  1. Thank you so much for the kind words, T-Pac I used to make all kids of ridiculous 5 minute MS Paint drawings for a few laughs on N-G.com, and am a sometimes contributor on Yokoi Kids (it's been a number of months since I submitted something though), but all in all, I don't do any of it for money anymore and just for a few laughs. Maybe I'll post a thing or two at some point for fun As for the jingle, I met Chris on N-G.com 13 years ago, and I've been rockin' with him ever since he started his channel. So, when the boys put out the call for a tune to the 'Does It Slap / Should We Yeet It?' segment, I thought that would be a fun thing to contribute. That said, I'm pretty behind on episodes due to work in the past 5 months, so I haven't seen any episodes since they played mine. I'm not sure if they are even using mine now (Chris sort of apologized in the episode they ran it with a call out to 'Shayne, long time friend of the show', lol), but it was the second one they played - the low-key jazzy arrangement, not the the really update one - so it may not be the one you're familiar with. My brother mastered the track, but bless him, he tried his best but it's way too low, so it wouldn't surprise me if they used it once and never again. I've really got to go back and get caught up on the episodes
  2. Good question! I really enjoy 3 and feel it offers more challenge. 5, which has interesting levels even though it is REALLY easy. 8 is probably my favourite of the classics and stacks up for me as one of the best overall. 11 is rock solid throughout and a joy to play. X4 is consistent albeit way too easy (but really fun), and I like X5 minus the scaling system that makes the Mavericks a joke for a good chunk of the game. I haven't put in much time with 9 & 10 to be able to speak on them much, but I really enjoy all the games in both the original and X series' (outside of X6 - X8). However, in the same vein of what you mentioned regarding late game X1, there are various balancing, pacing, and creativity issues that drop the rest below MM2 for me
  3. I a vacuum, 2 is a great game, but there are a number of of other Mega Man games I'd put over it when considering the series as a whole, and as such, kind of gets lost in the shuffle of the series. A solid 8/10, but the game is too easy for me to want to go back to it often considering the stages aren't as interesting to run through (for example, X is easy, but the stages are more interesting IMO).
  4. Just in time for the weekend, the J-Saturn odyssey continues! This time, it's particularly special because @Brickman hooked me up with beautiful copies of Cotton 2 and Sonic Wings Special! Brickman was gracious enough to reach out with some offers to help me along on this Saturn journey, which I greatly appreciate I'm planning to play some of the games on my list this weekend to try to start catching up on the Backlog Challenge, but I'll be sneaking in some shoot 'em up sessions for sure Have a wonderful weekend, everybody!
  5. A bit late with this one (I got it at launch but wasn't going to post the one item), but I was lucky enough to get a Tears of the Kingdom CE at retail and one for my sister. In the weeks leading up to the release, I decided to finally play Breath of the Wild and beat that one, but in doing so, made myself 'Zelda'd out', so it might be a while before I get to this new one, lol. I got SFVI at launch too and ordered the steelbook (I was really annoyed the CE didn't come with one) and have been playing it pretty consistently; I LOVE the career mode and going around Metro City...it's actually rather addictive tbh. The FFXVI showed up and I dropped everything to play that. It took me about a week, but I beat it a little bit ago and I loved the game...it really renewed my faith in the franchise. I'm going to let it breath before I dive in for a second time with New Game +. Then, last Friday, four games showed up from VGP: I had to get the RXR HD Collection, Gal Guardians looked like an awesome Castlevania inspired title with clever mechanics, Shikhondo seems like an interesting shooter, and Front Mission...well, is Front Mission which is awesome (very excited to fire this up!). Working on some more imports next, and one bigger (but obscure) SNES title, so until then, I hope everyone finds what they're looking for!
  6. I thought this was just me! It's somewhat comforting to know I'm not the only one who feels nauseous trying to play certain games like the Infamous titles.
  7. It's been a minute, but I was just slowly accumulating stuff at Tenso and the package showed up today! I managed to source out some fantastic deals on a few of the last PCE CD games on my list (Download 2 was particularly elusive for me at a nice price) and Zero WIng was a 'right place, right time' affair for cheeeeeap. I'm looking forward to getting my ass kicked in these 3 (k, maybe not L-Dis, that should be at my level). The Sega Saturn import odyssey continues with another three. It was surprisingly difficult to source a complete (obi + insert/advert) copy of X3 and at a lower price point, but my patience paid off. I'm excited to play Sol Divide, and I am really intrigued by everything I've seen about Pu-Li-Ru-La. I managed to get it on the cheap by scoring the obi by itself, so all inserts + obi resulted in about 40% less then what I've been seeing it go for. Lastly, I finally found a beautiful copy of Violinist of Hamelin! Really happy to add this super fun game into the mix With regards to Gunner's Heaven, I'd seen some game play on it from a couple of different sources recently by happenstance, and it looked like my cup of tea, but finding it complete at a nice price was a challenge; again, patience won the day. Then there's Radirgy. I've had my eyes on this one for a while, but it proved to be a tough game to track down. Then, as luck would have it, I came across a copy (finally) by chance that was mislabelled and got it for $150 CAD in pristine condition. That was pretty awesome, and I've been looking forward to playing this on GC for a long time. That's all the retro for me for a bit. Thanks, and I hope you all keep finding cool stuff!
  8. @BrickmanThat is a dope looking set, Brick! Sets don't normally do anything for me, but this one looks awesome and has a ton of character. I'm very much looking forward to you putting together a guide for this...>_>
  9. A box protector with UV cut is the way I'd go and keeps the game original if that holds any importance to you.
  10. Let this be a cautionary tale for all those who groan about going to the 'in-laws'
  11. Reps, that's all. I've come to get a sense of the timing between necessary jumps and things like that. I can see the levels in my head so clearly, I know what I get out of every button press, things like that. It started as a fluke when I'd play alone while trying to challenge myself, but once I kinda did it a few times, I put effort into trying to get better at it. i got the idea from watching a video of a guy at a convention do it in Punch Out.
  12. I rarely give a 10, but the premise and execution in this film resonate with me in a way that other separates it from other movies that are 'just entertainment' for me.
  13. Thank you so much I think it came up once but, I was like, "yeah, I messed that up", so there was no 'gatcha!' moment
  14. You know, I really love the recent Blacksmith set! I was tempted to buy a few of them and make a small town diorama, but I want to get the new anniversary castle set...it's just-so-expensivvvvve...
  15. Thanks, guys! I think you've probably gathered what I like by this point, eh @Brickman I'll definitely check out those suggestions. @MegaMan52, this was a motivating factor in seeking out the collection, but then to get the big box version w/the cable for $15 CAD was the icing.
  16. Just in time for what I expect to be a low-key weekend, the latest box from Japan and a book from Kickstarter (cool to see Miamislice backed it too!) showed up! For a while now, I've wanted to get The Firemen, and a sweet deal popped up for a fully complete copy so i finally pulled the trigger. Around the same time, I saw a video about Gamecube games with titles I didn't know about that looked really cool, and I managed to score a sealed copy of Kururin Squash for next to nothing (I don't care about the sealed part, but the price was great). I also wasn't aware that Nintendo released a GC compilation of some of my favourite puzzle games along with a GBA-to-GC Link Cable, and for $15, it was a no-brainer for me, As things quiet down on the Saturn front, I found copies of a couple of the last disc based PC Engine games I'm after for nice prices complete w/obi; PCE games look awesome with the obis! Other than that, my son was asking about the Sengoku Basara bluray he saw downstairs, and it got me reminiscing about X. I used to have the System 246 arcade hardware which I bought just to play Sengoku Basara X, but it was such a pain to deal with that I sold it. I looked online to see if it was arcade only, and to my surprise (and joy), it was release on PS2 in Japan. i found there was a collector's version, so i got that for next to nothing since the game is so cheap. I'm looking forward to some 1 v 1 goodness with my son this weekend And lastly, the Saturn odyssey continues with another batch of great games. i finally found copies of Deza 2, Strikers II, and Salamander Deluxe, and finally pulled the trigger on Keio Flying Squadron 2 as well as the last Parodius game I was missing for Saturn. That Howard Philips book dropped in from the KS campaign so I'm really looking forward to going through that when I have some time. So that's it for another week, and likely for a little while other than Tears of the Kingdom CE which should show up next week. i have so much (games and other things) to keep me busy, so that's fine by me i hope everyone has a great weekend!
  17. I'm in the process of rehabing a herniated disc (it's been a few months now) and my wife has been off due to PTSD and is on her own recovery path...long gaming sessions have just fallen by the wayside. I've had a 'slow burn' play through of Octopath Traveller on the go for months now and have played a little here and there of some of the new stuff that's been coming in, but that's about it. I was so amped for RE4 Remake, and I haven't even gotten through the opening village fight yet *sigh*, let alone all the RPGs I thought I'd get to. It's been a rough year so far, so I don't know about this year's list It sucks when you love games but can't sit for very long...
  18. Nice! I've been waiting for another one of these 'Get to know...' interviews; they are always fun reads and - over the past few weeks - I've found myself wondering when another would come Thanks @Reed Rothchild & @Tabonga!
  19. Just in time for the weekend, I made a trip to GS for Advanced Wars and two packages showed up: one from VGP, and the other from my box in the US! Finally, Mega Man Battle Network collection is in my hands, and I've been very curious about the Bayonetta Origins game. My sister ordered copies of the Tales of Symphonia remaster w/steelbook for herself, my brother and I, and the Octopath Traveller II special edition from the SE shop has been something I've really been looking forward to as I'm currently 50 hours into the first game; that Octopath cover is absolutely gorgeous!!! At long last - it only took them from December until now even though the were in stock at the time of order - the 'Works' books arrived! I'm looking forward to reading these; the Game Boy books are awesome, so I'm expecting these will follow suit. ...and then the one that I thought had gotten away: the first issue of the Shiro fanzine! Somehow, I'd missed that the Shiro crew had these available at PRGE in the Saturn Lounge they'd set up, but I was listening to their podcast recently and found out they still had a small number of issues left. As a big Saturn fan, I'm very excited to read through this mag; the articles look really fun! And that's it for now. Thanks, and have a great weekend everyone!
  20. I rarely eat this kind of stuff, but when I do... Candy: None, I don't care for candy Chocolate: After Eight, Mint Aero Frozen: President's Choice 'Loads of Chocolatey Mint Treats' flavour Baked: Lemon fill donut, mint brownie Potato Chips: Fire Chip (Tomahawk Chips *First Nations chip company*), low salt Regular Ruffles w/Dill Pickle dip Drinks: Coke Zero I'm a bit of a mint fan...>_>
  21. I got a couple packages in the mail yesterday: 1 from Japan, the other from VGP; the Saturn odyssey continues! Crisis Wing finally released and showed up, my wife and I thought Let's Play Curling looked like a riot (and helping support the Japanese and Canadian curling associations is the right thing to do ) and there is a $10 off promo right now on VGP, I had no idea Ishin! had already come out, but VGP had a SEGA sale going on, so all Sega titles were like $30 off! Resident Evil 4 remake is amazing and a game I've been eagerly awaiting for some time now. As for the things from Japan, I recently found out about this Hudson Shooting Collection for SFC and managed to find a minty complete copy for about 4000 yen, and the same ended up happening for this special edition of Game Tengoku! Since my wife found a VCR recently, I'm looking forward to having a laugh at the VHS it comes packed with. Then, more Parodius love, Twinbee deluxe pack, and Assault Suit Leynos 2 which I'm looking forward to as a fan of the original and Cybernator. These were the two games that are particularly special to me. It took a long time for me to find a mint and fully complete Rockman 8, so I am OVER THE MOON to have gotten this. I've had the North American copies on Saturn and Playstation for years, but I love this game and really wanted to get the Japanese version. *Quick aside: While most tend to have MM2 or 3 at the top of their Mega Man list, for me it's 8, 11, then Rockman & Forte.* Then there's the D&D pack. I've been trying to find the RAM pack version for ages, and then about a week ago, this copy came up; it may be difficult to tell because I've left the wrap job on, but there's no box damage whatsoever and it's fully complete. My wife and I are really excited to play these D&D games this weekend Last - but certainly not least - are two Boku no Natsuyasumi advertising posters I found. Being the fan of BnN that I am, I was watching a video about the series about a week and a half ago and it got me thinking about the PS1 and PS2 versions of the games (I have the PSP re-releases) and so I started digging about online. Before long, I came across auctions for these. I was able to win each for 1700 yen, and I can't wait to frame these and put them up! *** And that's it for now! Thanks for looking and I hope you all find cool stuff you're into
  22. I have a pretty defined list of things to get though I have added things as I've discovered them, but the list is still sub 100 titles. The down side is that most of what I still need is in 4 figure territory, so I save, then buy, save then buy...etc.; I think it'll still take me 3-4 years to finish up with the North American stuff (Game Boy and NES...tall mountain to climb for the couple dozen titles left). When I'm done with the games, I have some very specific kiosk/signage wants to complete a project I've had in mind as my end game: to create a cross section of a Nintendo-merchandized video game section, department store style. In the meantime, the final frontier for me on the game front will be putting together a killer X68000 setup and game collection...but I'll fall down that rabbit hole once I finish rounding out the other Japanese games I'm hunting for (mix of Saturn, SFC, Famicom, and a few randos for other systems). It's been fun these past 30 years of playing and collecting games, and although pricing has made the journey drag at times, I'm still having fun and get excited like a kid at Christmas when new games show up that I get to have and experience!
  23. I desperately wanted to go to MGC for the first time, but I'm in the midst of recovering from a herniated L2 in my back, so I can't walk for very long at the moment (which has been particularly cruel for someone who jogged every night before the injury). I'm trying to rehab completely to try going to Long Island, but if not, I'm planning to go to MGC next year for sure!
