Man, I wish I'd have listened to my neighbor and bought Mortal Kombat instead of Izzy's Quest for the Olympic Rings. lol Curiosity got me on that one. I was in a pawn shop, it was cheap, and I decided to gamble on the unknown. -

I quit playing it almost immediately as a kid. Those damn dogs. lol It's one that I wish I had found in my teens so that I'd have the proper mentality to take on, as well as the spare time to sink into it. After playing Metal Gear Solid on PS1, it kinda ruined me for the NES MG games. -

Can you imagine trying to return a game for a similar reason in this day/age? lol -

Glad to see I'm not the only one, you came up with that list pretty quick. lol Some of the games you mentioned would make my list too! 3. Contra - I didn't actually get to play this game until High School, and it was at a friend named Sean's house 5. Tekken 1 & 2 - My neighbor growing up had the tekken games. Played tekken 2 until we had blisters lol 8. Sonic 2, 3, Sonic & Knuckles and Virtual Bart - Genesis was a complete mystery to me growing up. The only time I got to play it was at a family friend's house that we only went to at Christmas time. That's when I got to play the Sonics as well as Street Fight 2 Champion Edition. I thought it was so cool that it had more characters than my SF2 for SNES. -
As the years keep coming, I find that I can still remember which games in my collection have been with me since childhood. Or even if I've let some go along the way, I still remember owning them in my youth. (I think that's pretty common among everyone here) What I've also noticed, is that I can remember games that my friends had that I didn't. Some are lifelong friends that I keep in touch with, and some I haven't spoken to since elementary school. For example, I can still remember that my first time playing Bomberman on NES was at a kid named Chris' house in 3rd grade. And that he also had Paperboy, Excitebike, and Faxanadu. I haven't seen him since 5th grade. And it's not just one or 2 of my friends that I can remember having certain games, it's the majority. Those titles reminded me of the good times had with those friends, so I found myself gravitating towards those games when I first started collecting. I get a kick out of having friends over and them saying "Wow, I had this game." Then, rather than saying "Yeah, I know.", I just smile and say, "Let's play it." So how about you all? Do you remember the games that your friends had growing up? And did nostalgia drive you to pick them up? What games stood out to you?

I have one and enjoy it, I only have a modest few games though. Die Hard Arcade, Vitua Cop, Area 51, Knights, and a couple others. What do I need to add to my backlog?

That game looks great!

Anyone else feel this is better than NintendoAge?

For those that miss the old transaction system on NA, fear not. Something even better is in the works for Sage. (And I'm not a GoCollect rep, so you can trust me when I say that) -

I expected a rep from Heritage or GoCollect Jeff, tbh. Having a Wata guy look at a Wata game is redundant... At least milk the collusion for what it's worth. -
@BouncekDeLemos ye ole deadline approaches

Do it!

Alright guys and gals, the submissions have seemed to taper off. In light of this, we'll be placing a hard deadline on the contest. Sunday December 1st @ noon EST will be the official cut-off

Pawn Stars is just a less authentic Antiques Road Show.... -
In addition to what you said, they also botched the timing between Freddy and the band splitting up, Freddy contracting Aids, and the Live Aid performance. I guess they just wanted to make it seem more dramatic by making it coincide in the film, but it's not historically accurate. And it kinda bugged me that Brian May and Roger Taylor would sign off on it being written that way for the screenplay... From Rolling Stone Mag: The group never split up. The movie veers the furthest from reality in the build-up to their 1985 performance at Live Aid. There’s a dramatic scene where Freddie reveals that he’s signed a solo deal behind their back for $4 million and that he wants to take a long break from the band. The others are absolutely livid and they all go their separate ways. The truth is that everyone in the band was burned out in 1983 after being on the road for a solid decade. They all wanted a break. The movie makes it seem like they didn’t speak to Freddie for years, but they actually began work on The Works in late 1983 and were never estranged. Live Aid wasn’t a reunion. In the movie, the group isn’t even on speaking terms when they get the offer to play Live Aid in 1985, and they hadn’t done a gig in years. It never mentions that they released The Works in early 1984 and then toured it all over the world. The last show of the tour was just eight weeks before Live Aid. They were extremely well-rehearsed by the time that show hit, but the movie shows them having to make peace with each other and get back into playing shape. It makes the performance more dramatic, but that’s not how it happened. Freddie didn’t learn he was HIV-positive before Live Aid. During rehearsals for Live Aid in the movie, Freddie reveals to the band that he is HIV-positive, but he wants to keep the news completely private and focus all his attention on music. The exact time that Mercury learned he had the disease remains somewhat under dispute, but nearly everyone pins it as occurring sometime between 1986 and 1987. He almost certainly had no clue when the group was rehearsing for Live Aid.

You know. The guy in the mirror.

OP, don't let this @zi character fool you. He's the one you want. He could whip up a NA 2.0 complete with high res database in a heartbeat. (and provide a sexy chiptune soundtrack to go with it) He just chooses not to.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels strongly about this. I hesitated to post it because I thought it would seem nit-picky. lol

If I can get through all the work I need to get done today, I'll come back and add my timeline. Great topic idea!

Does the name Video Game Sage come from Video Games Age?

I have no idea what you're talking aboot -
I'd like to see an option to scroll through the entire text of a given scene rather than the text appear in separate blocks that you cycle through (if that makes sense) Makes it feel more like a book, than: read a block, click button, read a block, click button, and so on.
