  1. The offer is a fact but its a bit complicated. IIRC the offer was a high grade 52 Mantle in trade - that 52 mantle being worth, and having recently been purchased for, that 250-300 range. So its a legit offer but was trade not cash. That said, high quality trade that could easily be liquidated into cash, so its near cash. 52 mantle might be the hottest baseball card on the market. That's as much as I recall anyways. I might not have the whole story.
  2. Yeah absolutely. I didn’t own a NES growing up. I had a friend of Japanese decent that owned a famicom and so I played gradius on a famicom before I even knew what a NES was and it totally blew me away. It’s all I wanted to play at his house. Another friend had a NES a little later, and he owned Tyson, excitebike, castlevania, Zelda And probably some others. as a result those were some of the first titles I chased down and yes they very much remind me of that time.
  3. I see the humblebrag part flew over your head
  4. Good win, congrats! One of the best buys in the auction I think. Contra was mental. I’ll have settle for my vga 90 and the cover art. (I don’t always humblebrag, but when I do I try to make it count lol)
  5. There are no high starting bids. Not sure what the confusion is there but they start low
  6. They are completely different markets. An HT Mario if any description is a rare piece but an opened one isn’t. the value of yours would depend on condition but likely much less than 10% if an average copy.
  7. What he bought was a sixth print, great condition, eBay, $30,000
  8. Not to be all I told you so, but I was saying this 15 years ago. A loose cart is only ever going to be so collectible and if people are playing only for play value, that's not going to last.
  9. Taboo is super low end yeah . Still a cover though. Barely lol.
  10. I mean, I’m telling you there’s hard evidence and I’m sure wata would corroborate what I told you. What more do you need? There are several different variations of dk math boxes tied to production date. If we are thinking they were only made at one point in time, that isn’t right. I guess it’s possible the chips were made all at once, but the boxes definitely changed over time. If what you’re telling me is that the chips all say mid 86 to me that implies they made the chips all at once and then created boxes every time they sent out a shipment. In other words, initial store orders weren’t enough to exhaust the chip supply on a single shipment. Not hard to imagine since orders were low. at the end of the day, to me me the real production date is not when the chips are made but when the game and paperwork are assembled. If there are chips sitting around in a bin but no boxes to put them into, the product is not completely finished yet
  11. My old sealed sticker dk math was found by wata (x-ray?) to contain a 3 screw cart, and be a slightly later revision of the box which makes no sense but nonetheless so it was. There had to be some made with leftover parts such as that copy.
  12. I’ll take my chances compared to used where I know the innards are beat up most of the time
  13. That’s a cool video and I remember it well. Obviously I meant since it left the factory.
  14. It is a small issue yes. And to give you an example on the above, say you have two collections from new york. You call one 'new york' and one ' big apple'. there's lot of ways around it.
  15. Prime: Kenneth’s background is coins and as I understand it there is no requirement in coins that it be anything other than a notable collection for any reason. They are taking that approach or if you look at it from a comics POV melding the ‘collection of’ and ‘pedigree’ concepts into a single concept
  16. I think that happens automatically on the site when there is a reserve . Same thing on heritage. They show the star also. The vast majority of lots have no reserve . A couple days before auctions end if the reserve is not met it gets bid up to one increment under so that the reserve is revealed. Basically if you see a star then discount the bid history. Im pretty sure this is all spelled out in the standard auction terms.
