  1. I thought the same thing, until NN said he doesn't have a smart phone. Imagine you don't have a smart phone and then tell me how easy it is to upload a photo to the internet. I guess I have a digital camera still, for some reason, so I could use that, then connect it to my computer, download the photos, and attach them to the thread. But that assumes you have a camera for some reason, and it's still a pain.
  2. The real-time sections are fairly fun, except for the fact that the hit detection is a little wonky and it feels like button inputs get eaten...a lot...but the core gameplay is interesting at least, though difficult. It was pretty fast, definitely helps using walkthroughs, maps, and lots of boo bombs. They stun the bosses so they can't dodge and won't attack you. When I went up against the final boss he only attacked me once. I stunned twice and dragon kicked the hell out of him. Also got lucky with the stun durations (hence what I said about luck above), I think my second stun lasted ~4 rounds? And one more anecdote about boo bombs...I didn't get attacked by Wiz once, because I stunned him, called my bro, and dragon kicked him to death before he acted.
  3. Little ninja brothers is done. God this game is frustrating. If anyone is trying to play it in the future: boo bombs are the key to winning the incredibly frustrating turn based battles. And lots of luck. There were times i got stunned by a boss, hit 4 times in a row, and died without having any input
  4. Thank God I didn't include a cheater in my DW3 run. We spent so much time together. She had killer stats in that game, for the record. Never let me down with crits either. I'm working on Little Ninja Brothers next - I beat it a couple years ago with a friend co-op, will be interesting to see if it's much harder to beat solo. Also mentioning this because it's a long game, so if someone else is going to take a crack at it we don't both get 90% done with it before realizing one of us is wasting our time.
  5. To be clear, in my opinion (not that in holds much weight either way) I still think it's important that you get credit for the ones you completed according to the guidelines, so it's important to figure out, game-by-game or at least for the longer ones, which ones were completed so you can get credit where credit is due. It might be better handled through PM with someone who knows what they're talking about, or you can just check the sheet yourself and edit your original post with any (if there are any) games which you didn't meet the criteria for. No sense throwing the Chubby Cherub out with the Bubble Babes bath water, or whatever the phrase is.
  6. There is absolutely no way. I'm not too experienced with these games, but looking at TMR's NESMania sheet, it took him 120 hours to complete the bases loaded games, plus 30 for Lolo 3. That's 6 days' worth of gameplay in 11 days. Not including the other 27 games he has beaten this year. I'm not saying anyone's lying or anything, must be a misunderstanding of what completing these games means.
  7. Just finished dragon warrior 3, with a little help from some friends
  8. Frankly it's been entirely too long since I beat the game, I've totally forgotten. I'm mostly sure I only fought him once, though it probably took me a few tries to get through the dungeon with enough resources left. I seem to remember (though my memory is terrible) that I was low on hp/mp, and maybe a character or two was dead at the end? It's also entirely possible that I got lucky and he chose not to cast restoration. Though I guess if he's casting restoration at least he's not attacking you! From the beginning I used that party you have, 2 fighters and a bard up front, a sorceror, and 2 wizards.
  9. Interesting that you say that, I beat TBT for the first time (last year I think?) and I didn't remember maxing out my characters. Just went back and checked and I was level 31 for everyone except one guy was 30. It was definitely a difficult game though, and some of the long dungeons with bosses at the end are brutal on your MP. Fortunately some of the final tiers of spells are also stupidly strong.
  10. I love that all this data is available, thanks for storing and providing it. Beautiful. As a more sad aside...I was working on DW3 using a 3 merchant party (which is brutally difficult) and my save file just got corrupted at the grind before Baramos. Maybe this is a good time to re-consider that strategy, since Merchants are terrible. Might go back with a more traditional party and try again.
  11. The speedruns are ~3 minutes, so either they have a different victory condition or you're really bad at trivia. Maybe both! I've watched NESCardinality play it and it seems pretty easy TBH. What's got you hung up? Sometimes it's helpful to pass to the other family if you don't think you're going to get enough points.
  12. Faria is done, another one i had already beaten before (and enjoyed) so when I saw the pain points I jumped on it.
  13. This is a Sony PVM, PVM-20N6U. I've been really happy with it, looks beautiful. If you get this monitor you'll need BNC connectors, I use SCART -> BNC but component adapters work too.
  14. @SealedWholesale Yeah I'm referring to NES not GBC. If you still have contact with the person you sold your NES one to back then, feel free to let them know there's a market if they're selling!
  15. Deadly Towers completed. Fastest I've ever beaten it, it was a whirlwind of a run. I'm certainly no speedrunner, it still took a couple hours, but it was way faster than previous attempts, not too many deaths.
  16. If Playchoice-10 counts, I beat Ninja Gaiden 2. If not, no worries I was planning to do it anyway.
  17. So...any official Nintendo platform acceptable? I've been meaning to beat NG2 on Playchoice and it's still on the list (unless @DefaultGen beats it before I do).
  18. I was your secret Santa @KokiriChild, glad you're happy with the games. I opened my gifts from @rdrunner and I'm very happy with them. I asked for Gameboy games and he delivered, a couple games with a nice handwritten note explaining why he recommended them and giving some tips. It was also neat getting presents from a celebrity!
  19. He's hiding something for sure, @Gloves
  20. This is an incredibly difficult decision to make. MM1-6 are all incredible games and all have a lot going for them. I agree with what most posters have said: MM2 was amazing at the time, has incredible music and memorable bosses and stages, but it is definitely very much nostalgia-ridden for most people, myself included. It's WAY too easy, especially if you just metal blade everything. I think 3-6 are the best games but they kind of blend together for me. I'm not sure I could list all 8 bosses of any of those 4, with the possibly exception of #3. They're all absolutely top-tier games but the MM series is very samey. I voted for 6 because I liked the innovation of the hover pack and punching suits, energy distributor, and secrets in there. Admittedly it's got a lot of flaws and might not actually be the best, but it's the one that stands out to me with the most interesting mechanics.
  21. Every Christmas growing up we would open our stockings (with an attached bag full of smaller gifts) upstairs on our parents' bed before going downstairs where the big stuff would be waiting for us in the living room. I remember one year going downstairs and seeing a package which was unmistakably a Super Nintendo. The rules were we had to all get dressed and have breakfast before we could open those presents, but it must have been the fastest breakfast ever because my brother and I were not patient at that point. My memory is terrible so I don't remember much beyond that, but I'm sure we played Super Mario World non-stop for probably the rest of the week.
  22. I think B.A. and I probably disagree about a thing or two, but one thing I agree with is that the designation of what is "essential" has been royally fucked up in the handling of this pandemic. Gamestop is 1000% not essential and should not be open. Any retail store not selling something required to keep a human alive shouldn't be open. But instead we have dumb shit like Bed, Bath, and Beyond or liquor stores open, but schools are closed. I think the lines should be drawn more strictly but they don't want business to fail. Well that's how you get a 2 year pandemic instead of a 3 month one. Schools, however, shouldn't be open in-person either. I understand that kids don't do so well in digital learning, especially young kids, but I don't think that's a very good reason to put 35 kids in an enclosed space, then have them travelling along the halls to their next class in droves. Not really sure how to make that work logistically without making transmission a guarantee.
