthcare, education, trickle down economics, etc.) why not switch it up and trying something different? We're like a guy that can't figure out why his head is hurting as he hits himself in the head with a hammer. -
I went from super hyped for this to out. NSO does not offer 1/10th of the features that are standard from its competitors. The $30 difference is to catch the reminiscing 30 something year old with kids that would like to show the kids Mario Kart but doesn't want to or can't pay $100 for a system, another $90 for 3 additional controllers, $40 for Mario Kart, and another $40 to $80 for a couple more games. The expansion pak is not directed at us. Nintendo saw those NES and SNES CIB and Sealed prices, then looked at their $20 plan, then back at the prices, then back at their plan and went, "We priced that entirely too low." I don't agree because the overall service is subpar, but money is money. The base membership is going to get a price jump at some point. The consumer will eventually be retroactively paying for all the NES and SNES content.

Again, not focusing on the money. We're focusing on ethics. I chose toothpicks as the simplest item I could think of to highlight the behavior of the individuals. I could've built my example around real estate, cards, swampland, stamps, etc. I went bare bones to flush it out. For fun though, are all toothpicks in identical condition? I would think not, especially after use. We're just on opposite ends of this. To be fair, I'm going to come to Jone's defense a tiny bit here. There's different niche collecting circles within video games. Jone has a comparatively large number of sealed and/or graded games compared to most of us. My assumption is some of those were probably pretty expensive. Is he supposed to sit at home and hope all of his games are now worthless? He has an interest in WATA/HA that most of us do not have. Would any of you not defend your point of view if you were him? Remember his position. -

He "wanted the hobby to grow" much like for profit colleges wanted to "educate." There's no shame in being after money, just don't be unethical or holier than thou about it. THE MARKET USING WATA AND HERITAGE TO CREATE VALUE IS THE EXACT PROBLEM WE'RE COMPLAINING ABOUT. Those of us that are "not in the know" don't care about the value, we care about the ethics. Here's an example. John starts a company around toothpicks. The company focuses on making sure the toothpicks are real wood and not some other dental material. John's goal is to one day sell his company, much like any business. John goes to Todd to help sell his "authenticated" toothpicks. Todd starts his relationship with a brand new company by paying a huge amount of money for one of John's toothpicks. John makes media appearances touting the legitimacy of his toothpicks, thanks to Todd's sale price. People with no knowledge of toothpicks but that are very bored with their other hobbies, start buying toothpicks. If Todd got such a good deal on his toothpick, then these people need toothpicks too! ......... Need I go on here? This whole thing is one big money grab wrapped up in a huge serving of FOMO. -

There’s too many Diddy’s. I sold a big blue eyed with my extra cart. I stopped keeping track. I’m still not doing the talking. Still on the hunt for the 3 midsized I need, and a good open mouth Mario. It’s the same 6 for me. I don’t think I’ve added much in the past 6 months. -
