  1. Funny you say that because those two levels were the easiest ones for me. Once you get the rhythm for them they're super easy and just give you tons of points and lives for nothing!
  2. Well, it's done. Dang that was rough, but very satisfying. Finished with 0 lives and maybe 1 continue left
  3. Just beat level 12 and the dark queen, with ample load stating. I think I have all the stages down to a reasonable competency now. Definitely not "only die twice" level, but more like "theoretically could beat the game" level. Going to do a little more practice on 11 and 12, then boot it up on the OG cart again for some fresh runs (maybe tomorrow)
  4. Well, I beat Clinger Winger a few times tonight (using the pause exploit) after a lot of practice. I still might lose a life or two or three to the boss, but I can do it, theoretically. Next step is memorizing level 12 and practicing the Dark Queen and I'll have it.
  5. I'll have to get better at pausing because I can't even get halfway through the level as-is. Dozens (hundreds?) of attempts in and I can't get even remotely close to winning the race part
  6. I've never really made it much past the Turbo Tunnel in the past, but I recently got an Everdrive N8 Pro, largely because I wanted to have more than 1 save state slot to practice. Since then I've been grinding at the game hardcore, got a save state at the beginning of each level and just practiced each one over and over again. At this point I can get from the beginning to Clinger Winger (11) on the original cartridge without using a continue, so I guess the Clinger Winger grind begins. The level is just so boring to me, hard to stay motivated about pressing the dpad perfectly for a couple minutes in a row. I must say though, the game is actually really fun. Beating it comes down to a lot of memorization, but there's enough skill and dexterity involved that it's still quite challenging. Hopefully I'll get the last 2 stages practiced soon and I'll be able to finally beat this beast. I've seen some posts online suggesting that you pause when coming to a turn to buffer the new input, but that still means you have to pause at the right time. This one's going to be a challenge I'm sure. I feel like the final level will be easier than Clinger for me.
  7. This is a VGA, not WATA, not even close to the same thing. Best I can offer is $3.50
  8. Shame you're 12 hours away...
  9. I'd bet this guy's just trying to get an extra $5 out of you. If he insists that he wants his $5 and shipping cost him XYZ, I'd ask him for a receipt for what he actually paid for the shipping. Seems sketchy AF to me. Maybe he actually spent that because he paid for a box, tape, or some other nonsense at the shipping store, but I can't imagine his estimate or Facebook's was off by that much, and I don't think a Kindle should cost all that much to ship...but who knows?
  10. On one hand I agree with the "it's meant to be played, not kept in shrinkwrap" argument, but I mean honestly in 2020 that doesn't hold much water. If you want to play the game as they designed it, you can get another copy. Most of these games were made in gigantic batches and nobody is unable to experience SMB3 because 100 copies are still sealed. You can get one on Ebay or a local game store without breaking a sweat. Or you can get one of 5 different flash cartridge options, or play it on an emulator... In my opinion though, having a sealed copy of a game you really treasure is something though. I don't own any sealed NES games, but I would do unspeakable things for a sealed copy of DW3 because I adore that game.
  11. It definitely doesn't feel very satisfying when you put the carts in. It didn't really bother me because I'm not putting the system vertical or kicking it while I play or anything. Guess we'll see if they start having problems.
  12. I was also surprised by how small it was. Guess I know how women feel now. Still performs as expected though!
  13. Mine arrived today so I got it all set up and replaced my RGB NES. Played some Battle Kid 2 and SMB2 with my buddy tonight, had a blast. Tons of menu options I immediately ignored and lots of other stuff involved, but I'm just hot n' bothered about the Famicom/NES dual unit with RGB and HDMI. Beaut.
  14. Got my email too, it's supposed to arrive Monday, very excited to put it through its paces. I'll probably use it in place of my RGB top loader as my primary NES machine for the foreseeable future.
  15. I don't have any interest in these and certainly don't have the VGS clout to get one anyway, but wanted to say I approve your mission!
  16. Edited the PC-10 games, bump!
  17. Uh...the difference here is...Biden didn't tell people to go out and riot and steal shit? Is this a serious question? Trump is actively encouraging his followers to do things like these, whereas "the left" is telling people to be peaceful and not cause trouble. Let's do this. For every tweet from Biden inciting his followers to commit crimes, I'll find you a tweet from Trump telling his people about conspiracy theories and how they need to fight back against the democratic governors. Who wants to start?
  18. Sure, whoever played the best even if they played on MAME, except (as I understand it) the place he submitted to explicitly said no MAME allowed. Oh and this rule was in place because you can use save states in MAME, making it much easier to cheat? It's like you're caught playing a console game in emulator, submit it to speedruns.com for the console category, people call you out and prove it's not console gameplay, but instead of just saying "yeah I was playing on emulator but it's totally legit, I don't use save states" you just lie for years straight and pretend you've never heard of an emulator. So maybe slightly different than just lying. Lying under very suspicious circumstances.
