In case anyone cares, I beat Final Fantasy II (US) for the first time today. I think I'll work on a fun Koei game next. Liberty or Death, as the British, of course

AD&D Eye of the Beholder is done. The first pic has the titular eye (and its stem): I'm playing some SNES RPGs that have already been beat, so you won't hear from me again here for at least a couple of months

It was for the 2020 competition, and I vowed never to play it again I think it will be hard to get a 100 score without marrying the "best" wife. I used the FAQ, which was extremely detailed and laid out what you need to accomplish to get the highest rank.

Root laid off 20% of its employees after I wrote this on Wednesday, and the stock went down another 17% on Friday. I wouldn't recommend buying it since nothing has changed about its fundamentals. Their 4Q combined ratio will be interesting to see.

Both the 17 and 50 give the same ending screen. As long as you're playing it, may as well man up and conquer all of Japan though Regarding the other winning conditions, I think it was generally understood that the various scenarios all give the same ending screen so no one felt a need to explicitly point it out before.

It's been real quiet here. Insurtechs have been eating a big dick over the last year, mainly because people are realizing their business models, for the most part, don't make any sense. ROOT is in the $3 territory, Lemonade has cratered, and MILE is even worse. I was thinking about shorting ROOT for a while but waited too long.

The winning condition for Wordtris is "Complete Level J," but according to the manual, Level J continues forever until you either lose, abort, or run out of time if there is a timer. So this should be a completion right?

Sim Ant is done SIM ANT IS DONE Ok, here's the secret to beating the full game in a couple of hours. Your instinct is to destroy the red ant colony in the same starting square as you, but do NOT do that. In fact, do everything you can to keep it alive while also not getting to 100 population (and starting mating flights). That usually means doing Recruit All and hanging out on a corner of the map while you wait for the red ant population to build back up to around 40 or so. If it gets to 60, then start making more aggressive moves in terms of grabbing food to keep the red ants in check. While you're doing that, focus on allocating enough breeding ants in order to both get the pop above 100 also with 20 winged ants, so mating flights will begin. Once that happens, you can sit back for a few hours and wait for your newly spawned colonies to take over all the empty squares. Then you can kill the red ant colony in the starting square and, finally, the other red colony that pops up. If you kill the first red ant colony, another one will form and will RAPIDLY take over all empty space. Then I assume you need to fight it square by square. Just reset if this happens. You want that second red colony to form only when you've already taken over the map.

It looks like we ran out of steam in December instead of the normal holiday time rally. There are also a lot more contests popping up, so the collective effort of the community is more and more diluted every year.

I'm going to play Sim Ant. I had it on the PC when I was a kid, and i think I enjoyed it then.

L'Empereur is done, and saved from being in the last 10. That's all for me this year.

All right I beat Bill and Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure again. It still sucks ass. I will start on L'Empereur and that's my last game for the year. Hopefully someone out there has the competence and patience to finish Motor City Patrol

Ugh. I put about 20 hours into Motor City Patrol and just rage quit after losing on Stage 4. Sorry, I don't think I'm up to this one. I can definitely do L'Empereur and Bill & Ted, but that's it for me this year.

Right at the beginning of the game, there's a cutscene, and I think either Oda is hurt or not, and that later determines whether the wizard dude shows up. I guess the easy ending is just Oda?

Motor City Patrol is really going to be a lot harder than I expected. I'll keep at it this week. If I'm going to have to bail, I'll let you all know next weekend. I'm not getting much better at the driving and made it to the 3rd stage a few times before crapping out.

Well, yeah, I can believe that, actually. The rollout of Salk's Cutter vaccine in 1955 was arguably the greatest medical disaster of the 20th century, so much so that another polio vaccine wasn't widely available until Sabin's in 1961. The miracle vaccine that protected almost the entire world from polio was from Sabin's team's, not Salk's. I say "almost" because, unbelievably, there are still areas in the Muslim world that believe the polio vaccine is a great conspiracy to sterilize Muslims. "PS: Mr Salk, who invented the vaccine insisted that it be given out for free." Salk didn't release it because he was some great humanitarian; he did so to help rehabilitate his reputation and because it was financially worthless. And it worked - Jonas Salk is a household name, and Albert Sabin is known by very few people nowadays.

Congrats! Inindo is really fun, but very long. Did you end up with the magician ending or the Oda ending? I may have to play it again soon. Based on your username, you must be a fellow Koei fan
