  1. To my knowledge Po-kay-mon is how it is supposed to be pronounced (like the food poké), so I try to say it that way, but growing up I mostly called it Po-kuh-mon
  2. Gold Golf disk https://www.ebay.com/itm/404786456182 Edit: High price, but cool to see
  3. It's back up as BIN. Maybe the person who won didn't pay up? https://www.ebay.com/itm/176227816553
  4. Gotta hide their existence to keep the prices low
  5. It's the Show Off board, I feel like members having their own threads isn't strange at all. What's the worst that can happen, the people who are into different stuff than you won't read your posts? You could even argue it is courteous if you are making a long post
  6. Recently tried using one of these. It's a capture card for Gameboy. Just plug it in and select it on OBS and you can capture video/view gameplay on your computer. The screen on my Gameboy Pocket died, so this is a nice alternative. I didn't notice much in the way of a delay so I think it is usable for gameplay. One issue is that the cartridge sort of blocks the power switch, so if you have large fingers, you might need to use something to push the switch
  7. New pickups: The GBC/GBA stuff came from Malaysia, the rest of the stuff is freebies @fcgamer sent me (Thanks dude) Some info on the games Powermon: A 2.5D platformer game for Windows. Most copies of this seem to pop up in South Korea, though I'm not sure where the original version was made. To my knowledge there are three Powermon games, though recently I saw something labeled Powermon Plus, so maybe there are more? Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Rings: One of the rarer Makon Soft titles. On top of that it appears on very few multicarts. It is sort of a hybrid of their older titles instead of being just a reskin Rockman and Crystal: The final Zook Hero game made by Vast Fame. My old cart for this is faulty, so I picked up a replacement. I remember back when bootleg game collectors thought very highly of this one, though I think overtime people realized it isn't as good as the other Zook games. VF was new to making GBA games and appear to have made this one run too fast Terrifying 9/11: No comment An infamous port of Metal Slug developed in Mainland China by Ruanxin and published by Hitek (pronounced High Tech judging by their Chinese name, 高科) in 2002. The port is very well done in terms of gameplay and animations. There was a rumor/hoax going around for a while that it was built off of a leaked prototype by SNK, but this is false, Ruanxin genuinely was a talented team. I think it should be obvious why this game is infamous. They even managed to pull of an FMV sequence of one of the planes as the intro, something very uncommon for GBC games. In Mainland China it was released as 驚爆雙子星 and in Taiwan it was released as 驚爆 911, though original copies of either Chinese version are extremely hard to come by. The English version is mostly found in Spain, though it can be found in other locations as well
  8. It's been a while since I've seen some of these so I might be misremembering which ones I have and have not watched. I remember liking them, but a decent chunk are kids movies, so maybe I wouldn't like them as much if I re-watched them
  9. I was browsing for some info on this on google images and came across a couple of listings for it. I picked one up but figured I'd share the other one here. (To buy internationally you'll need to use their agent service, Delivered Korea) https://globalbunjang.com/product/247123631 It's a Super Comboy multicart with NES games modified to work on SNES, alongside a strange Christmas themed Tetris clone. This was made a good deal before Project Nested existed, so the games run a little funny (based on videos I've seen, my cart hasn't arrived yet)
  10. Not sure about the price, but this is kinda neat. It's a vintage multicart for PCE, which are pretty uncommon https://www.ebay.com/itm/116047016479
  11. That clone is pretty cool. The family tree is a little hard to follow for Gameboy clones, but I think that one is loosely related to the super early ones from the early 90s. Also it was made by the official publisher for Vast Fame in Mainland China
  12. Castlevania DX by Sintax. One of the most intricate bootleg/unlicensed games the GBC has to offer. I put off trying it for a long time since all the text is in Chinese, but I barely read the text in games anymore, so that stopped being an issue for me Here's a playthrough of it recorded by TamerKoh for anyone curious
  13. Ah. I should've been more clear in my previous post, Twin Eagles Groups specifically made hacks to put on pirate carts, they weren't making hacks that other people did repros of
  14. For bootlegs/hacks off the top of my head there was a hack of ISS64 by Twin eagles Group, and there was a multicart that has some NES games on it. Other than that I don't think the N64 had much of note in terms of that sort of stuff
  15. On second thought maybe I could come up with something worse than that. I've played quite a few broken bootleg games. I still think that Platinum was my least favorite memorable game that I took the time to play all the way through
  16. I picked these up off of a website called japanspelshop.se (I think it is run by a user on Famicom World). It was a listing for six floppy disks and a USB floppy drive. I've been meaning to get a USB floppy drive, so it made sense to me. The disks have some Korean MSX games (which back in the day were very infringing, three of these are ports of Mario games). I don't think original copies of these games were sold on floppy disks, so I'm guessing some fan wrote these sometime down the line. I didn't see any other floppy disks on the website, so I'm guessing the seller got these second hand
  17. I remember from last year there was a cool thread where @RegularGuyGamer asked what everyone's favorite find of 2022 was. I figured I'd go ahead and ask the same question for 2023 What was your favorite find of 2023? Also to spice things up: What was your favorite item that another VGS user found in 2023?
  18. For systems with smaller libraries that only have one or two "grails" I'd be tempted to go for a full set if I got my hands on one of those. I don't think I'd ever try to full set something with a large library. I think I'd get too attached and would wind up expanding my definition of a full set over and over without ever moving on
  19. I don't collect vinyl records, but I did once find something similar. While visiting family I encountered a small vintage goods store and they had a CED Player and a stack of 19 discs for sale. These are supposed to work with a needle and grooves similar to a vinyl record, but they play movies instead Here's the wikipedia page for them if you want to read more I sadly never figured out how to make it work
  20. 50 GBC. Some of these are dual mode if that changes things. Sorry for the grainy images
