  1. I just finished Wayne's World. Unsurprisingly the people who programmed this game who couldn't figure out how to code a competent platformer also decided to have an end screen which lasts 5 seconds, so I didn't get a picture. Maybe I'll go back and beat it again because I'm collecting the pictures for myself, but I'm not in any rush to do so. It's a short game, thankfully, but the controls are just...so bad. The graphics are pretty awful as well, and the gameplay is super basic. All you ever do is kick, shoot, and jump. There's a reason this one has a bad reputation, and it deserves it.
  2. Ren and Stimpy buckaroos is done. Honestly not too bad of a game. Definitely another one where controls are the biggest problem. The variety of gameplay is refreshing, graphics are good.
  3. I didn't ever start it...though I may still consider it. It may just be the way they were written but...I was reading some FAQs for the game and the mechanics just seemed absurdly complicated. I'm not sure how much you have to master the intricacies of the way combat works to just complete the game, but it was a bit intimidating for me. I agree both games I'm currently working on are wonky and obnoxious, but with infinite continues (R&S) I think I can eventually beat it, frustrating and dumb as it may be. IDR if Tom & Jerry has limited continues or not; if there's a limit on lives & continues that one might beat me before I beat it
  4. I'll be messing around with Ren & Stimpy and Tom & Jerry. I've played bits-and-pieces of each, but never wanted to dedicate the time to finishing either because of the various problems they have. I think if I alternate between the two hopefully I can keep myself from burning out on either.
  5. Played a few hours of Cobra Command today. I was actually kind of enjoying it, except for the fact that I'm terrible at shooting games, but I was starting to get the hang of it. Then I got to the submarine which fires 3 or 4 homing missiles at you at once, tried it a few times, and decided it was total BS I was not willing to try to learn. Someone else can enjoy that nonsense, it went right back to my shelf.
  6. @Foochie776 Yeah the Mobys are an interesting idea and they implemented them in a few different unique ways, but sometimes I had the answer but struggled to implement it. Even outside of those particular enemies, a lot of stages require really quick turns and tricky timing. I think the thing that frustrated me the most is the amount of kill/blocking you have to do, and random boating you have to do in exactly the right square of water. There's a lot of trial and error. As you said, it's really not too bad for the first 5 or 10 levels, but then eventually it just gets ridiculous.
  7. Lolo 3 is done. Genius puzzle game with a lot of interesting ideas, but I think they got a little too creative with this one. Definitely prefer 1 and 2 more since they're more straightforward.
  8. This reminds me of people who talk about how "Reddit loves x celebrity." I think the same principle applies here: the US population, like the population of Reddit, is not a single person and has a variety of different financial situations. I, for one, haven't lost a single dime because of COVID, my income has increased a little bit, and I got a couple checks from the government which I had nothing to do with. So I know my slush fund for blowing money on videogames has gone up the past year and I'm certain there are lots of other people in my situation. There are also, however, millions of people who lost their jobs last year and either haven't found a new job or have found new, lower-paying, jobs.
  9. Should have read the manual, maybe I would've continued trying this game. I may actually give it a shot (ha!) on Playchoice, if for no other reason than to give me a reason to fire them up again.
  10. Infinite continues? I know you can spam the trigger to continue on the level you just died on, but assumed that was outside of our rules. Is that "code" listed in the manual or something? I never had to bother with that since I never got past the first stage, but when I stopped trying part of the reason was that there were only 2 lives and no continue without using that method, which I assumed was a code.
  11. Oh and FWIW I played Gumshoe for about 30 minutes considering that I might try to beat it for this contest and can confirm either I'm terrible at light gun games, it's insanely difficult, or both. I never beat the first stage. I watched some video of the final stage and it is REALLY intense. Good on you for beating it @Bearcat-Doug, especially so quickly. Your light gun skills are on point it seems.
  12. Just finished day dreamin' Davey. Terrible game as expected. Awful hit detection, weird graphics, some pretty brutal bosses, and a frustrating password/ continue system. Blah. Taking a break to play some good games for a bit. Next up is probably destiny of an emperor and lolo 3 tandem
  13. @Foochie776did you ever end up starting Lolo 3? I may go for it, though I've already beaten it in the past so I'll probably do some other new games in tandem if you aren't doing it.
  14. I never got the projectile mop. I actually face-tanked the motorcycle boss and hit him twice per cycle. You have 8 health (and survive on 0) and he has 16 HP, so if you can hit him twice per cycle without fail, 8 times in a row, he's toast. When I beat him, I got him on the 9th cycle with 0 HP remaining, luckily nailed him before he got me.
  15. Toxic crusaders is done. As I said earlier, the difficulty is kinda brutal. Each hit removes one of your buffs so getting hit is really punishing. Select is essentially your attack button which is really stupid, and the platforming at the end messes with your depth perception... some bosses were laughably easy, some were savagely difficult. Overall game is very meh
  16. I'm open to suggestions on games which are left in the list that are good but not brutally difficult (ala Arkanoid). Currently working on Toxic Crusaders and almost done with it. As seems to be the trend for me, I'm on the last level but it's tough as nails.
  17. Good on you. I picked this one up after watching a little gameplay thinking it would be a relatively easy clear. Then I played it and my God are those controls awful. I'm sure there's some trick to the combat but barring that, it's a terrible experience. Guess that's to be expected once you're down to the last ~150 games...Certainly true of everything I've been playing lately.
  18. I'm guessing he means that in his entire lifetime he's beaten the game with each team, not that he did it with each team this time around. I'm not knowledgeable enough about this or Tecmo NBA Basketball to know how long they take to complete, but maybe that helps?
  19. Finished captain planet. Honestly 5-1 was significantly harder than 5-2. The only saving grace that helped me beat it was about halfway through there's a penguin who gives you a 1-up right after a checkpoint. It wasn't as bad as certain reviews have said, it isn't totally unplayable or impossible, but it's definitely maddening.
  20. I made it through to the final stage of Captain Planet today, which means that I should be finished with it by the end of February. The controls are godawful but with the difficulty of stages 1-4 it's somewhat manageable with some practice. The final level is just obnoxious though, I'm sure it's going to take me forever and there will be lots of times (like right now) where I will just give up in frustration and need to take a break from it before I rip my hair out.
  21. Just finished gravnic, so that's done now. I was going to take a picture of both disappointing end screens, but it turns out they're the same. For half a second it flashes all stages complete, then says game over. Pretty disappointing ending lol. Fun game, though I have to say some of the later stages, especially the puzznic ones, can be frustratingly difficult.
