  1. Probably the best video game adaptation of a Robert Louis Stevenson novel ever. Probably.
  2. 4 was my first, and has always been my favorite.
  3. For me, personally, the idea that they're just for kids isn't what kept me away. That kind of thing doesn't usually bother me, or at least it doesn't prevent me from trying a game out. It just happened that Pokemon came out at a time when I was not really messing with the GameBoy anymore. When the next batch arrived, I was in college and not spending a whole lot of time with video games. I was pretty late to the party with the DS, and by now my backlog is so huge that Pokemon, even though I am curious about it, is just one of many franchises I have yet to experience. It's on the list, but y'all know how that goes.
  4. Had a similar experience as others here, I guess. Absolutely loved Warcraft II and got III when it was pretty new. I don't remember disliking it, but I just never ended up spending a lot of time with it. I did happen to come at a time when I wasn't spending so much time playing video games any more, so there's that.
  5. Completely forgot to post that I beat Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction last month. This was my first time playing it and I thought it would was a lot of fun. Basically it's like GTA, but set in a war-torn country where you have access to military weapons and vehicles. There's 4 factions you can play sides with and get missions from, and the rest of the time you pretty much get free reign to just go crazy blowing up whatever you want. It really lives up to it's name, Playground of Destruction. I will say that, while the PS2 version plays perfectly fine, I've discovered that the Xbox is definitely the better way to experience the game, as it runs smoother, has shorter load times, has a better overall picture, and supports widescreen.
  6. I do. Yes, I know I'm in the minority on this, but it's true. I feel like the level design took a hit with the third game. Levels felt less like places I wanted to explore and more like just a bunch of set pieces tied together. I think there's several parts that get repeated throughout each level. Maybe I'm misremembering because 3 & Knuckles are the ones I've spent the least amount of time with (I have completed it though), but that's what I recall feeling when I played it. I also think the visuals looked a bit less colorful than the first two games and I honestly don't like the music quite as much as the first two games (sorry, MJ). I never liked that I needed to get two cartridges to get the full game, although I do like the save feature. Ultimately, I feel like Sonic 3 took one step forward and a couple steps back at the same time. I don't dislike the game, but #1 and #2 are always going to be my favorites.
  7. Best Mario game of all time. Almost as good as Sonic 2. 10/10
  8. Guys, when you're going fast, press Down on the D-pad. Sonic will roll into a ball and enemies will not hit you and ruin your momentum. In fact, you'll just plow right through them. Problem solved. Enjoy the game!
  9. Not fair at all. Controlling Sonic is infinitely more intuitive and manageable than controlling Kid Kool. Level design is far better in Sonic as well, and designed perfectly according to Sonic's abilities. Kid Kool is just crap. This is like saying, "If you really believe Zelda is great game design, just go play Hydlide and tell me what you think!"
  10. I'm going to riot if Sonic 2 does not win. Sonic 1 got knocked out in the first round and I've been on edge ever since ಠ_ಠ
  11. Whoa, wait, what? I always found Hyperstone Heist WAY easier than Turtles in Time, mainly because the bosses are all super easy, even on the hardest difficulty. Just attack four times, jump out of the way, repeat. The bosses in Turtles in Time usually takes a little bit more strategy than that.
  12. Cool. I had volume 2 and 4 (I think) as a kid. Invaluable for beating Castlevania II back then.
  13. I agree with this, considering how badly they dumbed down the difficulty. Still, it's the perfect game for those times when I want to just turn my brain off and mash the A button for 45 minutes.
  14. Also The Lone Ranger, of course, features "The William Tell Overture" by Rossini
  15. Road Runner on NES has a bunch: "William Tell Overture" by Rossini "Flight Of The Bumblebee" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov "Sabre Dance" by Aram Khachaturian "Russian Dance" by Tchaikovsky They all seem to be played at double speed, I think.
  16. I've been trying for years to figure out what gets people excited about Toejam & Earl. But, I'm discovering that's how many people feel about Ecco the Dolphin.
  17. Super Mario Bros. immediately comes to mind.
  18. Ok, this is one of those games I often see being regarded as a classic, but I just never could get into it. I've been kind of surprised actually, recently revisiting many old NES games I missed out on, to realize just how janky many of Capcom's games were. The grappling hook mechanic never bothered me much, although it obviously takes a bit to get used to. The game just never clicked with me. I spent a lot of time with the GameBoy Color remake as well back when it was new and, try as I might, just couldn't get any enjoyment out of it either. 5/10 Never played Rearmed.
  19. Yes lol I've been playing through Quake, actually, on the PS4. This is the first time I've played Quake past the first episode and I'm loving it. I usually try to go for all the trophies when I can. Will probably take some time to finish this one, but I'm definitely having fun doing it.
  20. Ah cool, I didn't know about this. Gonna need to get this one eventually. I used to love Dark Forces. Damn, why is my PS4 filled with nothing but '90s games?!
